Our local brewery in my town is called Bank Top and started life in a sports pavilion. I like a beer called Flat Cap and one called Port o Call. This year they've got a Christmas beer called Santa Claws.

Pretty setting.

I thought "after overtime" was going to be about football or hockey :D

Just joking...us Brits remember the barman calling "TIME"...at 10 o'clock pm for the last orders.

Someday soon God will call "Time" too. :)

My former favorite was a coffee stout called "Madhouse." No longer being brewed, darn it.

The Port o'Call ale has a chocolatey taste. And the Flat Cap - after one of our local heroes - is hoppy. So many different nuances to the flavours of real ale - like with wine.

Today my wife and I went out for a nice combined birthday dinner using a gift card from our daughter. Along with mine I had a Samuel Adams, my first beer probably in a year's time. I like it because it has a rich taste mindful in a way of a German dark beer... but of course it is served cold.

In the year I was student in West Berlin I got spoiled on dark German beer. Like the Germans I learned to drink it at room temperature. When I came home there were very few American beers I could drink at all. They were terrible. Well chilled some of them were tolerable because that help disguise the basically unpleasant taste. Not one of them was good at room temperature early in the morning with my scrambled eggs.

Most American beers aren't very good, but the rise of craft breweries has produced some good ones.

Not a drop.... going on eight years.

Well done.

I'm currently taking medication that precludes alcohol, and one person, for my 50th wedding anniversary, gave me a case of Shiner Bock. :(
