Oh @Rollo Tamasi , I do so love your hatred of violence! And believe it or not...I am totally with you on that, Butttttt-if someone were coming at you or a loved one meaning harm, and there happened to be a weapon within your reach, would you just let those evil people/person do their pleasure of evil to your wife? Child?...I personally do not have a weapon in my home...I did used to want to keep a 12 gauge beneath my bed, but that was B.C. , lol. I am single and live basically alone except that I am letting a friend from Church live in my upstairs rooms. I do not have any other, no children or elderly living here and, I do trust Christ no matter what happens to me. But, not everybody is comfortable with that quite yet...and, we are also subject to the deeds of others so...even though I do not keep a gun in my house, I can't say whether other Christians should or not.
Fierce Blessings aplenty to you brother!

Yes Nancy, everyone is at a different place in their walk with Christ.
At one time in my life, I was a member of the Moral Majority.
I use to proudly display my membership card.
I use to think if I got any more to the right, I'd be a John Bircher.
But that's what happened.
I got so far to the right, I became the left.
Liberal.
I believe Jesus was liberal with righteous ideas.
Liberals today as we know them have unrighteous ideas.
Pharisees?
Wouldn't you call them, or they would call themselves the Moral Majority back in the day.
Very conservative and self-righteous.
Jesus came up with a whole new way to worship God.
Very liberal indeed.

The problem I have is explaining this to people who can't get their minds off the world and to think in spiritual terms.
Jesus had the same problem.

"I believe Jesus was liberal with righteous ideas." Me too.
"I use to proudly display my membership card." Again, me too.
"The problem I have is explaining this to people who can't get their minds off the world and to think in spiritual terms. Jesus had the same problem." I know so many Christians who deal waaaay too much with the cares of this world. I have no fear of dying, nor do I have family to protect...I totally trust the Lord for EVERYTHING...provisions, safety...but, there are those who just are not able to see this.
...According to your faith be it unto you...Matt:9,29.

Many blessings!

Lol, you're such a baby.
I bet you live behind locked doors.

I do.
And the police tell us to.
And, if a person has house insurance yet does not lock his door...the policy is void...and no payment will be paid for loss of property.

But, obviously you are a man of great faith, do not lock doors?
Do not have house insurance?

Probably you never go to a dentist and you trust God to keep your teeth healthy?
How about medication...do you and your wife refuse medication?
How about Hospital? Do you just 'trust God' there too?

Maybe you do...if so, yes you are a much better man than I am.

I take my hat off to you brother...you put us all to shame.

If someone put a gun to my head, I would call on Jesus, nothing else
I walk with Jesus
He's my friend
who is tougher than Jesus, a gun pointed at my head?
I don't think so.

Would you do anything if that gun was pointed to a loved ones head?

My wife and I pray every night before bed, but we do have a plan in case someone did try to break into our house. As you stated Rollo, it's "common sense". I heard a story of a missionary that said he didn't need to fill up his gas tank because He was doing the Lord's work and God would provide the fuel. Well, he ran out of gas. You can have faith and make wise plans at the same time.

Proverbs 24:6 - Surely you need guidance to wage war, and victory is won through many advisers.

Stop locking your doors at night, Jesus has you!

Now that I think on it...if you had a gun pointed at YOUR head there is not much you could do anyhow, lol. And there aren't many Atheists in foxholes :) But a loved one?

I don't think so.

You say this while living in a country that protects its citizens with an extremely large and effective armed military. You say this while living in a state and city or county, where the police force protects citizens by an effective and armed method. In other words, you expect others to protect you, using methods you don't approve, but receive the benefits from. You expect others to do the dirty work so you can be 'spiritual'.

You laud your spirituality and make boast of your bravery if a gun was pointed at your head. I have my doubts. Watch some of the real life crime shows on TV. Many victims are Christians. Christian women are raped and then killed. Some Christian women survive to tell their story of being raped and almost killled. Ask them how spiritual that was. Having a gun or not having a gun plays no role in ones relationship with Jesus Christ. It does give one the opportunity, the possibility, to resist the wrong that is about to be inflicted upon them. Trusting in Christ the whole way, that your gun is loaded and your aim is sure.

If you die, then you die.
But you have to live by your beliefs or else you have nothing
I believe Jesus tells us to be peaceful and to trust in him.
So that's what I do.

I've said before it is the role of the world to protect the world.
It is the role of a Christian to follow Jesus Christ.
Many cannot understand this.
They can't get their head out of the world.

I laud my spirituality because I have it.
Read about the Apostle Paul.
He did the same thing.
We need to be following the Apostle Paul and Jesus the best we can.
Hopefully, we will grow closer to God as we age instead of thinking we have to take care of the evils of the world ourselves.

A man with a gun to my head is not the enemy.
Our enemies are not flesh and blood.

I was in war and came close to dying many times.
Before I got saved, I got ripped off of my drugs with a gun stuck against the side of my head.
I would freely go into the toughest neighborhoods of the entire city of Boston to buy drugs.
I'm not afraid.

When I got saved 33 years ago, I became less afraid than ever before.
Listen, there's a difference between being startled and being afraid.
Fear continues, being startled can be overcome immediately.

One thing I notice in every gun thread, someone always gets angry, usually many people.
But I have peace from God, I do not get angry.

Ever read about or see on TV about someone being murdered and immediately the family or a loved one forgives the killer.
That can only come from God.
Could you forgive someone for recklessly killing a loved one?
