Jesus said in John 3:3, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

And in verse 5 Jesus explains which is Born Again, "Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

The Holy Spirit may be Before "OR" After water baptism...

Holy Ghost After Baptism:
Acts 8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
Acts 8:16 "(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the NAME of the Lord Jesus)."
Acts 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Holy Ghost Before Baptism:
Acts 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Acts 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Either before or after, water baptism is part of the "Born Again" process, and is why those were "commanded" to be baptized in Acts 10:48 (without this, there is not a full birth taking place).

Hearing the gospel and mixed with faith, we enter into the church womb (so to speak).

We must be baptized as part of the new birth process...

John 3:5, "Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

In Acts 2:38 Peter said to...

1). Repent,
2). and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and
3). ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Paul was told in Acts 22:16 And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

When we stand in the waters of baptism calling upon the Name of the Lord, the blood begins to flow and we receive remission of sins. This is the Born Again picture.

1 John 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

1 John 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

here shows that baptism by water isn't required for salvation:
Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

the Holy Spirit is forever and not to be taken lightly. and no lack of water will deny its presence with whom it will. one has already been born into the world.

and besides this wouldn't happen if Jesus meant in John chapter three baptism by water is required, and Jesus explains His statement to Nicodemus:

Joh 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Jesus was there when all things were made.

and as far as water is a witness:

you forget that Jesus walked on the water therefore the water was a witness to them in the boat to who Jesus is.

Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

note that the same gave Peter power to do the same. the water was a witness just as the law was a witness to who Jesus is.

Please read the OP which states, The Holy Spirit may be Before "OR" After water baptism.

Such a theory would suggest that anyone delivered by cesarean section (no water in that procedure) would be ineligible to enter the kingdom of God!

If birth of water means natural birth, then Jesus told Nicodemus to do something that EVERYONE has already done.

did they have cesarean sections on women in the year 33 ad +- when Jesus said that? I didn't know they were medically capable of that? where's the proof for that? you don't even understand that much but you're going to tell us all about it.
you take the statement out of context, read the next thing Jesus says. flesh is flesh and spirit is spirit.

so you are saying Jesus says baptism by water is required and you're incorrect. for you to be correct about what Jesus said then baptism by water would be required first as Jesus says. what Peter says doesn't take precedence over the Lord Himself does it? or are you just wrong? I will go with you are wrong.

Jesus said, "Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

Entering into the kingdom as per Jesus telling Nicodemus born of water and spirit, spans the time-line from just after his death, burial, resurrection, and spans to this very day and until he returns at the 2nd coming. This includes modern people in modern times.

So are you saying that the Bible is contrary to itself? That your position is one scripture trumps another?

Please keep in mind that, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" (2 Timothy 3:16).

And what Peter said was by the Holy Spirit...

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 2:14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
Acts 2:15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
Acts 2:16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, (remember Peter and the rest of the apostles are filled with the Holy Ghost as Peter explains the following)...

"Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

God Bless!

John 3:5, "Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."

What if the reference to Sprinkling of Water is actually pointing to the Work of Christ described in Colossians 2:11-15? First, consider Ezekiel 36:25 and notice that the Water represents Purifying "Work":

Ezekiel 36:25 KJV - "Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you."

As we should know, it is the Work of Christ that Purifies us of our Sin, hence the Holy Operation of God, which is the Circumcision of Christ, who makes us whole and complete.

Colossians 2:10-15 KJV - "And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. 13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 [And] having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it."
