In dealing with Scripture, especially in the NT it is important to have a modicum of understanding of grammar. It carries over to common English writing, also.
Now, see, do you not see how condescending this reads?
And "modicum?" Who talks like that? Are you an English professor?

People on this forum generally respond to Scripture presentation. Just not yours so much. Could it possibly be that the problem we have is not with your Scripture references at all? After all, most, if not all of us have read the verses before. Scripture is not all that you're presenting. Is it remotely conceivable to you that it might be the manner in which you present your case that is so objectional? Haven't you been in enough forums to realize that you can't just barge into a new (to you) forum and start throwing around weight that you do not yet possess? It is a hard lesson I've learned that truth is truth even when mean people say it. But can you not see that rudeness is not very influential in a place where friendliness looms largely and often prevails? I've already had fairly heated arguments with folks who have later on "liked" my posts. Am I getting through at all? Or do you already have me on |Ignore|? lol
I can tell you that I have posted scriptures and asked questions with similar ad hominem results. Most have been kind and respectful even with different POV's but others not so much. I can say I know John from another forum and he is one of the good guys who post. Hopefully things can smooth over and we can all act civil to each other and leave out the personal insults.

John can read and translate Greek into English. I know this because of the Greek and Hebrew forum on CARM over the years. I've been on that forum for 25 years since its inception in 1995.

hope this helps !!!

John can behave like a member instead of the ultimate arbiter of truth or likely suffer loss of influence here. That's just how things work. It's out of my hands. Heady scholarship has only impressed me when I've seen it combined with commensurate humility.

Many people think that.

I know some think so because John saw a slaughtered lamb.

I go with this:

Isaiah 65
16 That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes.
17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
18 But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.

According to this, we won't even remember the current heaven and earth. It won't come into mind. So then if Jesus bears the scars, we'd all see the ONE flaw in heaven, and we'd ask Jesus, what is the meaning of those marks? And He'd say . . . nevermind.

So . . . I'm thinking that all trace and stain of sin will be gone completely and forever, and we will live forever with Him in perfect innocence and righteousness.

Much love!
He had the wounds in His resurrection body when Thomas demanded to see them. :)

And He will have them when He returns in Judgment.

Rev 1:7
He cometh with clouds, and every eye shall see Him, and they which pierced Him, and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him

Zech 12:8-14
On that day the Lord will protect the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them on that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the angel of the Lord, going before them. 9 And on that day I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

And they will look upon Him whom they have pierced

10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn. 11 On that day the mourning in Jerusalem will be as great as the mourning for Hadad-rimmon in the plain of Megiddo. 12 The land shall mourn, each family by itself: the family of the house of David by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the house of Nathan by itself, and their wives by themselves; 13 the family of the house of Levi by itself, and their wives by themselves; the family of the Shimeites by itself, and their wives by themselves; 14 and all the families that are left, each by itself, and their wives by themselves.

The condescension is yours, not mine.
Neither my education nor my vocation nor my vocabulary are relevant.

You are throwing ad hominems instead of dealing with the issues I bring up.

Yes, that's something else I've seen pointed to.

Behold! I make all things new! There will come a time when all will be made new, and the former will not be remembered, nor will it come to mind.

Much love!

Yall who have thrown out so many ad hominems shall not presume to lecture me on what Scripture says in its context. God wrote the Bible, He says what he meant, and He means what he wrote. Neither you nor I get to make a vote on the content of the Bible. Sorry if y'all do not like that.

There has been no poster who can find fault with what I posted from Scripture; that it says this, not that. Actually, I held back many of the things in the original languages of Scripture to demonstrate error. I'll do that, if you want me to do it.

So stop stating that I am the problem, or that I "jumped into a discussion wrongly". Since there are no posted rules about which threads a newbie must post, I assumed this was an open forum in that respect.

You're really gonna go with "I know you are but what am I?"

Zechariah 13
2“On that day, I will banish the names of the idols from the land, and they will be remembered no more,” declares the Lord Almighty. “I will remove both the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land. 3And if anyone still prophesies, their father and mother, to whom they were born, will say to them, ‘You must die, because you have told lies in the Lord’s name.’ Then their own parents will stab the one who prophesies.
4“On that day every prophet will be ashamed of their prophetic vision. They will not put on a prophet’s garment of hair in order to deceive. 5Each will say, ‘I am not a prophet. I am a farmer; the land has been my livelihood since my youth.’ 6If someone asks, ‘What are these wounds on your body?’ they will answer, ‘The wounds I was given at the house of my friends.’

be kind/be insulting

one of these things is not like the other.

Matthew 5:43-48
You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46 If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47 And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Of course one passage does not negate the other. Where do we find harmony? When will this prophecy be fulfilled?

Much love!

Completely open!

I think people tend to reveal how weak they think their argument is by how much they make things personal.

I guess there are many people to feel more equipped to attack someone personally then to support their own theology!

Much love!

You might read verse 22 of the same chapter carefully.

I just don't believe that the Scripture you've quoted means that absolutely every trace of Christ's sacrifice will be removed. I think discussing it further might prove to be hollowly argumentative. I'll be happy to let you have the last word, though. :)
