The translation process can do that in any type of document. Your KJV has the same discrepancies, only a nut-case would say otherwise. How do you explain the apparent contradiction if it does in fact say what you think it says?

I John 1:101Jo 1:8 (niv), If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
1Jo 1:8 (esv), If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jo 1:8 (nasb), If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.
1Jo 1:8 (nlt), If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.
All of these translations are in conjunction with my doctrine on this matter.
While 1 John 1:8 is referring to indwelling sin in the present, 1 John 1:10 is referring to practical sins in the past.I John 1:10
If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

Oh, but you do sin - for he who claims to have no sin, makes God out to be a liar!
Already answeredThen how is he able to ask the Lord to quicken him?
No only Jesus was SINLESS. Try reading and believing the bible. All have sinned and there is none righteous no not one. The one who says he has not sinned is a liar and the truth is not in him.Read the next verse. It is how to become sinless.

well missy we live in this world and heaven is in the future. in the meantime sin is a reality. We were all slaves of sin until Jesus frees us. John 8:32-36. If you say you are not a slave to sin as these Pharisees did, then you are a liar. But whom the Son frees from sin is free indeed. Jesus came to make sinners children of God, which you can't be if you are a slave to sin. He takes the sin nature out of us when we come to Him and nails it on the cross. We are no longer bound to its desires. We are free to choose, and we choose righteousness, because we are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells inside of us. Anyone without the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. That's the gospel in a nutshell, but you can't accept it?
There will be no slaves of sin in heaven. Revelation 22:11.

I'm not a calvinist any more things you want to make up ?The truth shall set you free. John 8:32(-36) Unfortunately, "the truth" is NOT what they teach in Calvinism.

Having talked with both of you, I believe this disagreement comes down to a difference in terminology. Correct me if I wrong anywhere here--We were all slaves of sin until Jesus frees us. John 8:32-36. If you say you are not a slave to sin as these Pharisees did, then you are a liar. But whom the Son frees from sin is free indeed. Both of you agree on the following:
- Each of us humans has imperfections and the natural inclination to go against what the Lord commands. We can be prideful, lazy, etc.
- Before coming to Christ, at some point every person will make an action which against what the Lord commands.
- Coming to Christ doesn't give a person a license to break the Lord's commands whenever we want.
- After coming to Christ, at some point every person will make an action which against what the Lord commands.
- Said actions which go against the Lord's commands are wrong.
- Said actions can indeed be erased through the blood of Christ.
The difference is the term used for those actions that go against the Lord's commands. Myself and @Christophany both call these actions "sins". @CharismaticLady does not call them "sins". Different words being used, but extremely similar messages being intended.
like hagin, copeland, osteen, johnson you are a name it claim it, prosperity gospel, charismatic, pentecostal, faith healing, word of faith, sinless perfectionist false teacher. You may not put that label on it, but Calvinism has permeated into most Protestant denominational thinking, even Pentecostals, except the only denomination of the Reformation that wasn't effected because of its founder, John Wesley. "4 You have a few names even in Sardis who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with Me in white, for they are worthy."
Could you help me figure out where the meaning differs from what I posted? (Re-posting below for convenience)There is a larger gap between he and I than semantics. We are accountable for what we teach. James 3:1
Say it again for those of us who are a little dense.Already answered
