and I was surprised that yep the lines in the "Hail Mary" are actually quoted verses from the Bible.
as are she was troubled by this though yeh?
I can see why protestants have problems with it. But I don't know why many cannot respect a Catholic's point of view on this subject though, that this is why they believe and practice what they believe, many are very quick to jump to conclusions on Catholic doctrine.
i love Catholics, but they are not in any way even very close to Christianity imo

I take no pleasure in feeding posters like you because all you seem to want to do is ACCUSE and BELITTLE... therefore... this little sheep is on her way to lay at the Feet of the Shepherd... I left the Catholic Church a great many years ago... and I don't think anyone in this human world can HATE that institution as much as I do... It caused an absolute breakdown in a relationship between me and my own mother... so don't you dare tell me that I am embracing a false doctrine... I had a heart to heart talk with @Joshno... and you chose to twist my words... YES Mary released her son to the MOB.... That does not mean he was with her... It means she SAW... she KNEW. RESPECT is something that far too many people FORGET to give when they engage in on line conversations. This interaction has been duly noted by myself... and I can assure you this will be the LAST one.

I did not speak for you.
I commented in disagreement about One thing you said.

I spoke for myself, things I disagree with, in Catholic Doctrine concerning MARY...the topic of the OP.
I said nothing about what you believe, like, do or hate.
Practicing Catholics WHO esteem And pray TO Mary, Above the Lord can answer for themselves.
If you are not a practicing Catholic...no need to imply I said you were, when I said no such thing.

so don't you dare tell me that I am embracing a false doctrine.

I could have taken that as a Warning...
But I didn't...
I took that as an Order to STOP telling you you are embracing a false doctrine.

Why? because you already claimed I had Belittled and Accused you.

ACCUSE and BELITTLE...

I was speaking of Mary, and specific treatment Toward her, and Speaking of God, of Jesus...

How you found that abusive or belittling to you personally, is ODD, I never mentioned you, or your comment after my opening statement.

Weird!

I'm a Catholic but I don't practice the doctrine of intercession, the RCC doesn't demand it.

One way i look at it is like sending a message.
I can send my message to the Blessed Mother who in turn sends it to God,
Or I can send my message to God, direct.
and wadr the first one makes one a pagan, while the second does not; we pray "in Christ's Name" specifically bc He is our High Priest, and there is no other Name, right? Now i guess "pagan" maybe sounds bad, but i dont mean it like that

I was NOT stating you were accusing me... although I will admit I did not appreciate that you chose to take a heart to
heart conversation and dissect it... I was not speaking to you... yet you chose to dissect my conversation.
However... I do realize this is a public forum... and I do understand that anyone is allowed to post.

In all fairness... you are NOT the only person who did not respond with respect... but this is where I found the problem to begin...
( I am referring to post# 140 )
Perhaps the problem is:
People supposedly "studying" cannot answer questions they are asked... (these are your words )

Those words are condescending... and that is where I took notice.

Again... I am not Catholic anymore... and I don't think these threads belong in a non denominational forum... Catholics consider themselves the ONE TRUE CHURCH of CHRIST... and therefore they separate themselves from the rest of Christianity... This is GOING to cause problems... How they see Mary is the LEAST of doctrinal problems.

Anyways... this has occupied way more time than I wanted as I don't care to discuss Catholicism...

I really think I turned LEFT when I should have turned RIGHT... I was looking for CLOVER... LOL[/QUOTE]

The main thing that non-Catholics should understand is apostolic succession.
According to the RCC the age of apostleship didn't end with Paul and John, it continued through the ministry of the Church.
So, when a Pope creates a doctrine he does it with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, it doesn't need any foundation in scripture.

Now, you may not agree with apostolic succession and prefer to remain sola scripture and that's fine.
But as long as we understand the differences between sola scripture and apostolic succession then there should be some understanding.

The bigger question is this... Did the age of apostleship end with Paul and John or did it continued through the church???
An apostle is simply a messenger of God who also has the responsibility of establishing His church in the proper order.
The problem with churches today is they refuse to honor the ministry of the apostles and prophets.

The ONLY reason Mary was chosen to be the mother of Jesus is because of her lineage....and for the fulfillment of prophesy.

One reason...
was Expressly her lineage...A Jew.
She was a Vessel to fulfill Prophecy.
She also was faithful to God.
She also was a Virgin.
She also was Obedient to God.
She

Those same qualities (Jewish, Virgin, Faithful, Obedient) Applied to numerous Jewish women...and God chose one Servant to Serve His purpose... not much different than God chose One faithful servant, to be an Earthly father of many nations (Abraham)...and One faithful servant to lead Gods People out of Bondage (Moses)...and One woman to bare a son for Abraham (Sarah)...

