Saint, here is a vital lesson for you...

One of the most important ways you Grow in Grace, and spiritually mature, is by discovering what isn't True regarding the Spiritual....regarding the Kingdom of God.
And why is this so very important?
Because if you don't know what isn't true, it has a good chance of capturing you and ruining your faith by corrupting you with the Devil's Theology.

Here is an update for you Saint....
Not every Forum Mod is in line with God's Spirit.
Not every Member is in line with God's Spirit.
Not every Pastor, Pope, Teacher, Preacher, is in line with the Truth =regarding understanding the TRUTH concerning God's actual dealings with humanity as found in the New Testament.

So, what is the first step to discerning the Heretic?
The first step is to realize that there is an intensive and continual battle that Satan is waging all over the world to :

1. Keep the Lost on their way to Hell
2. Ruin the New Believers.

Understand Saint, that Heaven , Hell, Christ, The Cross, Satan, and Spiritual Deception, are not a MYTH.
What you can't see, is Eternal, and what you can see is Temporary.

So, the first step, is for you to realize that Truth is Absolute regarding the Things of God, and there is no other...Truth.
Yet, there are always "others", always other Truth's being presented to you as : "this is real Christianity". "it like this"...

Now, Some of you have a deceived mindset. Some of you are deeply deceived, but you have good intent, your heart is right but your understanding of God's Truth is wrong.
Some of you want to cause chaos, want to fight the Truth, and that is the only reason you live on Forums.
Many will say this....
"well, you believe what you believe, and they believe what they believe, and that one teaches something else, but in the end, its all good, as long as everyone claims to be a "christian" and we all love each other".....
So, do you see that nonsense?
That mindset is the Devil's lie, and many are owned by it.
Are you?

Now, how did i discover what is REAL and who isn't?
Well, its the same for you.....
You'll have to do it exactly the same way, or, you can listen to me tell you and start THERE.
What i did was ask God to SHOW ME.

So, lets try that, and lets see if you can SEE it., also.

And a person says.....

"Behold,.... one person talks about mary, and one person believes in water, and one person says that God causes all the evil, and one person says that all are already saved, and one person says that confessing and sinning and confessing is real christianity, and one person says that God chooses some to burn in the lake of fire, and one person says that i have to keep the commandments to go to heaven, and one person says that you BEHOLD can't be of God because you teach in a way that does not show secular love..... and .......

So, let me show you how to discover who is lying to you, while they try their best to sound "spiritual" and "theologically deep".

1. The DEVIL comes as an "angel of Light".
2. The DEVIL"s teachers, preachers, Mods, Pope's, Seminaries, come to you as "preachers of righteousness"...
= They FAKE IT.
They FAKE Fruit.
They Speak "christianese".
Its all a Lie.

So, you need to get that, and hear what im saying, and wake up.

Listen,
The DEVIL's Theology >sounds< correct, because his people mix some truth in with some heresy.
They MIX IT, and unless you have developed your Spiritual Ears, you will hear their Theological hybridization as TRUTH, when in fact is utter deceit, cleverly disguised as Truth.
And these people will ruin your faith, and they think and believe they are helping you to see the light, when in fact, because they are deceived they BELIEVE they are right.

Jesus said....."be sure the Light that is in you is not DARKNESS".

So, Saint, it can be that a born again person is completely deceived by the Devil.
And you find these deceived people ruining forums, building churches, and deceiving millions.

Now, lets cut to the chase, as you want to know how to spot them, so that you can protect yourself..
Well, its very easy to spot them., but you have to know how to SEE where to LOOK.

Its here....

= When you have to know who is lying, then look at one simple thing..
How do they Treat the CROSS.
How do they Treat the Cross.
How do they Treat the Cross.
Paul said that these clever devils are "enemies of the Cross" while they sound like Truth bearers.
Jude says they switched the Truth for a Lie.
This Lie is always revealed by how they treat the Cross.
Saint.....The Cross, is the GRACE OF GOD.
Get that..!!

So, all heretics are enemies of the Cross, because they are deniers of God's Grace.
And how is this?.....= What are they doing that causes them to be an enemy of the Cross?
And once you SEE this, you will see THEM, for what they are,......and that is how you spot them.

Saint.......An enemy of the Cross is anyone who does not give "the finished work of Jesus", 100% CREDIT for being the only and sole means for getting them into heaven.

Its that simple.

