Starr County Memorial Hospital has just 48 beds and serves around 65,000 people. It was, until June, one of the few counties that had managed to keep the coronavirus pandemic largely under control, thanks to a suite of common sense orders like mask rules, large-scale testing, and limits on public gatherings. As a result, Starr County experienced just one daily case of coronavirus — if any — for much of the beginning of the pandemic, according to the Texas Observer.

The county's ability keeping the virus contained was so notable that NBC News highlighted Starr County as a pandemic success story in April. "We are very proud at this point that our numbers are very low, considering we are an at-risk population and the disparity in medical services and our low socio-economic population," Rio Grande City Mayor Joel Villarreal explained to the network. "We rank as one of the poorest counties in the nation. However, that does not deter us."

Among one of the key aspect's of the county's ability to track and contain the virus was its early decision to apply testing to everyone, regardless of insurance, so long as they had a doctor's prescription.

"No discrimination — that is the most important part of our testing," Vasquez said at the time.

But when Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) superseded coronavirus restrictions put in place by local municipalities by hastily ordering his state's re-opening, Starr County saw an astonishing 3000% increase in cases between early June and July.

Now, thanks to skyrocketing numbers and extremely limited medical capacity, Starr County doctors will be forced to triage their patients according to who can stay and who will be forced to leave.

"Unfortunately, Starr County Memorial Hospital has limited resources and our doctors are going to have to decide who receives treatment, and who is sent home to die by their loved ones," county judge Eloy Vera announced earlier this week. "This is what we did not want our community to experience."

Incredibly, Starr County's circumstances are not unique, as more and more communities find themselves overwhelmed by coronavirus cases. Earlier this month, Arizona Department of Health Services Director Dr. Cara Christ announced that hospitals would begin applying "crisis care standards" that would help physicians triage which patients would receive what level of medical attention.
A Texas hospital is so overwhelmed, it's just letting coronavirus win

Remember when the epidemiologists said it was going to head out into the rural areas? Here we are.

I see the celebrations planned in Jacksonville got canceled by this continuing hoax. ;)

Trump Abruptly Cancels Republican Convention in Jacksonville: ‘It’s Not the Right Time’

The Jacksonville convention host committee had about $6 million in various accounts, and had spent some of that money already. It had $20 million in commitments that were still firm on Tuesday, according to two officials involved in the fund-raising. On Wednesday, they were still assessing whether donors would be able to get their money back but assumed they would not be able to do so in full.

Dan Eberhart, a Republican donor, said that many donors didn’t want to give because they believed the event wouldn’t happen. Edward E. Burr, a real estate developer and member of the Jacksonville host committee, said that in the past few days donors had been calling him expressing serious concerns about the rising number of infections in Florida.

“I’m glad Donald Trump took his head out of the sand long enough to realize what a predictable, preventable disaster he was about to inflict on the city of Jacksonville,” Terrie Rizzo, the chairwoman of the Florida Democratic Party, said in a statement. “His ego-driven political stunt has wasted precious time and resources during a pandemic.”
I wonder how many delegates would have shown up. I wonder if the lack of funds for the convention was a factor. I wonder if "fake polls" play a role. Did Hillary or Obama use the "deep state" to scare Trump into believing this "hoax" was real? Was he watching too much CNN? Ha, somebody got him to wear a mask the other day.

The president’s sudden focus on health concerns Thursday came after months of playing down the virus. He predicted only three weeks ago that it would “just disappear,” and pushed party officials to proceed with convention plans despite the alarming spike in virus cases in Florida this month. As of this week, Republican officials were still meeting in the state to make the convention a reality.

But as cases surged, voters, donors and elected officials from both parties expressed skepticism about holding a big gathering just several weeks away. A Quinnipiac University poll released on Thursday showed that 62 percent of the state’s voters thought the convention would be unsafe to hold. The poll also showed Mr. Biden leading Mr. Trump by 13 percentage points in Florida; in a Quinnipiac poll in April, Mr. Biden had a four-point lead.

It's driving him crazy. All that stuff used to work for him. Now, every stunt he tries, backfires on him.

Now he can remember things that didn't happen.

Trump told Barstool a detailed story about getting booed with Melania at the Robin Hood Foundation charity dinner around the night he announced his campaign in 2015. They haven't gone to that dinner since 2011. And the 2015 event was a month before he announced.

Trump has the fullness of invention in him. It's regrettable that he's short on being factual.

Confabulation was one of his behaviors long before his mind began to go...

Donald Trump on Friday denied that he posed as his own spokesman in a 1991 telephone interview, despite an audio recording that reveals his publicist had a remarkably similar voice to the real estate mogul and had exhaustive details about Trump’s personal life.

A Washington Post report details how Trump posed as “John Miller” or “John Barron” throughout his career when talking to reporters to promote positive stories about himself and float dating rumors. The Post obtained an audio recording of a decades-old interview between Miller and People magazine reporter Sue Carswell that reveals Trump’s spokesmen sounded nearly identical to the now presumptive Republican presidential nominee — from his tone, to his cadence, to his catchphrases.

Carswell told NBC News Friday she has no doubt that the audio is authentic, and is of the interview conducted back in 1991.

"It's absolutely Donald Trump," Carswell said. "There's no doubt in my mind," she added.

On the TODAY show Friday, Trump denied ever posing as his own publicist. But in a court case in 1990, Trump testified under oath, "I believe on occasion I used that [John Barron] name." And a July 13, 1990 Newsday article states: “At one point, Trump, who spends millions of dollars advertising his name, acknowledged that he has used an alias, 'John Baron.' 'I believe on occasion I used that name,' Trump said, not elaborating."

^^^Interestingly, Yehren, Trump's son's name 'Baron' is derived from Trump's pseudonym, 'John Baron'. Trump's ego shines forth even in the naming of his son.

It's regrettable that he's short on being factual.
As written in Scripture, and understood as God Says of the carnal world opposed to Jesus, "ALL men are liars", not just him.

And not for good reasons - usually or always for self-greed, self-protection, self-promotion, selfishness, fear, wanting the approval of others, etc etc etc as written.

Is that regrettable ? It is in God's Plan and stated in God's Word !
Is that regrettable ?

I wonder why Trump thinks it's too dangerous for republicans to come together now, but it's just fine for teachers and students to do so.

Some lives are worth more than others to him, it seems.

Maybe the Donald is tired of having Barron underfoot all day long and wants him back in school.

Barron Trump's school will not fully reopen in the fall

The school attended by President Trump's 14-year-old son Barron, St. Andrew's Episcopal School, will not fully reopen in the fall, according to an announcement on its website.

At a coronavirus task force briefing on Wednesday, Mr. Trump said he had "no problem" with Barron and his grandchildren returning to school full-time as he pushes for schools nationwide to reopen full-time in the fall.

The St. Andrew's website said the school has been preparing for either full-time distance learning or a hybrid model with students learning both on and off campus. The school said it is "hopeful that public health conditions will support our implementation of the hybrid model in the fall." It also left open the possibility of continuing with distance learning implemented in March.

I wonder if Melania is now too old to remain Trump's trophy wife. It's possible. Perhaps Trump, who can never truly love anyone, is emotionally moving towards that decision of discarding Melania and Baron, in much the same way he discarded Marla Maples and Tiffany Trump.

Trump doesn't have empathy because of his family past. Perhaps having Baron returning to school is a sign of him having gotten tired of his aging trophy wife. It's a kind of sad thought if it's true.
