I thought I would post this in the prayer area, but I'm really just looking for information on this and advice. The other day I was forced to go to the walk in clinic as I was having extreme thirst that lasted for hours. I drank a lot of fluids (water and PowerADE) and couldn't go to the bathroom but a little bit in 3 hours. When I did an internet search it came up as dehydration, but I know I was well hydrated.

I've had fasting blood sugar tests where they give you the fructose drink and it showed that I had pre-diabetes. And I talked to the specialist and she said that it could be that I'm having highs and lows and suggested that it might not show up on any labs like the A1C test. Anyways when I was at the walk in clinic they tested me for kidney function and diabetes and all looked good, my blood sugar was 116 which is pretty good and my A1C test came back within normal range.

But I know I wasn't imaging the thirst as it was unquenchable for several hours and even made me feel ill I was so thirsty. It happened two mornings in a row just after my morning coffee and now I'm back to normal. I looked online about "brittle diabetes" and it said it can be dangerous leading to hospitalization and even death.

Thanks for any advice.

So far looking up online I learned that diet is the main defense against brittle diabetes. I'm going to talk to the specialist today and see what advice they might have.

Fruit juice is a good option. You can also get glucose tablets. White sugar should be avoided at all times. Also, coffee can lower blood sugar.

I've been diabetic for about 12 years or so.

Much love!

You definitely don’t have brittle diabetes. That’s something that only happens RARLEY with Type 1 insulin dependent diabetics!

As we get older, our ability to ingest sugar, carbs and fructose fades. A simple diet change handles blood glucose level effectively. Then they may ad booster drugs like metformin to assist.

Get some inexpensive urine test strips to get an idea of how much sugar is being v passed in your urine. They provide useful indicators if you need to take the matter further.

Actually my cystic fibrosis Dr's office suggested that my blood sugar might be going high and low due to the cystic fibrosis. CF requires specialists as it is a rare condition. They are providing me with a blood sugar test kit. Thanks.

I have the opposite, high blood sugar levels type 2 diabetes which means a low carb diet for me. Not sure how to bring low sugar levels up but at work, we used to give residents with low sugar levels, some lemonade and sandwiches and jelly beans sometimes. That would normally bring those levels up....

Thanks, I noticed just eating something does help when I'm shaky and feeling not well. It always ends in fatigue though.

To help with the fatigue, after you have the sweet, have something with some protein and fats, like a nice slice of spam.

Also,

Isaiah 44:12 YLT
He hath wrought iron with an axe, And hath wrought with coals, And with hammers doth form it, And doth work it by his powerful arm, Yea, he is hungry, and there is no power, He doth not drink water, and he is wearied.

Lack of food causes weakness, lack of water causes weariness. Not eating makes you weak, not drinking makes you tired.

Much love!

Yes, I just talked to the dietician and she suggested eating some protein with my pasta and bread to slow down the carb digestion.

One of my friends is diabetic. She's more scared of the lows than the highs, so she slugs down some gawd-awfully sweet soda if she needs to get her blood sugar up in a hurry. She also keeps glucose tabs in her purse in case she can't access her soda.

It's an under-damped system that oscillates between highs and lows, and frankly, I wouldn't recommend it.

I know that Chromium deficiency, can lead to sugar addiction - you would be surprised how many comorbidities start, when your resistance to insulin is off (because it feeds a sugar addiction).

I don't envy you, and pray always that people get the right diabetes advice (I should know! It's hereditary for me).

Thanks for the soda advice, yep I could try that.

Do you have an article on Chromium?

The specialist said that what is happening is that if I eat something with a lot of carbs, my blood sugar goes high and then after a few hours drops low.

The best vitamins that are involved directly in sugar metabolism is the vitamin b complex.
These are b1 thiamine b2 riboflavin b3 niacin b5 pantothenic acid b6 pyridoxine b12 cobalamin

I dont recommend b complex vitamins because they are synthetic and can have side effects like nerve damage.

The best food source is nutritional yeast. This food is grown mostly on beets.
Health food stores sell it. Amazing what it can do for high and low blood sugar.
I recommend 1 or 2 tablespoons a day. Not teaspoons

It mixes in beverages, I prefer water with a touch of orange juice added.
It can be sprinkled on food.

As far as the minerals that work in sugar metabolism chromium is crucial.

It just so happens that another yeast called brewer's yeast a by product of beer manufacturers is excellent.
Look up best food sources, consider taking as a supplement

Neither of these yeasts can cause yeast infection. They are both dead inactive yeast.
