Matthew 24:36-38 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

Noah is symbolic of us, man. We are those "eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage," until...we enter the ark, if we enter the ark, for many won't...their choice.

Genesis 7:4-10 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth. And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth. And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons' wives with him, into the ark, because of the waters of the flood. And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.

Seven days of warning were given, fulfilled and shall again be fulfilled. Remember that a day to the Lord is as a thousand years, [2 Peter3:8] so as the seven days brought 40 days and nights of rain....so shall the rains again be given at the end of seven thousand years for He has given us warning throughout this time.

We should see three different things here....one is the flood of waters, another is the rain of the Lord and to add to the flood will be "fountains of the great deep." They are not the same!

As He sent rain after seven days...He shall send rain after seven thousand years...He will again send the rain for forty days and forty nights. After that....every living thing will be destroyed if it isn't "on the ark." What is the rain He sends? Knowledge, Understanding, Wisdom, Truth.

From the above we see that the "waters of the flood" were already "upon the earth," as they have been since the beginning. Today those waters are deception...and as then, they shall increase. After the seven days God shall rain truth upon the earth for 40 days and 40 nights and His truth combats Satan's deception. Still, after God's truth, waters remain and increase upon the earth. Those that see and hear are on the ark.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

7:11-13 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights. In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;

If that example is applicable today, and I believe it is....the waters of deception, which have been here since the garden, remain on the earth today and on Lyar 17 (the Hebrew 2nd month, 17th day)...which this year will be...May 21, 2011....the great tribulation begins for us as it did in Noah's time. The spiritual battle of Armageddon is waged...The two forces are in hand to hand combat. God sends His latter rain and Satan's "fountains of the great deep" are opened. Rejoicing and Woe.....

Revelation 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

On the selfsame day...the windows of heaven shower His rain (His elect speak as the Spirit teaches them) and the fountains of the great deep (Satan's elect...his tares) flood the inhabitants of the earth with great deception. And, on the selfsame day...as Noah and those with him entered the ark...so do God's elect. What is the ark? Jesus is the ark of His testament....

Revelation 11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in His temple the ark of His testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

Jesus is the ark of His testament....and the ark is in heaven. Where are we? He dwells in us and because he does, we dwell in heaven (while in our flesh body)....

Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

We are the temple and He is in us, we are in the ark of the testimony, in heaven! We who dwell in heaven....rejoice! Woe to those still of the earth and sea.

7:17-19 And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth. And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.

7:24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

Both the rain of our Father and the waters of the great deep were...forty days upon the earth, perhaps beginning sundown May 21, 2011. Noah and those he represents are on the ark...they are kept from Satan's deception, his temptation, his great flood even though they are right in the middle of it. They have truth.

God gives us the latter rain for forty days and forty nights, time for others to see and hear...a time of probation. If it begins sundown May 21...it ends sundown July 1. His rain ends and yet, the waters INCREASED and prevailed EXCEEDINGLY upon the earth. Satan gets stronger and stronger in his deception. Those still "of earth," fall in the great apostasy of end times.

The rains ends...but the great deep continues until the completion of the 150 days.

Geneis 8:1-3 And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged; The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained; And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated.

It is almost over. Satan's army can no longer buy and sell souls nor can God's windows, His saints, give His truth to those that choose to be deceived.

Notice the waters are "returning continually," but it is not until after the end, not at the end, of the 150 days when "the waters were abated."

8:4-5 And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventh day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat. And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.

The seventh of the seventh month is Tishri...our October 5, 2011. The first of the tenth month is Tevet, our December 27, 2011. Are the waters decreasing as the wicked are being judged?

8:6-7 And it came to pass at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made: And he sent forth a raven, which went forth to and fro, until the waters were dried up from off the earth.

When God's forty days of rain end, He will "sent forth a raven." It is the raven and his army that shall greatly increase the waters of deception on the earth. It is his "hour of temptation" when He himself, the raven, is...on the earth going "to and fro."

Joel 2:9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.

Genesis 8:8-12 Also he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters were abated from off the face of the ground; But the dove found no rest for the sole of her foot, and she returned unto him into the ark, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth: then he put forth his hand, and took her, and pulled her in unto him into the ark. And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark; And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth. And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more.

8:13-14 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry. And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.

