Anyone who believes an uplifting word is the cure, has no idea what clinical depression is.
to that i can say that relying on a guy who profits when you are sick for your health care strikes me as being as sensible as relying on a politician to tell you what your food pyramid should look like; i just don't get it personally.

Depression and panic attacks, migraines, and some other symptoms are finally being recognized as auto-immune problems, bad gut iow, i can clear that up in about a month or so in most people, unless they are just in love with their diseases, or have had an appendectomy. "Clinical Depression" almost always translates as "i love McDonalds" or something similar in my experience

We must weigh costs and benefits.
the problem there is we go to people dedicated to palliative care--who are very open about this, not even trying to hide it--and expect them to cure our problem, when this is not even possible.

Just ask your doc what caused your problem, next time you go in with a complaint, and ask him what you could do to cure the problem, and you should pretty quickly detect the formula they use to steer you away from that and toward symptom treatment, or if you have a good doc, at least an education

The point being that you go in to see a doctor expecting to walk out with something, a product he has sold you--quite often a placebo even--and the doctor already knows that you prolly won't be satisfied hearing "ok, stop eating _______" or "stop drinking _________." And of course hardly any of them want you to balance your omega ingestion and get your gut bacteria right, because then they would pretty much be out of a job.

Yes symptom management sums up American medicine. I believe the is due to our consumeristic society. We hold our doctors responsible for patching us up so we can continue consuming. They do not sell health because no one is buying it. We are buying antacid and viagra, not preventative care for diabetes and heart disease. Dentists stay in business by promoting dental implants not hammering patients about flossing.

Free market medicine doesn't work. If a doctor has to worry about staying in business in order to provide medical care, there is a fundamental problem.

Some good posts here and very wise.
Doctor are for sure in the drug market, and often get a Kick by pushing new pills to try on guinea pig patients. I take them at a last resort, but I take em.
I have spent much money on naturopaths ...I find them almost the same as doctors. ( selling product) We do eat almost 100% organic. We do our part, then have to trust God for the rest. I do believe 100% in healing and have been blessed many times by miracles after healing prayer.

I must admit, once I past my ' score years and ten'...I just suck it up and take my pills ...
Much about God I don't understand, or pretend to...and this area is one of them :)

a great one for "clinical depression" is, poop 3 times a day. Naturally, without laxatives. I can't think of any other remediation that has ever been needed for clients with "clinical depression." Actually the harder part is to get them off the meds that the doctors put them on, especially if they are averse to pot.

you cannot poop even once a day and expect to be very content, because you are swimming in your own toxins. You will never, ever find someone who claims "depression" that poops 3 times a day or more. Ever.

I was told once that shooting or stabbing an animal in the neck helps a little with some depression, perhaps even better than some pharmaceuticals. I have plenty of stray animals in my neighborhood, so now I at least have one remedy that doesn't involve popping pills. Punching a hole in the wall helps too, but it may not be even for the manliest among us since it can be painful. :)

I was told that sitting alone in a cave would cure my depression.

Who knew...

well, that will cure pretty much everything, but i would get my bowels moving right before i went, i guess. Prolly optional tho. Understand that the sitting alone in a cave is not even something you could likely do right now, for more than about 2 hours, ok. Takes 3 days or so before you even meet The Monster i guess

Oh fun. :D
I enjoy the Weather Thread and reading how things are in everyone's part of the world.
But this one tops it! :D
Well done @lforrest in starting it...this must be the most entertain thread on the Site!

Now we can also catch up on everyones bodily habits too! Yay!

I have heard of burping at will, never heard yet of sneezing at will...and never ever ever heard of pooping at will.
I must tell my daughter how healthy she is , as she can do it.
Plus I must tell one of my grand daughters how unhealthy she is, as her habit is every three days!!

So @bbyrd009 ..just how does everyone move ourselves from once a day to three times a day without laxatives?o_O

NOT saying that what you put forward here does not make perfectly good sense, it sure does....
A baby's poop three times a day after every meal.... our dog does too.

So...how do we sluggards here move our bodies from one to three times a day.., at will???

I would LOVE to get off all my meds, no kidding. :)

i'd go with roughage and crunches, or some other core muscle stimulation; swimming works great if you're older. My dad was 80, so i just had him lay in his chair and pick his knees up one at a time for about ten reps each, and then pick his chest up for ten reps, a couple of times a day. Of course in a week or two ten reps gets too easy, i could always tell when to up his dose there because he would stop complaining lol

Of course the cave thing is more about going out into the wilderness, or away from the world, however you wanna put it. I guess sensory deprivation produces similar effects a lot quicker though, although your hallucinations will likely be colored differently if you haven't fasted first; but i'm just guessing there

omega 3 will help a lot, it is like natural speed. Get as much as possible from plant sources, Dave's Killer Bread, or the steel cut oatmeal with flax and chia, there's only one brand--Homestead farms, maybe? ah, Homestat Farm. Start with a 3 day fast though (kills the candida). And then find some fermented food
