Remember when you met your mate? You could not spend enough time on the phone with them and there was never enough time to be together and going to your separate homes was torture! That's how God feels about you if you are saved! In the World today we have relegated our Savior into some club where He is referred to as J. C. and the boys when speaking of him and the Disciples that followed Him. And then, on the Internet I notice the lose of caps in people's typing and it is so inclusive that we fail to reverence God and the Christ to the point that they are referred to as god and the christ as if they are no different than our gmc truck or our chevy impala.

I am almost rebuked by people claiming the name of the Christ, Jesus as their Savior for pointing this out to folks on the Internet and they assure me that no disrespect was probably intended. The sad thing is that they are correct, in most cases, the disrespect was not intentional, but it is always disrespectful to leave the Capital off of the first letter off of anyone's name or title.

So, we must ask ourselves, is this a problem or is it a symptom of a much larger condition? Consider. for just a moment, all Adam did was eat the fruit off of a tree that his wife had already eaten... and she did not die! Do you see how easy it is to justify disobedience? In just about every house in the US there is a Television and people spend twenty-one to thirty-five or better hours a week with it as the center of their focus. The problem is so bad that it causes divorces because people would rather watch the Idiot-Tube than to spend time pleasing their mate and being pleased by their mate. But even worse, people do not read their Bibles and therefore sever their connection with God! Without even thinking, they divorce God.

Before I was saved and since that time I have read some great novels but I read a novel and I place it on a shelf where it resides for the rest of my life or I give it away. On the other hand I own a Bible and I began reading it twenty-one years ago at the end of December and have not stopped reading it since. The Bible is the single most exciting piece of literature in the world. It is a true story of wars, subversion and adventure. And for the true committed believer it is very easy to understand because the author of the book lives in their hearts.

On top of all this it is the Living Word of God and is Love Story of God and all of His people... even you! Just as my pastor points out,. When we think of prophecy we immediately think of the End Time. And when we think of that... it is the Saved man and woman's future ad God has spelled it all out for us to read and learn about.

Disrespect is, perhaps, the easiest thing in the world to do and it requires no thought at all. It is my hope that many will find this to be Food For thought. May God bless every one of you.

The most disrespectful act one can show toward our God is to deliberately commit a sin.

(Hebrews 10:26-31) If, after we have been given knowledge of the truth, we should deliberately commit any sins, then there is no longer any sacrifice for them. There is left only the dreadful prospect of judgment and of the fiery wrath that is to devour your enemies. Anyonewho disregards the Law of Moses is ruthlessly put to death on the word of two witnesses or three; and you may be sure that anyone who tramples on the Son of God, and who treats the blood of the covenant which sanctified him as if it were not holy, and who insults the Spirit of grace, will be condemned to a far severer punishment. We are all aware who it was that said: Vengeance is mine; I will vindicate his people. It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”

I think calling Him Jehovah might be up there on the disrespect scale, as well. His name is I AM or Yahweh - Jehovah is a mistranslation of Yahweh.

Of course, I really do not think God gets offended by His creation - com'mon....He has to be beyond that.

Consider that in the Hebrew language your passage was written in, there exists no such thing as capital letters.

It does kind of seem like making a mountain out of a molehill. I mean, sometimes the shift key just doesn't work or what-have-you. I think God cares a lot more for goodness than grammar, and about sin than syntax. If I don't think any disrespect was intended, I don't really take it as disrespectful; remember, as well, that English isn't the first language of everyone you see on the internet, not everyone is a great typist, and so on. It's what's in our hearts that counts, not the way we type/spell His name.

Oh please, when will this stop?

I capitalize them out of a personal choice of respect, but if you are serving God, winning souls for Him and spreading His word I don't think he is going to feel dissed by you not capitalizing His name.

I heard a preacher on TV the other day who said that it was disrespectful to address God as "God" because that was not His name but rather just who/what He is.
He said that if you weren't addressing Him as "Father," "Yeshua," "Jehova" etc. than He will not be listening to your prayers.

God sees what is in your heart. His entire relationship with you is based on that. Punctuation is NOT going to create a barrier between you and Jesus.

Consider when making your decision as to whether a lack of capitalization for certain designations, titles or names of God and His Son, is disrespectful, the usages common to other languages. Someone has already mentioned that in Hebrew, there are no capital letters.

Consider then the situation of modern German where every single noun written is always capitalized. The is a rule of grammar. To this I would add that some time ago on a German Christian forum I saw someone capitalizing the first two letters of every noun which referred to God or His Son. [e.g. GOtt sei dank ! = Thank God !]

