They have no idea my friend , how that GOD always works whatever comes against us to our good .
Just watch . Some are gonna start waking up and growing only bolder in the faith .
Remember what paul also wrote . HE said that due to his chain , his being in prison ,
Some were being made bold . Persecution dont destroy the church , IT REFINES IT MY FRIEND .
GOD is in control . YES HE IS . And yes we ought to pray for the leaders , however fear them not .
We are entering a time where persecutions will pick up .
JESUS is with the lambs . And where some church leaders might sell out , rest assured other lambs will rise up
and start doing house churches and start boldy proclaiming the gospel truth . Just watch .
The world thinks it can scare the church into silence . NOT the lambs it wont .
THE more we suffer , the more we lose things for JESUS sake and take it patiently , THE BOLDER GOD IS GONNA MAKE OUR FAITH .
SING to the LORD my friend . Whether we live , die or suffer for JESUS , WE BELONG TO THE KING and thus WE HAVE ALL HOPE .
NOW Lift those hands up as high as you can and just SING TO THE LORD my friend . GOD has the lambs .
Amen!!!

They think they are taking away.

But this light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far greater eternal weight of glory!

Hallelujah!

When this world persecutes us for the sake of our glorious Lord , LEAP UP and REJOICE .
For then the marvelous LORD is actually counting us worthy to suffer shame for HIS NAME .
WE WIN my friends . FOR JESUS HAS ALREADY WON .
What can man truly do to us . I mean think about that . Number one GOD has to allow it , so if he does , TAKE IT with patience .
But my question remains , what on earth can man really do to us .
YES , HE can persecute us , Yes he can even throw us in prison
Yes he can take away our earthen things and even take and kill us .
BUT HE CANT TAKE CHRIST FROM US . SO WE SING THROUGH IT ALL . AND if GOD allows us to be killed
THEN WE ARE PRESENT WITH THE LORD . SO my question remains , WHAT CAN MAN REALLY DO UNTO US .
That GOD himself will not be with us through it all . As we suffer for HIM , HE WILL CONSOLE US .
NOW LET the KING BE PRAISED MY FRIENDS . Forgive those who persecute . Bless and curse not those who do you evil .
BUT never conform to no lie .

1 Peter 4:1-2 KJV
1) Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2) That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

I think one translation uses the word "resolve", resolve yourself to this same mindset as Jesus, to patiently endure all suffering, knowing we follow in the footsteps of Christ.

The fellowship of suffering . . . as we share in His suffering, we share in His life.

Much love!

Instead we go to town with some fellow Christians and hand out coffee and food to street people.
Done this now for 3 weeks on sunday.

That kind of stood out to me, if you had been able to meet at the church those street people would not have had your support or interaction. Not really wanting to get in to a debate about what’s right, wrong, true or false because that’s all the focus seems to be on with many. As far as I am concerned God is still in control and I trust in Romans 8:28 ..........that outreach probably speaks to others more about the gospel and Jesus than reactions to a church being shut. ...........
Rita
I'll just say God has many ways to steer His people. Definitely working this for our good!

Much love!

Check out the research on lockdowns. They do not significantly affect Covid contagion outcomes. Part of loving thy neighbor is to build them up in the most holy faith.

If it's true that lockdowns prevent the spread, that's one thing. The CDC says they don't. So why are the rulers killing economies, and people's ability to put food on their table, why are they preventing families from being together, churches from meeting?

The disease makes the rounds whether we lockdown or not.

You are witnessing Marxist Socialism in "takeover" mode.

Much love!

I'm normally a pretty reliable right-of-center voter, but on this matter, I veer sharply to the left.

I don't know if it would do any good, but I think the Christians of that community, no matter what denomination, should gather around the fence and sing hymns. Perhaps, take off the masks and sing very loudly and with great exuberance, not just for an hour, but all day and in shifts. Sing songs of joy; sing songs of praise; sing hymns that tell the good news story.

Non-stop peaceful demonstration. I like it!

Much love!

Every Christian should be outraged.
Really?

As if God is not in control of all things, and I'm able to turn my concerns over to Him, and just be at peace and rest?

When you think about it, we're just talking emotional affect, which is more a reflection of your perceptions, thoughts, values, choices, like that.

We can have all the same points of view, that this is wrong, harmful, needless, illegal, overreaching, all of it, but without all the anger. We can do all the same things against it if we choose, but not being overwhelmed by negative emotional energy.

And besides . . . the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Much love!

What Canada needs now is Stompin' Tom. I bet he would've had something to say about all this!
If violent far-left extremists attack the church, they'll have to get by the fence. lol
Funny how things can work out...if we repent. Shalom.

Liquor stores were allowed to remain open as a MERCY.... and so as NOT to add to the stress of things. Whether that was wise or not is up for opinion.
My life is characterized by the time I spend at work, at a small manufacturing company with 5 employees. I spend my day alone in my office running the company and covering the phones.

You are my spiritual contact during the day. An internet chat room. Not to downplay your importance! But it's not personal contact. My wife and I live alone, and the reality is that we have hardly anyone we associate with because,

Those needs were met in our church. I was very active in our church, leading a weekly group, doing the monthly potluck, the Bible study in the assisted living, "lay-pastoring" if you will in the congregation. I was in church or church related activities 3 & 4 times a week. With the stroke of a pen it was all gone. And according to the current science, without that much benefit anyway.

Now, a year later, I feel the more the loss. My wife . . . she's not working sense the shutdowns began. So she doesn't even have the limited social interaction that I have at work. She only has me.

