We certainly cannot now hear every prayer, but are we not changing? Are we not to be changed? Consider this verse:

How much like Him are we going to be and when is that to occur? In the case of Mary?

So, yes, she is supremely special and SHOULD NOT be worshipped and I don't know any priest that teaches we are to worship her -- or any Catholic theologian for that matter.

You do realize that the Catholics teach and believe that they are the ONE TRUE CHURCH?? they are the ones who have separated themselves from other Christians... I am seen as an apostate because I am Catholic... baptized ... first communion and confirmation... When my mother died... I went to the priest who conducted her funeral and asked him to ex-communicate me... LOL... He chose to bless me instead and stated I did not have to return to the church if it had caused me such sorrow... and he added that NO I would not go to hell... even though that is what doctrine would state.

Anyway, OK, you can still pray for me in heaven...I agree about your idea re our spirit still being alive (of course). But will YOU be able to hear ME? I just don't really understand how the CC comes to this conclusion, but you don't have to explain it. I could go through the CCC tomorrow.

You pose a very good question. How can people in heaven "hear" us OR how do we know they have heard us....I will have to look into that later since it is about dinner time.

Maybe, just maybe, in heaven we have certain gifts? Just like on earth we all have certain gifts (1 Corinthians 12:28). In heaven those gifts are different or even perfected since we are perfect in heaven? (these are just statements off the top of my head)

I can't remember any of the early fathers stating we should pray to the Apostles, for instance.
Saints came pretty soon afterwards. Saints in the N.T. meant something different.
Anyway, Catholics are not taught to pray to saints like to God,,,
but, actually, some here do anyway because they're old time catholics.

As far as saints go, worshiping and praising and then just praying to them are two different things.
Which is hard for those that think that everyone that has passed are dead in ground with no conscience. I can understand their problem with that....in the ground awaiting Christ return and judgement. Still waiting...Christ was suppose to return soon...you know the last days thing. But He did not and we have religions that have religions that have had a relationship with the Trinity and angels and saints.
For the Catholics and the like, you know what I mean...the Characters of the NT are part of their life. It is not like they think Miriam saves souls....Anthony might help you find something...lol They love Miriam and I love Miriam...but I am not going to worship her.

I understand about the Communion of Saints.
I just have a problem with the idea that saints could hear our prayers.
They can't be everywhere like God can.
The only book I can think of where it states something about speaking to the dead is Macdabees.
You really think they could hear us?

Whether they can hear us or not, God certainly does. Perhaps He tells them ;)

Regardless, that miracles happen when the intercession of the Saints is requested is well documented.

That still does not negate the fact that Catholics are Christians weather Protestants thinks so or not. :)

I did not state that Catholics are not Christians... When you go to Catholic church and you are not Catholic.. you are NOT allowed to partake in communion.

In Orthodox communion your not allowed Communion either, that doesn't mean they do not think your Christian just that your not in communion with them and you don't agree with them. I think the table needs to be fenced and not wide open, I would not take any communion with another Protestant Church because I don't agree with them. I don't know what you mean by "Orthodox religion"? If you mean Eastern Orthodox they are in communion with The Church.

I was speaking specifically of Protestant denominations that have Marion theology similar to The Churches theology.....such as the Anglicans and Lutherans.

Protestantism teaches us that if you believe the Holy Spirit guided you into the truth then it is ok to believe what you believe. Were the Anglican's and Lutherans guided to the truth? You don't need to answer....just something to think about.

Really? Did Martin Luther bring Mariology with him from Catholicism? I never knew that. And Anglicans are pretty much the same as Presbyterians, or aren't they? I was never involved with any denomination that was into Mariology. Your last question - No.

The problem with churches today is they refuse to honor the ministry of the apostles and prophets.

.... All who have been justified by faith in Baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church.

Now you don't have to go far upthread to find us condemned as a false church, deceived by lying spirits, pagans, sinful, idolators...

Maybe you want to rethink the statement that we are the ones separating ourselves from our brothers?

Chief among them being that 'if you eat and drink without recognizing the Body, you eat and drink condemnation on your self'
It would be uncharitable to allow one who does not believe that they are receiving Jesus' flesh and blood, to so injure themselves.

Go to an Orthodox Church and you will not be allowed the Holy Eucharist, they also believe the same in regards to Catholics.

I LOATHE evangelicalism and sola scriptura yet here I am.

Yet he died by hanging and others who partook unworthily and as St. Paul said others were sick whom partook unworthily. Better to fence the table than take a chance. Of course in non Traditional Churches it wouldn't matter since communion is really nothing but juice and cracker with no presence. :)
