    What is "Parousia"?

Yes, Paul and Silas. I do like "scriptures" because that is how the Greek word graphe is always translated in the KJV (51 times out of 51) and most other translations. It's the most obvious writings that the Jews in the synagogues would have looked in to verify things about the messiah.

    What is "Parousia"?

Because I had said "There will be the 1,000 years mentioned later in Revelation", and you asked "Chapter and verse please". So I responded with Revelation 20:2-7 because those 6 verses all contain "thousand years". No other verses in all of the book of Revelation contains "thousand years"...

    What is "Parousia"?

As I wrote in another thread recently: That's not what rwb was refering to when he said "those who are dead yet still alive in heaven". How is Acts 17:11 demonstrating that God's word isn't Scripture? It's saying that whatever someone tells you, if it doesn't agree with God's written...

    What is "Parousia"?

No, I'm not one of those people. (And it's Lord, not LORD.)

    What is "Parousia"?

Dead yet still alive?! That's a contradiction of terms! Nobody can be dead and alive at the same time. Why does God need to restore people to life in order to judge whether they are worthy of eternal life? Why would he restore someone to life only to tell them that He is condemning them to a...

    What is "Parousia"?

Unbelief of what? I am a Christian, and I'm trying to help others like yourself to understand God's word. I'm also seeking to learn new things from God's word, but like the Bereans I check with the Scriptures to prove what others say. Some of what you have written doesn't tally with the...

    What is "Parousia"?

Revelation 20:2-7. No, we don't get to go to be with Jesus in heaven until he returns for the Church - the first resurrection and rapture. It's not until then that the dead in Christ will be restored to life and changed and be given a spirit body. What? Why does Jesus return to the earth for...

    What is "Parousia"?

That's a poor translation. The Greek word anazao means according to the Online Bible Greek Lexicon: 1) live again, recover life 1a) to be restored to a correct life 1a1) of one who returns to a better moral state 1b) to revive, regain strength and vigour They will not be considered alive...

    What is "Parousia"?

There will be the 1,000 years mentioned later in Revelation. Revelation 10 is describing events that happen before the events in chapter 14, which I quoted from. This is before the 1,000 years reign has started, which starts after Satan has been bound. The saints have a heavenly home, in our...

    What is "Parousia"?

Only the saints will have immortal life (which is why they cannot die a second death); the rest of mankind that come to believe and be perfected during the 1,000 year reign will have eternal life, meaning that they will be mortal, so they can die, but God will ensure that they do not die, just...

    What is "Parousia"?

Which is why I wrote in post #188 - "opportunity to have eternal life, by believing in God and Jesus, and to become perfect humans during Christ's 1,000 year reign". That is the purpose of being resurrected, so that they may come to believe and be perfected, and to gain eternal life. They are...

    What is "Parousia"?

Revelation 14:6-7 (WEB): (6) I saw an angel flying in mid heaven, having an eternal Good News to proclaim to those who dwell on the earth, and to every nation, tribe, language, and people. (7) He said with a loud voice, “Fear the Lord, and give him glory; for the hour of his judgment has come...

    What is "Parousia"?

Only for Christians, for those called to share in Jesus' inheritance, as his bride. The rest of mankind, especially those that have never heard of God (YHVH) and Jesus during their lives, are not abandoned by God - they will have opportunity for eternal life during the 1,000 year reign (they're...

    What is "Parousia"?

To give them the opportunity to have eternal life, by believing in God and Jesus, and to become perfect humans during Christ's 1,000 year reign. For the Church, the dead will be raised as incorruptible and immortal spirit beings in the first resurrection, moments before the rapture occurs ("the...

    What is "Parousia"?

Of course. Lazarus had died, or had "fallen asleep" as Jesus put it, and was currently dead, or "asleep"; hence Jesus said "I am going so that I may awake him out of sleep".

    What is "Parousia"?

    I agree, that is correct.

    What is "Parousia"?

Jesus, speaking of the death of Lazarus, said, John 11:11 (WEB): (11) He said these things, and after that, he said to them, “Our friend, Lazarus, has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I may awake him out of sleep.” The majority of Bible translatons translate 1 Cor. 15:51 as "shall not...

    What is "Parousia"?

Perhaps the confusion, or your disagreement, is based on timing, or time. To my understanding, to die, the moment of death, is an instant thing, something that happens at a point in time. Whereas the term 'sleep' is used to mean to be in the state of death for a period of time, perhaps for...

    What is "Parousia"?

When God said that He was the first and the last He was explaining that He existed before all things, and will exist forever. When Jesus said he was the first and the last, he also said, Revelation 1:17-18 (WEB): (17) When I saw him, I fell at his feet like a dead man. He laid his right hand...