Every enemy of the Cross, is hanging on their own self righteous Cross, having kicked Jesus off the Cross.

Every enemy of the Cross, is hanging on the Cross, having ripped Jesus off the Nails by using "self effort" as their Savior.

Every enemy of the Cross, sounds like this......"Yes, i know that Jesus saved me.....But"

Every enemy of the Cross, sounds like this....>"Yes, Jesus started our salvation, BUT"......

Every enemy of the Cross, sounds like this...."Yes, Jesus took my old sins, but not my new sins....

Every enemy of the Cross, sounds like this......"Yes, water baptism is how God saves you".

Now do you see the similarities?
Each of the Liars, each of these Devil led deceived people, pretends to give Christ Credit for Salvation, but then they remove Him and insert their REAL Savior.

For some its "abiding" vs the Grace of God., and this theology is just one more enemy of the Cross.

= Self Effort of some type... be it works, commandment keeping, enduring to the end, water baptism, holy communion/sacraments, and on and on, self effort , self effort, self effort. = is the ENEMY of God's Grace and this is the enemy of The Cross.

Its that simple.

And what is wrong with Self Effort?
A.) The deceived have replaced Jesus's Work on the Cross, with their SELF EFFORT Gospel.
A.). The DEVIL's Gospel, is always the "gospel of works".

So, learn to SEE this, with your Spiritual Ears.
Learn to HEAR them...with your Spiritual Ears, and you'll always recognize these "gospel of self effort" deceived heretics.
Learn to recognize in their teaching....that this person has replaced Jesus with SELF EFFORT of some kind.
When you recognize them, you know you are dealing with a spiritually corrupted and "inner man" subverted believer.
A.) Avoid.

@Behold

I'm surprised you didn't mention what I believe. And here I thought you thought I was a heretic! Thanks. Actually, I'm against false teachers too. So that, at least, we have in common. :)

you will see THEM, for what they are,......and that is how you spot them.
Jesus said the hypocrisy of the false teacher is how you know them. That's how you spot the person who thinks they are saved by the merit of their own righteousness, and that is how you spot the person who abuses the grace of God thinking it is a person's license to not have to do works of righteousness. John said righteous people are identified by their righteousness, and unrighteous people are identified by their unrighteousness. Neither the works salvationist nor the greasy gracer has the Spirit from which to produce the fruit of righteousness. That's how you recognize fake believers and teachers and teachings. Real truth leads to righteous character. Untruths invariably lead to the hypocrisy of unrighteous behavior. It's really that simple.

Luke 7:35

No, not EVERY enemy of the cross. There are also enemies of the cross that deny grace by continuing in their sin and make no effort to resist sin and live righteously. They believe the false teaching that says if the believer is under obligation to walk according to the Spirit that is a works gospel. And so their lives follow suit—they don't walk according to the Spirit. Surprise, surprise! Right? Lol. But like I said, that's how Jesus said you recognize false teachers and believers and their teachings. The end result of their false beliefs is the hypocrisy of their unrighteousness. Just as that is true for the person who believes salvation is earned by doing works. In both cases, their own hypocrisy rats them out.

Abiding in Christ and the Father, bearing the fruit of righteousness, is the SIGN that you are crucified with Christ. But we have a church full of hypocrites running around in their uncircumcised lives claiming they are circumcised by the Spirit in a putting off of the flesh. That is literally the definition of hypocrisy—claiming to be set free from the deeds of the flesh through faith in Christ and then not living set free from the deeds of the flesh. Ain't no grace gonna cover 'dat sin! Jesus said hypocrites go to the lake of fire.

Is there hope for me? My eyes have been opened to my legalism and not resting on the cross? I've been a hypocrite, I've really hated it but I kept it inside out of fear and sin. I read hebrews 6 and 10 and I'm in despair. I've been working so hard, I'm tired and just want to rest in Jesus. I get so scared I'm not working to keep it because I see so many warnings about falling away and yet I did.

Luke 18:13-14
the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

14“I tell you that this man, rather than the other (the legalist), went home justified before God.

This is how a person is justified without having to do good works to earn that justification. You admit your complete and total failure to be righteous and cast yourself on God's mercy.

