I wasnt equating hippies with the Bible writers by way of character
dunno why not, hippies are awesome, "non-doers," regardless of the rep of some. Now personally i like being more active maybe, but i take that as an indication of how lost i still am?
You are getting your nose out of joint because I suggest that the scriptures are written in a form more in tune with songwriters, musicians, poets, lyricists and story tellers rather than the many who think it a text book on theology? I wasnt equating hippies with the Bible writers by way of character, but rather by way of worldview and love for life. Theologians love to exound on how scripture teaches facts and doctrines and stuff we must accept or be classified as heretics... Whereas I believe the writers of scripture were telling a story...a story of infinite redemptive love... And they did it through song and poetry and narrative... Precisely the way God wanted His words expressed because that is the way they better reflect His personality. A God of love... Of music... Of beauty... Of poetry. A God of life and joy and peace. A God Who accepts children to play on His lap...a God who plays... Who laughs... Who sings.
If people cannot see that God in scripture and all they see is doctrine and judgement and wrath and power...I feel sorry for them.
word
but that is, after all, the antithesis of "hippies" right?
i love when ppl say (irl) they hate hippies, or they make some snide comment about someone we might label a hippy, bc then i get to ask "ah, how come?" in my most innocent voice, and watch them flop around like idiots trying to justify themselves lol.
Having a more enlightened perspective of the character of God gives us an image of God that is so much more beautiful than an authoritarian law giver. Love is the fulfilling of the law. By beholding we are changed. We behold perfect undying unconditional love in the face of Jesus and we become loving like Him... And we fulfill the law. Without even trying.
well, i am at a loss to identify which religion specifically that would be stumping for, and while i have to admit that that last part is often just theoretical for me--aside from maybe minutes at a time, when i'm feeling generous prolly--i think that was very well put bl, ty