To say that a person's usage, or lack thereof, of capitals in such cases, is or is not respectful, should really depend on what purpose was in the person's heart when he made his decision. So then should we make a big issue of it? Who knows the heart of a man, but God alone?

A true insult to God is when a person reads the following scriptures, and then goes and sets up his or her retirement fund.

(Matthew 6:19) “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

(Luke 12:16-20) “Then he told them a parable: ‘there was once a rich man who, having had a good harvest from his land, thought to himself, “What am I to do? I have not enough room to store my crops.” Then he said,” This is what I will do: I will pull down my barns and build bigger ones, and store all my grain and my goods in them, and I will say to my soul: My soul, you have plenty of good things laid by for many years to come; take things easy, eat, drink, have a good time”. But God said to him, “Fool! This very night the demand will be make for your soul; and this hoard of yours, whose will it be then?”

Exactly.
Many people type in all lowercase with absolutely no thought about it at all. Even your name. It's not disrespect, it's just ignorance more than anything (not knowing basic rules of grammar). Sometimes, in an instant message or texting situation, not being proper or even spelling correctly is perfectly NORMAL, because you're limited by the ease of use of the medium.

I believe it is disrepectful when one deliberately uses the lower case 'g' to spell the word God and Jesus' name. I just believe that we should always be mindful of our respect and awe for God. Of course if one is in an emergency and you don't have time to put your finger on the Caps key, then it is not disrepectful.lol The Jews had so many rules about not even saying God's name, and rules about writing God's name. In a way, some of their rules are grounded in such fearfulness, fearfulness that exceeds everything else. Now you see Messianic Jews and others writing out God's name, but then spelling the word God like this:"G-d"! For me it is like they got that mixed up which not to spell out. I think that people should not write out God's name so much like they do.

I don't believe that Jewish "rules and regulations" are based on fear.

They appear to be based on culture or simple 'Jewish-ness'.
Their history goes back thousands of years and as a result they carry a LOT of baggage simply being born into the group.

Those of us who have little or no cultural memory of our own ancestory can barely understand such a situation.

On the one hand Jewish-ness can be a great comfort, source of strength and a treasure house of cultural riches.
On the other hand it can be an impediment to social change and can suffer from religious intolerance.

It is simple human nature, that's all.
We all have it more or less.

I believe that Jewish culture isn't based on fear, its based on a whole train load of historical baggage.

You sure over-stepped yourself in this response to what I said. I didn't say what you say here. I didn't say the "Jewish rules and regulations" are based on fear, as you say here that I did. I was only talking about the rules the Jews have made-up themselves about saying and writing God's name, their own made-up rules that weren't commanded by God. We are supposed to fear God. And all the rules and regulations given by God to the Jews---those are rules and regulations given by God.
But, if I'm not mistaken, there are rules made-up by the Jews, rules on saying and writing God's name. And those rules are only based on fear and not on God's commands. For example, I think one of the rules are that they can't write God's name down on a paper and then throw that paper away. As far as I know, that is not an Old Testament law. If anyone knows of such laws in the Old Testament like that, I would like to have that information. You sure didn't read my post correctly, at all.

Consider that in the Hebrew language your passage was written in, there exists no such thing as capital letters.

But in English we do and for the past 200+ years of History such an intentional offense will keep you in the unemployment line and the line going to Hell.

It does kind of seem like making a mountain out of a molehill. I mean, sometimes the shift key just doesn't work or what-have-you. I think God cares a lot more for goodness than grammar, and about sin than syntax. It's what's in our hearts that counts, not the way we type/spell His name.

But in the English speaking nations it is extremely rude, a sin, to leave the Caps off. And if you think so little of Yahweh as to spell it with a lower case y it is obvious that you have a problem and it is not your keyboard. And on a personal level... you might want to look God up in the Nave's Topical and do the study! God cares what color socks you wear.

To say that a person's usage, or lack thereof, of capitals in such cases, is or is not respectful, should really depend on what purpose was in the person's heart when he made his decision. So then should we make a big issue of it? Who knows the heart of a man, but God alone?

And the problem is just as you have stated it... God knows!

I don't believe that Jewish "rules and regulations" are based on fear.

Pardner,
You are free to believe anything you choose but God will send folks to Hell for a multitude of sins. there is a destructive fear that freezes a person into inaction and there is the healthy fear that motivates and knowing the difference is life saving.

Here we have it folks, not capitalizing God's or Christ's name nets you a one way ticket to hell. I don't even know why we need Bibles when we can just ask Taylor about such things!

The problem with your argument is that you have jumped to wild conclusions not found in the text. That conclusion is "capitalization is an insult of the Spirit". You must prove this Biblically before you have any legs to base this argument on.
