Well, when Prayer Warrior speaks I sit up and take notice.
While I am guilty of sometimes believing that the end justifies the means....because I believe in righteous stompings, and that is what would have happened there.
They needed a lesson in respect. Christian love with no respect.
Blasting children cannot be good.
Religiously speaking, the OT was full of God fears....that was there relationship with God. In the NT we are God lovers. A different relationship....The family of God....what does the song say....friends of Christ.
I'm all for showing respect. I really do try to be respectful even though I'm sorely tempted to be rude at times (and have given in to the temptation sometimes).
Who determines what is respectful, though? You? Society? Some would say that preaching the gospel is not respectful. So do we stop preaching? One time the Holy Spirit led my daughter to tell a woman that Jesus loves her. The woman was offended. Maybe this is a different issue from showing respect, but do we stop doing what God is leading us to do because we are perceived as being disrespectful or offensive?
Many years ago, my parents told me that I had preached at them (implying disrespect). I asked them when I had preached at them. They said that I had quoted the Bible, and this was perceived as preaching. I know that both of my parents are in heaven right now, and I believe that God used those times that I quoted the Bible to them even though they didn't like it. Of course, God used other things in their lives as well.
Anyway, just thinking "out loud" about what you said about showing respect. It seems fairly subjective.
