Romans 6:3-4
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Are we immersed in water, or in Christ?

Much love!
Mark
Scripture teaches ONE BAPTISM....when one is baptized they are immersed (preferred method) in water just like scripture says.

Define what "baptism into Jesus" means to YOU and I will tell you.

Being immersed into Jesus in His death, burial, and resurrection, so we can then go on to say, I've been co-crucified with Jesus, and though I'm still alive, it's actually Jesus alive in me, and my life now is His faith in me giving me life.

Much love!

Thank you taken.

Matt 3:6 says that they confessed their sins and were baptized. It was NOT a baptism for the remission of sins as you believe. Who taught you this?

You are replying to my post that SAID:

Scripture teaches TWO Baptisms.

1) John's Baptism with WATER.
...This was NOT a Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
...This was a Baptism with Water, FOR:
........Remission of Sins.

2) Baptism of Jesus Christ, is Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus' Baptism HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WATER.

Then YOU ASK "WHO" taught that.

Then YOU QUOTE "a Passage" from scripture that REVEALS the TWO "DIFFERENT" Baptisms;

Matt 3:11 says I baptize you with water for repentance.....He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Johns baptism was along with repentance. The Trinitarian baptism washes away sin; just like scripture says. Jesus baptism, taught by the Apostles, was CLEARLY different then Johns.

Then you claim the TWO BAPTISMS ARE "CLEARLY DIFFERENT".

Mary ~ Your question IS SENSELESS.
I CLEARLY stated TWO Baptisms were taught IN SCRIPTURE.
You Disagreed with me.
Then you proceed to prove with Scripture what I said IS TRUE!

Acts 19:4 makes it VERY CLEAR that Johns water baptism was different then the Trinitarian baptism. It was not valid that is why they had to get RE-BAPTIZED 19:5 which you conveniently left out.
No Kidding.
Conveniently left out?
No. I already Addressed:
The TWO Baptisms.

Johns baptism DOES NOT equal a Trinitarian Baptism. It is not the same. Scripture teaches ONE BAPTISM in the New Covenant: the Trinitarian baptism.

No Kidding.

Scripture (Acts 8, Acts 10, 1 Peter 3, Acts 22) and Christian historical writings make it clear that Jesus baptism did have to do with water.

Mary ~ So you have "CLEARLY SAID",
Water Baptism is "NOT VALID".
Now you Claim "JESUS' BAPTISM REQUIRES WATER"?

The baptism of John did not confer grace, but only prepared the way for grace.

ELABORATE YOUR POINT ~
ARE you Claiming;

1) a Person MUST receive A WATER BAPTISM, BEFORE they "are Prepared to Receive" The BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT" ?

You should run away from whoever taught you that it didn't have to do with water. They are lying to you.

A LIE? No. Read carefully.
WHO does the Repenting.
AND WHAT "THEY" receive "FOR" Repenting.
(And DO NOT DISMISS, "the WHO", First CONFESSES BELIEF IN Jesus the Christ.)

Acts 2
[37] Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

[38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Clearly "THEY", (men and brethren...ie JEWS) ASKED, what they should do.

Clearly "the APOSTLES" ANSWERED....
Repent and Be BAPTIZED in the NAME of JESUS CHRIST...........FOR .....
The Remission of Sins,
And
To Receive the Holy Spirit.

Mary ~ WHERE IS WATER MENTIONED as being NECESSARY to RECEIVE the Baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT?

Mary ~ WHERE IS there Mention, THAT ONE PERSON can "REPENT" for another PERSON?

Does YOUR CATHOLIC CHURCH TEACH,
WATER Baptism of BABIES ?

ARE THE BABIES....ASKING FOR Remission OF "THEIR SINS" ?

WHAT BAPTISM ARE THE BABIES "RECEIVING" (without THEMSELVES Repenting ?)

WHICH Baptism?
Water Baptism? (that you called INVALID)?
Holy Spirit Baptism? (When THEY DID NOT REPENT) ?

And....AT WHAT POINT Does a BABY Confess "BELIEF" in Jesus Christ?

CAN YOU ANSWER?

Glory to God,

While this is a common practice, it is not the primary reason for Christian baptism, and may even be a misuse of baptism.

Christian baptism proclaims that the one being baptized is fully identified with Christ -- "in Christ" -- and has already been baptized with the Holy Spirit.

History reveals in the OT ~

Priests used WATER to "purify" themselves Before entering the Temple.

(Clean and Pure) Animal Blood was used Yearly for Remission of SIN, "of the People."

One (John) "would come Baptising" with Water; For the Remission of Sin.

(Handy, since the the Jerusalem Temple was the ONLY Place Animal Blood could be USED for presenting A Clean / Pure Animal and it's Blood for Remission of Sins)....and
The Revealing of the TEMPLE'S Distruction).

The ONE (John) is revealed, Baptising WITH WATER...FOR the Remission of Sins.

BEFORE, a "YEARLY" Baptism with WATER, became A CUSTOM / TRADITION (like the Yearly Animal Blood WAS at the TEMPLE)....

JESUS IS REVEALED as the "ONE" WHO
1) HEARS, a mans HEARTFELT CONFESSION of;
BELIEF, in God, In Jesus,
2) HEARS, a mans Confession of REPENTENCE of;
Having "DISBELIEF'
JESUS;
3) IS THE FORGIVER of a mans SIN of Having had DISBELIEF.
JESUS:
4) IS the ONE WHO....
BAPTIZES with the "HOLY SPIRIT";
5) ONCE and FOREVER.

Men...{ie JEWISH Brethren} had been PRACTICING Animal presentment at the Temple.

The Practice BECAME CORRUPT, (ie the buying and selling of animals in the Temple Court).

