Everything I post is from Scriptures, or in line with all Scriptures. It may not be good to quote Scripture when those reading are unknown....

Joseph77, nothing you post is from Scripture, and I wonder why your angel of darkness has driven you to disrupt this thread with so much totally irrelevant garbage. It must be a very important and significant subject that your dark angel, with whom you seem to be most familiar, is working overtime to disrupt this thread.

Sounds like quite a different story then Balaam and the Angel in the way of his donkey (Numbers 22:31). Can you point me to that scripture please, it sounds like an interesting read :)

Genesis 32:22-31 New International Version (NIV)
Jacob Wrestles With God
22 That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. 23 After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. 24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. 26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.”

But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

27 The man asked him, “What is your name?”

“Jacob,” he answered.

28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”

29 Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.”

But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed him there.

30 So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

31 The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel, and he was limping because of his hip.

As I read it I found that it did sound like Balaam and the Angel. The Angel definitely prevailed! Thanks :)

I am sure that the angel could have won if that was God's plan.

As for eating sinew, I don't recall that ever being on my grocery list <giggle>

Yeah I agree, I like some pork and beef fat, but sinew that shrinks, is that even edible? Ugh. Maybe that was a mercy too;)

I remember reading something about Angel visits to people in the bible. Do Angels still visit people, and if so what should you expect, etc. I want this to be an education thread where I and others can learn more about this Theology.

I'll just add that I know of an Angel opening the prison gate (Acts of the Apostles 5:19-20) and also one with countenance of lightning rolling back the door to Jesus tomb (Matthew 28:1-3) and apparently Angels make earthquakes?

Thanks,

Devin

One time Angel Gabriel led me to pray for someone in a dream.

One time Angel Gabriel led me to pray for someone in a dream.

I was led one time to pray for someone that was presented.

Had it been Angel Food Cake, that would have been icing on the cake. Just kidding. Angels are still active in the lives of believers.

LOL, yeah. Angel food.

It was a surprise to me to hear how many people have Angel encounters here. I remember when I first got onto a forum I think it was discussed and I didn't see that.

Anyways, I felt the spirit in the witnessing of others. It's been nice :)

Pearl, sometimes look back to my motorcycle years 60 years ago, and the fact that I am still here must have something to do with angels.

As a teenager, regularly riding and racing his Indian 80 at 200 km, and a whole lot of other stupid stuff, there is no reason I should be here 60 years later, unless someone was watching over me.
Yes, likewise Stan. As I look back over my life and think about all the rather precarious positions that I naively/willingly put myself in, I can't rationalize, outside of chance, how in the world that I made it out of certain situations relatively unscathed. As far as angels are concerned, or some sort of divine intervention, I clearly cannot, with any amount of certitude, state that my preservation was due to their influences? At least, prove it as such, ...but I may have my own convictions about it, one way or the another.
I may have had one or two phenomenal situations that defied rational explanation, in this particular case, I may lean towards God's merciful protection. But, outside of that, I have seen no angels, and cannot testify to anything substantial that truly has God's evidence marked on it.
But, yes, of course, I do believe that God watches over all men, for various reasons, and with various outcomes. And I do believe that, as He sees fit, He sends His guardian angels to protect many people. I personally just have very little to report, to a compelling degree for others.

Psalm 91 says He gives His Angel's charge over us lest we should dash our foot against a stone.
Psalms 91 (KJV)
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
⁹ Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
¹⁰ There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
¹¹ For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
¹² They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

I love this verse:

Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
Hebrews 13:2 KJV

I never have been visited by an angel as far as I know. :)
You have angels assigned to you....did you know that we will judge angels?
Why do suppose that is?
Because they are assigned to you and you get to judge whether they did a good job or not;)

Yes H2S, this is why I sort of refrained from coming out and saying yes, God is protecting me. Because, as we all know, sometimes, not all are protected, whether they be good or bad, Christian, Muslim or atheist, and so on. So again, I do not have tangible evidence that whatever fortunate or favourable circumstances that have occurred in my life, were directly under the auspices of God. I may be inclined to believe that the 'miraculous' ones were (happened once or twice), but it would be hard to convince anyone else without substantial proof.
So, I find it hard to be dogmatic as to assure anyone, that God will always protect them. I do believe unequivocally that He does, but I cannot predict when, how and why. But, I would think that faith and principle would be the overriding factor?

I had one minister to me one night....he looked like a normal man....but he appeared out of the shadows and called out my name....when he was close enough that I could see him I asked him if I knew him....he said no...I said well how did you know my name? He said the Lord told and He sent me to give you a message...(I will skip all the in-between stuff) and then He said "Jesus loves you very much, stop straddling the fence, choose this day who you are going to serve."
Talk about getting busted! I thanked him for the message and turned to walk away but I stopped and turned around to ask if he would pray for me....but he was gone...
He didn't have wings...wasn't wearing a white robe, he was average height, and he spoke English...lol.
But he appeared and then vanished and he knew me by my name....
This happened around 2AM and I was leaving the bar and dance hall and was fixing to head home with some friends. ( they were in the car and didn't see a thing)....
Anyway....2 weeks later I was no longer straddling the fence...I chose who I wanted to serve.

I’ve told this before on this forum, so feel free to yawn. :D

The night my dad died ...at about 10pm ( he died at 1am)
Dave and I had 4 angels in our bedroom. (Dave slept through it)
I’d been worn out for weeks caring for my 90yr old dad with heart failure.
Night and day...When I saw the angels all I thought was “Praise God they are here looking after dad, so I can get some sleep. “. Seeing them in our room seemed the most normal thing . I did think “Oh wow angels, but thank God...kinda like I was expecting them.
I had my eyes open, I sat up and looked into my dad’s room..both doors were wide open ....all I saw was a white glowy mist , and I could hear bustling activity. I lay down happy with the knowledge that dad would soon see his Jesus and be free to breath again (not that they have to ‘breath’ as we do )
As I dropped off to sleep my thought was..”If Dave and I have two angels each in here , I wonder how many escorting angels dad has! “ I woke up at 1am “knowing” that he had gone...they house felt empty. I woke Dave up and asked him to check with me to be sure before we turned off the oxygen machine. He’d made it Home!
I agree , the angels had no wings. We’re just like strong solid men of 30ish They were about 6’5” ...but I was a bit shocked to see the white robes I wasn’t expecting that!.....oh and the thick blond hair , I was not expecting that! All four were totally identical too!

Yes, I believe in the ministry of angels to the heirs of salvation.

I have had two angelic visits in human form but for personal reasons I refrain from sharing the details (they would be embarrassing to someone in my family).

I also, often, see points of light that appear before my eyes as I am just laying there thinking; and, believing them to be angels, I often ask what their message is, in my mind. At those times, the voices in my mind are not lying or deceptive as they usually are (an assignment, like in the Screwtape Letters).

I believe that the Lord allows me to know when He is speaking by sending angels in the form of pinpoints of light which then give me a message that I can count to be faithful.

That is pretty cool! Where does it talk about this in the Bible? Love to read about that. I know we have angel's assigned to us. Just judging the angel's I never heard about.
