correct therefore by God's chose not man's, via born of the Holy Spirit. without being born of the Holy Spirit, what you've posted "The kingdom of heaven is within you" does not apply.
ah well youd have to take that up with Jesus i guess DP, i mean unless you have a "the kingdom of heaven is within you, if you are born of the Spirit" Quote?
Understand why the publicans and prostitutes are beating you in maybe

Brakelite decided to postulate an imaginary scenario. The facts are quite different. And the most critical fact is that the writers of Scripture were required to write what the Holy Spirit determined. Not what they fancied. Hence the Bible is regarded as the Word of God.
that way you dont ever have to find the real Word i guess
gotta admit that that would be a lot more convenient lol

and yes, I got that wrong. But again, you denigrate hippies because in your opinion they were generally regarded as shabbily dressed which you considered an insult to a fisherman who worked naked.......
Thank you for admitting you got that wrong. I get stories wrong also. I sure wish you would have left it at that because the rest of what you said is Completely and utterly not true.

I DID NOT denigrate hippies. I gave my opinion of how I look at them. How I look at them is how society looks at them. Nothing more....nothing less.

Yes, a band of hippies may be a little fanciful, and a use of imagination... Hyperbole if you will... And clearly you are offended.
Nope, I am not offended. I believe I have made that very clear. You can’t add feelings to my heart no matter how often you repeat what you believe my feelings are. ;)

I completely agree with your assessment of comparing hippies to scripture writers: It was a fanciful use of imagination with hyperbole. Hmmmmmm......Sooooo why did you use fanciful imagination and hyperbole? To offend people?

Keeping it real...Mary

Look, for what it's worth, I'm not a fisherman as such but I do go out on the water and catch fish; sometimes in the water with a spear gun sometimes out of it with a line. I also live in the jungle (literally) and if any of you folks ever visit without letting me know there's a high chance of finding me in my birthday suit or in shorts either worn out or torn in the tail.

Now that might be shocking to city folk but its all in a days activity in this neck of the woods for this brown duck as I imagine it would have been for those mates of Jesus out on their boats for the simple reason that it's quicker and easier to wash your body than it is your clothes considering washing machines weren't in vogue those days.

......and by the way I do have stories of unexpected visitors like JW's rocking up while digging trenches wearing my special suit on a humid day with sweat and dirt mingled.

I guess Peter on his outing wasn't expecting sight seers and just doing what was comfortable in the circumstances. Anyway, no need to get outta joint because these trivialities weren't repeated exactly as it was. What is important is that the ordinariness as well as the extra ordinariness of the scene is absorbed and understood.
Hi,

Thank you for that story. Some city folk would be surprised how those in remote areas live.

Thank you for your advise also. I need to teach myself to bite my tongue when I see my fellow Christians get wrong the small things written about scripture. I should....as you suggested....stop straining gnats.

I would like to thank @marksman for post #23 and @Enoch111 for post #25

you go along with catholicism, right?
What have I done to you to make your heart hard towards me? Being being Catholic makes your heart hard towards me? Sooooo your heart is hard toward everyone you disagree with?

Idolatry, even subtle idolatry, is to be avoided, isn't it, by God's Own Instructions!

Thus my bias, is to obey God, and not go along with any idolatry, nor approve of it, ever, willingly or wittingly.
????????? Late EDIT

I see what you are saying. You are biased against me because you believe that I support idolatry and I don’t adhere to all of the Ten Commandments. Fascinating.

I guess if you feel comfortable being biased against someone because of what you think they believe/practice then you got to do you. Sounds like your going to be biased against a lot of people in your life. That is going to be stressful I imagine.

Still doesn’t explain why you Refused to write out the word “Marymog”. Is it the “mog” part you disagree with?

ha well but how so, i mean that maybe makes you feel better for a minute, but does not address any of the points eh
The comedy show continues because your trolling response was “yes you did”. You didn’t back up your opinion with evidence. Sooooo you were trolling me....again....and you had no evidence.....which is comedy to me.

Furthermore, I don’t understand what point you were trying to make sooooo how can I address it?

only you might notice that you did not state an opinion, but stated your opinion as fact? I mean dont get me wrong, i was raised to reason logically too, and we assume that others will assume our statements of fact are meant to be understood as opinions, but that does make for easy misunderstandings i guess

well i guess you did qualify that, but then why not just admit that you denigrated hippies bc you have a poor opinion of them? Fwiw a bunch of fishermen whose families are relying on them for supper just dropping their nets and walking off, kinda sounds hippie to me!
lol j/k

Why would I admit to something I didn’t do and don’t have? I do not think all the people that participated in the hippie culture were bad people. But it was very common for them to bum rides/money, do drugs and not be very well dressed because they didn’t have jobs to afford new clothing. It is safe to say that most hippies were not shabbily dressed so I will in part rescind that blanket definition of them.

When someone uses the word hippie to describe another person what is the first thing that comes to your mind?

If it doesn't matter what you think the Bible is, then what are you doing with it? Yes, it is about relationship. A relationship which at times took turns for the worse. A relationship shaped by and large through a deficient understanding on one side as to who the other side is, and what He was doing. The Bible has been given to us to clear up those misunderstandings. Your conception as to who God is shapes your whole life. You came in to this conversation with a mind that reflects conflict and antagonism. It is possible your misconception of God...a deterministic conception... Has shaped your own life attitude and your posts here reflect that. Is that who God is? One of conflict and antagonism?

the Lord Jesus came in to the world with conflict and antagonism with those who think to be the authority on God, much like your posting here.

though yes that doesn't prove me correct because Jesus may have had the same dealings, but the facts prove correct and yes its becomes quite unnecessary to feed spoons full of sugar to those who insist that their view of God is correct because its their right to view God in whatever view they seek, in their mutual group of like thinking that that's what important here. so no you're completely incorrect and miss guided. because God's conception of you or view of you or what He really thinks of you, shapes your whole life. even if He leaves you to your own judgements, and the results thereof.