Everyone has a specific way to serve Gods purpose...and everyone is a participant in fulfilling prophecy...but Everyone's NAME is not in Written Scriptures. Everyone's Names are recorded IN Gods Books.

Glory to God,
Taken

And THIS my new friend was what I was trying to say to @Josho in my very first post.
This is nothing more than a - 'tying of two fox tails together and lighting a fire in them' . Josho has been on this Forum long enough...he knew very well what he was doing when he started the thread... and what reaction he would get.

I did tell Nancy when she first joined this Forum...' To enjoy it, you need to have a thick skin.' ( and pick your threads lol )
I am guessing that you already 'seasoned' and have a thick skin! :D

( but I think mine is getting thinner...the older I get the thinner, more baggy and wrinkly it becomes! :D )

I'm pretty sure what @Heart2Soul was referring to was, not just being Jewish but which tribe Mary descended from ...Jesus needed to be via Rahab and Boaz , and of David's seed... of Judah....

With this in mind, Paul, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote to the Thessalonians:
2 Thess 2:15

"Stand firm and hold fast to the Traditions you were taught, whether by an ORAL STATEMENT or a letter from us."

Here - the very Scriptures that YOU claim to be our "SOLE authority" put Sacred Tradition ON PAR with Scripture.

So . . .you are saying that apart from Scripture, you have an oral statement or letter from the Apostles! Which Apostles wrote to you! I would like to see them sometime. :)

I was NOT stating you were accusing me...

Eh, that was personal.

although I will admit I did not appreciate that you chose to take a heart to
heart conversation and dissect it... I was not speaking to you... yet you chose to dissect my conversation.

Not "appreciate" is neither accusatory or abusive.

However... I do realize this is a public forum... and I do understand that anyone is allowed to post.

Uh huh...so do I.

In all fairness... you are NOT the only person who did not respond with respect... but this is where I found the problem to begin...

Perhaps the problem is:
People supposedly "studying" cannot answer questions they are asked... (these are your words )

Those words are condescending... and that is where I took notice.

1) that post was to The one who started this OP and expressed his intent to have a Discussion.

2) "discussion" includes back and forth speaking...and asking questions about things either one says.

3) twice I specifically asked A particular person about their particular claim.

4) twice he did not address Answer.

And you think it is accusatory, belittling...and now added disrespectful and condensending...

I responded to a person who says they see no problem discussing different doctrines.

LOL - well I see over and over again a BIG Problem discussing different Doctrines when a person participating in the "discussion" has no clue why they believe what they claim.

Again... I am not Catholic anymore...

I never accused you of being a Catholic.

and I don't think these threads belong in a non denominational forum...

I am well aware "Catholics" have a specific forum within this forum...

As well, open Forums anyone can post what they believe and disagree with others...

Catholics consider themselves the ONE TRUE CHURCH of CHRIST...

Well aware of their claims and void of Scriptural basis in Fact.

and therefore they separate themselves from the rest of Christianity...

I agree they separate themselves and often "some" seem perturbed, their "separation"
Is openly accepted by non-Catholics...weird!

Glory to God,
Taken

Lol Helen...you were DIRECTLY responsible for encouraging me not to leave and I am so very grateful for that! I've learned much over the last couple of years on here...even learned from some I do not agree with! I love you sister, and thank you.
Sorry @Josho bit off topic

AND now I remember why I originally came into this thread... It was to state that if this was a Catholic or Word of Faith Based site that I would quietly just remove my membership... I was commenting on your post @Josho.... What a mess... LOL... Never again... Catholicism is a topic I will not discuss... I will blame this on being NEW... LOL

So sorry for misspelling your name @Josho ... I clicked on his name a few times.. so I must have gotten it right a couple times... Names are very important... Maybe I was subliminally trying to communicate... Josh.. NO... don't make posts about Catholicism... thus Joshno... lol

@Philip James

I don't have too much time to talk about it now, but I believe the woman Revelation 12 is Mary. Here is the chapter.

Revelation 12
Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a garland of twelve stars. Then being with child, she cried out in labor and in pain to give birth. And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads. His tail drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to give birth, to devour her Child as soon as it was born. She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days. And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.” Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child. But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. So the serpent spewed water out of his mouth like a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away by the flood. But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

When I read this, I see not Mary, But The Woman clothed with the sun is the True Bride, His special possession. The 12 Stars are the same as the 12 Pillars of the Faith(12 Apostles) and the Man Child is Christ Jesus in us. It is easier to see, once one has lived it. Have we all not labored(to be broken) to bring Him forth. Have we not been lifted up into the heavenlees when in The Spirit. Have we not all been made war with. Will we not overcome by The Blood of The Lamb and the Word of our testimony. The time for fleeing has come to and end and it is time to march forward as One.