Noah (who is symbolic of the elect/saints/manchild) was 600 years old [Gen.7:11] when he entered the ark. Bullinger places his birth at [2948 BC] so this was year [2348 BC] when the flood began....yet, we now see that year 601 is the first year, first month, first day when the waters were dried from the earth. This historical event is teaching of the millennium...new beginnings. I am given to wonder....does the millennium include the six hundred years of Noah's/the elect's life before he/we enter the ark? If yes, then when this age ends there are 400 years left in which to teach others (not the thousand years).

Should the end happen this year, as I believe it will then.....2011 - 600 = 1411! I'm not sure what happened historically in that year but it is very interesting to see the numbers 1411. They are a sign of His elect.

Hi Australia....I hope you're safe from the terrible flooding Australia is experiencing.

The numbers 1 & 4, in any order...1144, 114, 411, 4411, 11:14, 4/11/11, etc. carry meaning. They are signs and those signs awakened me...literally as well as spiritually.

I began seeing those numbers over and over and knew it wasn't coincidence. I am awakened in the middle of the night with the clock showing...11:44, or 1:14, or 4:14. I see them on signs, car tags, receipts, the clock on the coffee pot and oven....everywhere and all the time. They made me search and sure enough...they eventually led me to God. I know it sounds strange but it is what it is. :)

Very often you will see those numbers on Biblical verses and those verses are about God's elect. One example.....

Daniel 11:14 And in those times there shall many stand up against the king of the south: also the robbers of thy people shall exalt themselves to establish the vision; but they shall fall.

Both sides, pre and posttribulationism, have been defended by some of their supporters with arguments based on Mt 24.37-39 and parallel texts. I think none of them should use that passage to defend its position, especially pretribulationism. There's no detail given to compare Noah's days with the second coming, nor with the rapture. It's just been said the second coming, with its judgements, will be unexpected by unbelievers (comp. Ap 1.7).

Bruno,

I cannot see from your post as to why the pre-trib position and rapture cannot be linked with Matthew 24 and/ or the flood. The flood certainly doesn't represent the rapture itself - rather the Lord sealing His people during a time when the whole World will be judged [ie the Judgement that follows the removal of His Church] - but you will recall that a Godly man - Enoch - was removed from the Earth prior to this devastating Judgement by God (the only difference being that the flood removed all the rebellious, the Great Tribulation will remove around 75% of the World's population). Matthew 24 grants us no timetable re the Rapture, BUT DOES grant us the signs called "Birthpains" by the Lord Jesus as to what will precede His physical return to the Earth at the end of the Great Tribulation (see Rev 19 and Zech 14). So whilst we have no date for the rapture, given the fact that all the birthpains are well advanced and happening, how much sooner will be the coming of the Lord FOR HIS worldwide Church before the Great Tribulation unfolds?

This morning the thought came to me about the raven and the dove, Satan and the Holy Spirit. First, both of those birds mentioned with Noah are in the news today for when this year began they started dropping from the sky...dead! A sign? Of course it is.

As the release of the raven [Gen.8:7] foretells the time of Satan being unleased on the world...the dove being sent out speaks of Christ's return and He returns twice. Notice too we're given the numbers 1&4 again....

Genesis 8:10-11 And he stayed yet other seven days; and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark; And the dove came in to him in the evening; and, lo, in her mouth was an olive leaf pluckt off: so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth.

This is when His feet (Jesus in His man child) stand on the mount of olives....

Zechariah 14:4 And His feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

Genesis 8:12 And he stayed yet other seven days; and sent forth the dove; which returned not again unto him any more.

This is when the millennium begins. This age is over, the "hour of His judgement is come" and it is time for "the sickle." [Rev.14:7,14]

Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

Your starting point is off-base and non-analogous. Noah [and his family] were not the 'they', who were eating and drinking .... in Mat. 24:36-38. Hence, when you say that Noah is symbolic of man and that we are eating and drinking, ...., you fail to make the proper connection to the 'they' of Mat. 24:36-38.

There is only one perfect "man." He of course is Christ. So Noah...before God spoke to him, was also, "eating and drinking," as was I.

Yep, our Lord Jesus linked the deceived with the ones the flood TOOK away.