To me, an equal mercy would be for those who want to meet, let them meet.

Much love!

Enoch - did not declare you HAVE to believe, or MUST accept or HAVE to agree with his opinion or basis.
He did say we should all be outraged. I don't think so myself.

I agree with this scripture Charity. And I very much appreciate you pointing this out. Nonetheless, I am compelled to consider whether Peter has placed a qualification on his admonition when he states the purpose of government? We should submit ourselves to the government as long as the government is doing the will of God, i.e. punishing the wicked and rewarding the good? What if a dictator or a government enforces anti-human, anti-life, and profoundly immoral and wicked rules? It seems to me that Peter wouldn't ask us to submit to any government that has abdicated its God-given responsibility to punish evildoers to become the evildoers they are supposed to punish?

What do you think?

1 Corinthians 7:21 KJV
Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.

I look at this verse. If there are legal means by which to obtain greater freedom, we can benefit from that greater freedom.

Peaceful demonstrations are one of the first things to come to my mind.

Much love!

The whole point is that the rules are not consistent.
There are different rules for different institutions and different businesses.
It's ok to run around with 200 people in Costco stores and Walmarts, and touch the merchandise.
It's not ok to sit in church, 5 feet apart.
Just so!

Sears can't open, because they don't sell groceries, but Wal-mart can sell clothes and furniture and tools.

Not fair!

Much love!

Charity,

I also wrote that it was the pastor's privilege to suffer for Christ and if we are looking back to the first century I am reminded of the fact that Peter and Paul and others suffered arrest at the hands of the state for preaching the gospel.
Hello @CadyandZoe

That pastor was not suffering for Christ: and he can stand on a street corner and preach the gospel, or in a local park; he does not need to enter a building in order to do so. This is a ridiculous analogy.

It is time to behave like mature adults, and consider those at risk within our communities.

Thank you
In Christ Jesus
Chris

Yes indeed the best meeting is always in person . We will also take advantage of phone and computer to reach others as well .
I think a good idea would be for some to meet in houses and such and do the work of our LORD . OH let none give up .
The LORD can surely gather lambs to meet . I mean look at china . They are persecuted and beat down by police and in prison .
Yet the LORD still has them able to meet in private . Yep . Just let us trust in the glorious Lord . And , YES , LET THE LORD BE PRAISED .

I'm going to perhaps be a little provocative here, but maybe this kind of thing is the very best thing that could happen to the church.
Remember history. Jerusalem was surrounded by Roman armies. The armies withdrew for a short period and the Christians I'm Jerusalem saw this as a fulfillment of Jesus warning to escape which they did. The Christians I'm Jerusalem went to Antioch, Perea, and numerous other cities and Nations round about Palestine. The gospel went with them.
Remember Babel. God doesn't want us shut up in our little ivory towers doing religion. We should be on the streets. The gospel needs to be outside the buildings, not shut up inside. As @Triumph1300 and his friends are doing... Going out in the streets and offering assistance to the homeless and the poor. Sometimes it takes events like this to teach us what is truly important.

Charity,
I agree with your basic premise, i.e. be at peace with all men. However those among our study group, here where I live, are asking a very important question. When does peace with the world amount to agreement with the world? When is it time to remain silent, and when is it time to speak up? Jesus did both. He took chords and drove out the money-changers; he also allowed himself to be taken prisoner and crucified on a cross. I take from this that passive resistance is sometimes appropriate, while at other times active resistance is necessary.

This is why I suggested that the churches in that city gather at the church and sing hymns. Nothing violent about that.

I am reminded of the children's book by Dr. Seuss called "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", in which the Whos down in Whoville gathered to sing Christmas Carols, even after the Grinch stole everything in town. Perhaps the people of that city will come to realized that there is more to Christian worship than a building.

I also wrote that it was the pastor's privilege to suffer for Christ and if we are looking back to the first century I am reminded of the fact that Peter and Paul and others suffered arrest at the hands of the state for preaching the gospel.
Jesus never whipped the civil Government. It was the religious leadership that He objected to.

Poor @Enoch111 ... you are setting off the fire alarm AFTER the fire has already burned down the building.
You are way too late to effectuate any kind of change.. and are far too earthly minded to know what
God is actually doing. You have knowledge but lack wisdom.

This is the time to be repenting... and getting right with God... as well as getting your affairs in order.
Things are changing and will continue to change at warp speed... Many Christians who are NOT prepared
will be lost and trampled.
Addy speaks truth . Though through the years i have been often rejected by many , my love for the peoples only grows .
ADDY IS RIGHT . Many folks always pray for mercy , for judgment to cease , for the nation or etc to be blessed . Which is fine , but they forget
what spared ninevah . Ponder this . Did jonas go to ninevah and encourage the people
to set up leaders , or to REPENT . I would not worry about these politicians , nor heed any promises from men in the pulpits
who say , ALAS if we just had the right democrat , or republican in office how life would be better . NOPE .
HEED THIS . REPENT . However we are just in the days where the world was not gonna do that as a whole .
We are living in the days where inquity will abound and deceptions will only abound .
We will see individuals repenting , but as a whole we will see the climax of the fallling away keep increasing .
GOD is with the lambs and yes in this world we are gonna see persecutions . But our end is GOOD IN CHRIST .
The message must be , REPENT , REPENT and BELIEVE IN THE GLORIOUS LORD JESUS and LEARN HIM
and BE YE HOLY for GOD is HOLY . Walk after the SPIRIT and not the flesh .
