Try to think!!! God gave most of us a brain!!! Why not use it??
I would like to draw your attention to the following...
KJV James 2
Show No Partiality
1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
6
But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
Now in reference to the last
verse, I witnessed this very thing taking place in
some of the Assembly of God churches I attended 40 years ago. Those who couldn't afford to buy a flash suit... Who didn't drive a new car... Were considered people of little faith. They were shunned in ministry, judged as being of little value to the church or God. They were oppressed by the demands to give.. Give... Give... While being assailled by false promises. And what they did give went into the private bank accounts of the leaders. This was the beginning of the prosperity gospel and preaching ministry. It was gaining strength and popularity, but want yet that common. But today... Well it's everywhere and it's on steroids. And it hasn't gotten any more biblically sound than when it found its genesis in the late1960s. The ministers have gotten richer yes, there's certainly proof that their particular brand of gospel works...
For them... But all the people who gave to them thinking this was "seed" for their own wealth? You really think God honors selfishness? How does this verse fit in with your gospel...
KJV Luke 9
Take Your Cross and Follow Me
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