Matt 24:38-39
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
(KJV)

The difference for the last days is that flood is going to be a spiritual flood of lies coming out of the dragon's mouth to deceive. It's the "waters as a flood" that come out of the dragon's mouth written of in Revelation 12.

Those not knowing until the flood came represents those not staying spiritually sober and watching the times like our Lord Jesus and His Apostles said to do.

So Noah...before God spoke to him, was also, "eating and drinking," as was I.

See Veteran's post above. The 'they' refers to 'them', who were swept away by the flood, and not Noah.

Hence, your OP was based upon a false premise and your analogy therein is not credible.

The true analogy from Noah's days to the time just before Christ returns is as Veteran states above -- flood of lies [spiritual and religious].

The "marrying and giving in marriage" refers to the fallen angels [fifth trump]. The "eating and drinking" refers to the merriment of those deceived by the flood of lies as their christ [the Antichrist] has been unveiled to them and is, de facto, on earth pretending to be Christ [sixth trump].

I have always understood Mathew 24:38-39 describes the lifestyle of unsuspecting folks before the Lords wrath.

But I have also considered something else. "The door was shut" (on the ark).... . Then the wrath comes.
The circumstances of salvation have ended. Should we expect the same in the future ?
And what will signify the shut door in the future ?
Things I ponder.

But I always notice it was shut pre-wrath

Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left.
Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And then the door was shut. (pre-wrath)

“Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the ***days of the Son of Man.[sup]
[/sup] People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark.
The door was shut (pre-wrath), and then the flood came (wrath) and destroyed them all.

It is not explicitly written , but certainly indicated that the Lord has a pre-wrath plan to protect his own.

I have often considered these things when reading about "the days of Noah" in new testament end time events.

A time in the future the door will first be shut. Then wrath..

Similar..... the day Lot left Sodom, then fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed the rest

Standard operating procedure for the Lord. Remove his people first, then wrath.

Thank you
Martin

*** notice days is (plural) . distinguished from ....... day (singular) of the Lord ( day of wrath)
Compare "Days of the Son of Man" to "Day of the Lord"
Some folks confuse the two .

Dear Watchman..... :)

I'm well aware of who gets swept away. Many good people today shall be "swept away."

Because you fail to understand the point I was making...a credible point...you have discounted the entire post. Rather silly in my book but...whatever floats your ark.

Well, I didn't find anything in your OP that was credible either. I just chose to attack it from the false analogy you used at the commencement. Absent your analogy, the rest of your OP falls apart on its own.

Matthew 24 is God's plan for Israel. This is why the pretrib position makes a worse mistake than posttrib one by taking that passage to defend its view. But in despite of whether it is God's plan for Israel or it includes the church, if you take Mat 24.37-39 with more attention you'll realize it just means the second coming (or rapture if one interprets so) will be unexpected by non believers, like the flood was in Noah's day. Pay attention at Jesus' words. It says men in Noah's days were all distracted by daily stuff, and then suddenly the flood came and took them all away. Jesus then concludes by saying that "so shall also the coming of the Son of man be." This is all this illustration means. Pre and post trib positions take details of it to argue for its position. Both are wrong, in my opinion.

Why do you wish to "attack" a child of God?

Galatians 5:15-16 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

5:22-25 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

You are NOT walking in the spirit Watchman. Time is short so....take care.

As for the OP being credible....please reread it for it is truth.

"Attacking" your OP and the false analogy you raised therein is not attacking a child of God. All, including Hitler, are children of God the creator.

You are NOT walking in the spirit Watchman. Time is short so....take care.

See 2 Tim. 3:16-17. The man of God is the one that presents the True Word of God. You did not do this in your OP.

As for the OP being credible....please reread it for it is truth.

Yeah -- I read it. There is nothing credible therein. When you started off with a false analogy, expounding thereon a flawed concept does not make any of the rest of it credible either.

You have been presented truth. I am to present it....I cannot nor am I required to make you see. Believe as you wish.

The same applies to you as well. I have proven that the analogy, for which you based your entire OP upon, was errant. Everything thereafter was drivel.

I must say Watchman....you are acting as a decidely unpleasant person. Is this normal or are you having a bad day? I am being patient and warning you, as I am to do.....

1 Thessalonians 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

Matthew 7:19-21 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

What are the fruits you wish to be known by?