I had come to Christ this way. I still depend on this, but I became so focused on my works. I feared I was never doing enough to please God and the church. I see so many warnings in the bible about fruits and works. Ultimately my heart was strugglings against my flesh desires, especially for sleep as I have health issues. I felt so selfish worked harder instead of just focusing on the Lord and coming to my Father. I think my works were covering for my internal struggles and/or lack of submission. I thought you had to submit everything to come to Christ, but I was still desiring idols, never the less I still came to drink the water hoping He would help me.

It sounds like you're looking at the requirements of obedience and launching into them in your own effort to fulfill them. And you became frustrated, and as a result you fell away, right? I didn't fall away, but when I got to that point of frustration the answer for me was to learn about what God's love is (it's not like human, selfish love), and to rely on that be the motivator of my obedience to God.

Obedience is about being a good person on the inside. It's not about putting on appearances in the name of obedience. That's the way of the Pharisee. The works we as Christians are to do are the outward expression of the qualities (the fruit) of the Spirit inside of us. The key to successful Christian works is to nurture the quality of the Spirit inside of us that produces the work on the outside. Kind people do kind things. Patient people are patient. Gentle people are gentle. Faithful people are faithful, etc.

I think every born again person comes to the place you're at right now. But it seems very few Christians learn the secret of how to successfully serve God. I had a godly spiritual father and mentor who taught me this truth. It changed my life.

This makes so much sense. My inner self was still needing work and instead of focusing on that, I leapt right into church works. Of course, well meaning churches want to see you serving right away, but I realized my outer works felt dead if my spiritual fruits are not cultivated. Can they be cultivated or are they instant? I was scared why I struggled with impatience, frustration, etc. I suppose I thought if I served enough they would grow. I just wore out.

This is incredibly accurate and helpful for me. I also still had selfishnes desires when I came to Christ. Maybe it's because I didn't repent of them or enough?

Get liberated right now and understand the difference between the Christian's works of service and their works of obedience. I know the church can lay heavy burdens on Christians to do works of service in the church. Those are for the most part VOLUNTARY. It's your works of personal obedience that we're talking about here (kindness, love, peace, etc.). Those are not voluntary and are required of the Christian. Don't be alarmed though. God knows it takes time to develop these in a person. And he has committed himself to doing that in your life. This really is what your Christian experience is all about. And if we are soft and pliable it WILL get done. And you will experience the abundant life of joy that Jesus promised his people.

...but I realized my outer works felt dead if my spiritual fruits are not cultivated. Can they be cultivated or are they instant?
While learning all this, works of obedient love felt instant to me. I felt like I had arrived (in a good way). But the truth was I was just starting out on a life long journey of learning to respond to life's situations and trials with the love of God. It seems there's always a tougher trial ahead that requires a new degree of spiritual growth inside of us to conquer. It's like a weight lifter. He doesn't go to the gym to get strong so he can lift the same heavy weights over and over again with ease. He trains to lift heavier and heavier weights.

Oh, by the way, did I mention that suffering is what God uses to nurture love for others in us? Don't be scared. It's not fun, and I don't volunteer for it. But it does pay big dividends in the end. As an example, I've had a bad back for most of my adult life. It was really debilitating in the beginning. But because of that suffering in my life and how God came through for me I care deeply about people's infirmities. It taught me compassion.

I was scared why I struggled with impatience, frustration, etc. I suppose I thought if I served enough they would grow. I just wore out.
I call that 'pushing on a string'. I borrowed the phrase from the world of economics, lol. But it describes very well how we as Christians perform the work on the outside hoping it will change us on the inside—like pushing on a string to move an object.

I am so thankful for all of your responses! It's like you just handed me jewels. This is really clicking for me. Thank you also for the suffering encouragement.

I hope if anyone else is in my position they heed this and don't hide away in shame, confusion, pride or works.

I also have/had back issues and agree with what you say.

The key to conquering selfish behavior is to recognize it for what it is. Learning what God's love looks like is best accomplished by knowing what it is not. By nature, everything that is not God's love is what comes out of us—wrath, back biting, hatred, etc. When we recognize those things for what they are, that's when we can change our mind about those things (a.k.a. repent). By nature, we view those things as normal and necessary and even just! But through knowledge the Spirit trains us to resist those things and draw on the peace of God inside of us instead. It's definitely a boot camp. But at the end of the day when we're all sitting around the camp fire singing Kumbya it's worth it. God gives peace and joy to the person who walks in the obedience of the Spirit. Your praise and worship will explode with the joy of the Lord. And your gift, whatever that is, will become energized with the power of God. Lot's to talk about here.
