The Devil tried to keep Jesus from going to the cross!

"The Devil tried to keep Jesus from going to the cross!" While i was listening to a bible study on the sanctuary when the presenter said the above statement... What!!! ... I had to stop straight away and come here to talk with all you people. These are the verses and reasons the presenter...

If the law was abolished at the cross...

Here I think we believe the same thing yet are expressing it different ways. I also believe that Gods will is not always done on earth as it is in heaven. Your choice of words "if we endure" we recieve... I would be more inclined to say "if we chose against Him" we perish.

If the law was abolished at the cross...

Hey what do you know Stan, it seems we have come close to finding common ground, being of one accord if you will. When taking your definition of "the law" as the Mosaic/ Levitical laws I completely agree with what you have been saying. I do slightly disagree with you though on Col 2 only in...

If the law was abolished at the cross...

Stan reply Your right Stan, we should back up a little and make it clear what we both are talking about. In regards to the law you said it is only the written law that was abolished. (But not the law written on our hearts of course). I do agree with you there has always been law and that his...

If the law was abolished at the cross...

Stan Stan Stan... You can not justify what you have just said here with... Mat 5:17-19 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from...

If the law was abolished at the cross...

I would modify your last statement a little considering that Jesus said... "On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." Mat 22:40 Referring to Love for God being the greatest Law and Love for your neighbor as yourself being the second. These would be the basic fundamental Laws...

If the law was abolished at the cross...

Hey that's a good quote, thanks I missed that one. The original post was not talking about justification through the law. Of course our salvation comes through our faith in Jesus being gracious enough to forgive our sin. Grace does not negate the law, if there was no law there would be no...

If the law was abolished at the cross...

Hi ScaliaFan, I think the explanation you are looking for is in the original post under the authors explanation of "how it went down", but probably the best way to make sense of it is to read it straight from the bible and the book I quoted. I have tried giving my own simple explanation a few...

If the law was abolished at the cross...

Thank you Angelina for that beautiful insight. And Stan by your response I can see you are not only a student of God's word but a doer of the word also. Yet it is plain to see you are making of no effect both the commandments and the word when you claim there are no written laws and the New...

If the law was abolished at the cross...

"But if the law was abolished at the cross, as many claim, then the agony and death of God’s dear Son were endured only to give to Satan just what he asked; then the prince of evil triumphed, his charges against the divine government were sustained. The very fact that Christ bore the penalty of...

    1 Verse Sermons

Thanks Ozspen. I looked through some of those sermons on 1 Peter you have, I think I would enjoy hearing you preach. And I would definitely like to hear the sermon you mentioned "Is Sunday worship wrong for Christians, Do Protestants have the mark of the beast?" I have to admit though I am not...

    1 Verse Sermons

:) As silly as it is, I just realized that is one thing I haven't been praying about. I gather I have failed to convey the lack of both quality and quantity for that church. Yes it has a beautiful new high quality church and event hall where dazzling visual effects, and music are delivered by...

    1 Verse Sermons

What should I do? Should I stay or should I go? My local church has a habit of delivering nice sermons with only 1 to 2 or rarely 3 bible references. There doesnt seem to be much wrong as such. They will start by telling a story based on a theme (todays was hope). Then they will relate that...

Was Jesus taste of death fair to the eternally damned?

Thanks Ewq for your thoughts, Indeed the word - taste (γεύομαι geuomai) has more than one definition including to taste, try the flavor, to take and eat, to have a perception of, or to experience death (strongs's, teknia.com). So to try and better understand which emphasis to put on this...

Was Jesus taste of death fair to the eternally damned?

Hebrews 2:9King James Version (KJV) 9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. I was reading through Hebrews in preparation for my weekly Bible study...

    Female Pastors

To all those who have posted in this thread and to anyone interested in the discussion of women as preachers, pastors or priests; and wether the church should endorse their appointment / ordination. If you want an inside look at how this topic is being addressed by a denomination rooted in...

    Sabbath-Keeping

Brother Zeke, It seems you are referring to the redemptive work of Christ which only he could accomplish when you say `it has already been done without us`. I think you have mis-read my question. I would like to re-phrase my Question. We ALL worship God in different ways and on different...

    Sabbath-Keeping

I read your thoughts from time to time but refrain from joining your posts, the tone I hear almost every line does not revere the Lord of Hosts. A week or 2 ago I posted a link to an old manuscript (1657) `The seventh Day Sabbath Sought Out` - for your perusal...

    Politics Religion & SDA Eschtology

Politics and Religion are the 2 subjects for which respectable people should keep their opinions to themselves , if they don't want to rock the boat. SDA eschatology hits at both. Have you have ever wondered what SDA believe about end times and how things are going to play out, but din't want...

    Not my will...

Hi, thanks for your responses. On missing the point... just briefly, When I came here I wanted to hear the opinions of other Christians outside of those well rehearsed ones from my own denomination. I like to look at things from as many perspectives as possible which is why I ask these...
