Tithing predated the law.

And Jesus' words apply to all of us (see Hebrews 1:1-2).

It is true that Tithing predated the LAW......that is of no importance......had it been an important factor to support Tithing , Paul would have promoted Tithing and used that (irrelevant ) fact to bolster his argument....we know that he didn’t .....he promoted “ cheerful” giving....

Paul actually did tell the saints to lay up a percentage of their income on the first day of the week, in 1 Corinthians 16:1-3.

Yes, when we give our tithes, it ought to be with a cheerful heart; and if you do not give them with a cheerful heart it is better that you not give them.

I will say that there is a promise associated with tithing, in Malachi 3:10, that the Lord will open for you the windows of heaven and will pour out for you a blessing that you will not be able to receive.

You are certainly welcome to go the New Testament route and give more than 10%.

But to give less is to sow sparingly...and the Bible teaches that you will reap sparingly as a result (2 Corinthians 9:6).

He did not tell them to lay up a percentage. His exact words were "storing up what he is prospered."

The correct translation is "one of the sabbaths" not the first day of the week.

Malachi 3:10 is a verse that relates to the Jews, not the Christian. That verse is used by everyone who wants to impose tithing on people. I would steer clear of it as there is plenty in the New Testament that shows us how to give.

One important thing about the Corinthian instruction. The money collected was sent to JERUSALEM. it was not kept to pay the electricity bill, a pastors salary, or for the church bus.

It actually says, "let him lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him."

It translates into the same thing as laying aside a percentage of your gross income to give to the church.

Malachi 3:10 is a verse that relates to the Jews, not the Christian.

I beg to differ. For all scripture is inspired of the Lord and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).

It went into the storehouse, so that the saints in Jerusalem might have relief from the famine that was prophesied by Agabus in the book of Acts.

I wouldn't doubt that the pastor of the church in Jerusalem benefited from this tithe.

Except there was no pastor in Jerusalem that was paid a salary. The church was governed by a plurality of unpaid Elders.

No, it doesn't. If it did, that is what it would say as the Greek is very precise.

And it doesn't say all scripture is etc etc etc for everyone who reads it. If that is how you take it are you going to dash your son against a brick wall?

There is so much confusion as multitudes have been sheered by the false shepherds even since the first century.

Yet the woman, the old woman, the widow who Jesus pointed out put ALL OF HER SAVINGS, ALL SHE HAD TO LIVE ON, (not just ten percent) , into the collection plate.... (at the place where the religions leaders later sought to kill Jesus and His disciples) .

Nothing indicated that the widow ever thought of tithing, nor did Jesus ever indicate she should tithe.

Think what you like. In the original, it says one of the sabbaths. What does it say in the original in your bible?
The whole world is deceived, especially or also by /via/ English / western thought.... so very few people ever find out or realize what the original meaning is.

God is Delighted to Reveals it to babes, and to hide it from scholars, btw.

They did not have pastors.
well, maybe not by title anyway
As written in Scripture: Do not give your strength to women/a woman....
Even Kings have lost their integrity to a woman.
Do not go down the path of the adulterous, dripping in desire to trap you in her snare .....

and so on, all through Scripture.

Note that those opposed to God are called in places in Scripture adulterous and harlots - and such they are, seeking to entrap everyone who falls into their lare/ snare/ trap/ planned a long time, ahead of time, to bring others down.
ok you say "planned" but i wonder if one might unconsciously find themselves there, prophets gone a'whoring

good point above though, rings true imo

Not just not by title anyway, but also not. by job description either. The essence of/ the description/ job duties/ job of priest or pastor since centuries ago is not at all practiced Scripturally in multitudes of (most) places,
nor understood at all as it was in Scripture .... so consciously or unconsciously, wittingly or unwittingly , error goes on taught as truth, deceiving many ....

Abraham didn't tithe of the increase on crops he tithed of the spoil.

Hebrews 10:34 Lexicon: For you showed sympathy to the prisoners and accepted joyfully the seizure of your property, knowing that you have for yourselves a better possession and a lasting one.

the seizure
ἁρπαγὴv

from harpaz
Strong's Greek: 724. ἁρπαγή (harpagé) -- pillage, plundering

Fromo_O harpazo; pillage (properly abstract) -- extortion, ravening, spoiling.

Hebrews 10:34N-AFS

GRK:καὶτὴν ἁρπαγὴν τῶν ὑπαρχόντων

KJV:joyfully the spoilingof your
INT:and the plunderof the possessions

Kind of deepens the you joyfully suffer it

726
harpázō – properly, seize by force; snatch up, suddenly and decisively – like someone seizing bounty (spoil, a prize); to take by an open display of force (i.e. not covertly or secretly).

and God loves a cheerful giver o_Oo_O

The thief comes but to steal, kill and destroy. ‘I come so that you may have Life’ (the better enduring substance).
Galatians 1:23 But they had heard only, That he which persecuted us in times past now preacheth the faith which once he destroyed.
