Deicide is anti-christian. That's a fact. Anything that redicules Jesus is anti-Christian. Most metal bands are that way. It sucks cause there's come talented bands.QUOTE
Roughly what percentage of your friends are theist?
Christians? Your own specific denomination? Not one single one of my friends are Christian. Some believe in Jesus, but hold more of a Deist stance. The others don't believe in jack squat.QUOTE
Is the term Fudamentalist offensive?
Not to me. Although I don't agree with the tactics that some of them use, or agree with all of their views.QUOTE
ontinue my conquest for understanding: In response to Christina's definition, so I need not believe that the bible is accurate, nor that any established churches are correct?
If you believe in Christ you have to belive the Bible. There are many versions though. Some not as accurate as the others. It does take some time and study as certain phrases can't be conveyed correctly from language to language. IE, Greek to English, etc.. You don't have to believe than any established church is correct, or that a denomination is correct. It serves better to know the ones that aren't correct, as they teach something other than what's in the bible.QUOTE
What about The Holy Ghost? What's the deal with that?
The Spirit of God. He's the one that ministers to us and teaches us and sanctifies us. The old english used the word ghost inplace of spirit.QUOTE
Do I need to believe in resurrection or transubstansiation?
If you are Christian you have to believe in Resurrection, if there were no resurrection there's no salvation. Transubstansiation, is a man made deal and doesn't have anything to do with Christianity.QUOTE
When someone joins a church, do they implicitly agree with all the social implications involved?
Nope, as you can see on this board, many of us disagree in one area or another, but that's why we are supposed to get together, so we can learn and help eachother and worship.QUOTE
Why try to convert an Atheist?
I never try to convert an Atheist. I think if you're currious you'll ask. I might drop lines here or there, but never to set out intentionally. But, if anyone does try to convert, it's assuradly out of love. We want everyone to believe in Jesus and have salvation.QUOTE
Does anyone know why I can't post on other boards?
What other boards?QUOTE
Now, I have tried to read as many arguements for Atheism and for Religion as possible, and then make the best decision. Would a religious person read books like "God Is Not Great" or "The God Delusion" to see side of the coin?
Absolutely, many Christians read books like those as refferences and to understand the people they may be talking to or "preaching" to. But, to decide on faith, rarely. Most Christians who read stuff like that end up having their faith reaffirmed due to the "facts" or what ever in them.QUOTE
I'll pose one more. Are atheist's wicked (other than the Apostasy issue)?
According to the word of God (bible) All are wicked. That's why we have Jesus, to cleanse our sins.QUOTE
Also, what about keeping Kosher?
Just for Jews. However, if a Christian want's to "keep Kosher" they're more than welcome to, and should do so to the glory of God. But as a requirement, nope, if you wanna eat cuttle fish or even dogs and cats for that matter, go ahead.QUOTE
Not trimming the corners of the beards?
Jewish deal, same as above.QUOTE
Is the earth flat?
Now this question is just sill to me. No, It's tryanloid, and proven by pythigoreans theorem. Of course it's Spherical.QUOTE
Sun moves around it?
No, it only moves in right angles, and only at night, so it doesn't melt the corners off the triangle. Are you kidding me?QUOTE
Is it 6000 (or so) years old?
That's debatable. Some believe it is, some, such as Christian Scientists, (not Scientology btw) Believe it's millions of years old.QUOTE
Evolution yeh or neh?
Neh. I do believe in adaptation, wich seem to cause something similar to evlolution. Then again, some Christians do believe it.QUOTE
A baby is a human when? (conception, blood flow, nervous system? Birth?)
As soon as 2 cells join, it's a life. No different than if you studied evolution, and the group of cells that they claim started "life" are life.QUOTE
Separation of church and state?
I agree with it and I don't agree with it. I think Christians should use their right to vote and make decisions about what we feel is right. I also want it separate, because the Government shouldn't control any ones beliefs, or establish a religion.QUOTE
Nationalism?
Many different forms of nationalism. I'll address a couple of them. Nationalism such as the Nazis were or many Racists today are, no, that's wrong,. Nationalism as far as, loving ones country and not letting others in, well, that's wrong in my opinion too. As children of God, we should welcome anyone in that wants in, either to help them, or maybe if they're not saved they will be by something they experience here.QUOTE
Capitalism?
File capitalism under greed. If you study some of the early Christian villages they closely resemble a form of Communism. In the sense that they shared everything. As Christians we are to regard the things of this life as temporary, or more like we're borrowing them and don't own them.I've left out Scripture as I don't see that you're looking for them just yet. Also, I'm not meaning to speak for every single believer and these are just my opinions of how we are as Christian.