John was SENT (as foretold in Isaiah) to replace (Animal Blood Repentance) with Water Baptism Remission of Sins.

SOME Jews began Participating IN JOHNS WATER BAPTISM.

JESUS Acknowledges Johns Baptism...BY Participating IN John's Baptism.

(The FACT is MEN SAW Jesus' Participation in John's Water Baptism of Jesus.

The FACT is; Jesus' WATER BAPTISM DID NOT, "WASH AWAY" SIN. Jesus HAD NO SIN.

The FACT is; Jesus' WATER BAPTISM, "was" Jesus' INTRODUCTION to the "World".

Matt 3
[17] And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

And forward....JEWISH men were chosen By Jesus, to follow Jesus, to learn from Jesus, to Serve Jesus, to Teach Jews, what they Learned from Jesus.

And forward.....From JEWISH men, Gentiles Heard, Learned.....and SOME, trusted to BELIEVE.

Fact is; while JEWS were hearing of John's Baptism for remission of SINS...
"THEY" began being "BAPTIZED" in WATER.

Fact is: when Jews BEGAN hearing of "JESUS'" Baptism of the Holy Spirit...
"THEY" Stopped being "BAPTIZED" in WATER.
"AND" Began ACCEPTIING "JESUS" Baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT.

Fact is: Jews STOPPED...
Animal presentment (as a SIN Offering) in a Temple, that no longer existed.

Fact is: Jews STOPPED...
Receiving John's Baptism with Water, for Remission of Sins.

Fact is; MANY Jews STOPPED...
Believing and Teaching "JESUS" is the Christ Messiah.

Fact is: Gentiles Began Believing IN the Jewish Heavenly God.

Fact is: Gentiles Began Believing IN Jesus the Jewish Christ Messiah.

Fact is: Gentiles WIDELY Adopted, the TEACHING of Gentile men....THAT "BOTH" Baptisms ....
Baptism of John (water)
Baptism of Jesus (Holy Spirit)
IS NECESSARY To BE FORGIVEN and RECEIVE the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Scripture Itself ... Teaches NO SUCH THING.

Nor does Scripture TeACH.... that ONE man can make a CONFESSION OF BELIEF or REPENTANCE for an other Person.

Johns WATER BAPTISM is MOOT, for Remission of Sins...and for Receiving of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus IS the Forgiver of Sins.
Jesus IS the Giver of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus IS the Converted of Men.
The Converted men BECOME a MEMBER of CHRISTS CHURCH.

And ONCE ^ THAT was REVEALED...
Animal BLOOD...became MOOT.
Water Baptism...became MOOT.

It is MEN who require WATER BAPTISM to become a MEMBER of their MAN MADE CHURCH.

It is JESUS who requires the Baptism of the HOLY SPIRIT to become a MEMBER of "HIS" Spiritual Church.
Jesus Spiritually BATHES ( ONCE and PERMANENTLY, not yearly) the man IN HIS BLOOD...."NOT WATER"!

Glory to God,

Your post has not addressed what I said. If you are suggesting that Christian water baptism by immersion is not necessary for believers, then that is an attempt to contradict what is clearly spelled out in Scripture.

Everything else is irrelevant.

If what you got from my post is that WATER BAPTISM is not Necessary....

Then you got EXACTLY my Point.

No. That does NOT Contractict Scripture.

Scripture teaches ONCE Knowledge IS REVEALED, The REVEALED KNOWLEDGE, supersedes, what Before APPLIED.

When MEN heard of Animal Sacrifice ...
They brought their Sin Offering to the Temple.

When MEN heard of John's Water Baptism...
They were Baptized with John's Baptism.

When Men heard of Jesus' Baptism...
They were Baptized with Jesus' Baptism.

Jesus' Baptism IS Sufficient FOR:
Forgiveness of ALL Sins, Sanctification, Justification, Restoration of a mans SOUL, and Quickening of a mans SPIRIT.

What DOES "John's WATER Baptism" DO for a man, that Jesus' Baptism DOES NOT DO?

Yeah, I would say that Jesus's baptism pretty much overshadows Johns. He covers it all. I don't get why baptism is so difficult for some to understand, same with "free will". Humans complicate everything. o_O

I guess I didn't make myself clear....for that I apologize.

As you stated there are two baptisms with water talked about in Scripture.

The only one that matters to us Christians, 2000 years later, is the Trinitarian baptism with water taught by Jesus and the Apostles.

I hope this clears up any confusion.

This is interesting Mary, how many Christians have you baptized?
I have not had the opportunity to baptize anyone and no one has asked me to baptize them. When given the opportunity to I will fulfill His commandment.

You?

I haven't changed my beliefs but I have learned alot....which increased my understanding on things I wasn't to clear on. Example: I didn't know that the Sabbath was changed from Saturday to Sunday by a man in the 1300's or something like that.....I never gave it any thought and it has helped me understand the basis of the SDA faith. I am not persuaded that I am going to be judged for keeping Sunday as a Sabbath because I consider everyday a day to keep holy.

Which means that you are teaching others to disobey Christ. That is absolutely amazing for anyone calling themselves Christian!

BTW a torrent of words does not make up for a lack of truth.

Actually it goes back to the fact that Christ is become the firstfruits of them that slept; and that lawkeeping is not a part of the new economy, as Galatians shows.

When I started this thread, I asked the Question:- Has Anyone Changed Their Mind?

Right here in the thread proves our answer = NO.
Nothing will ever change Marymog 's mind...she will always keep on repeating here same old arguments...

But, I can see we too..all fall into the same boat. We seem solid on what we believe or we wouldn't believe it!
But some...just feel that they must keep on and on beating the same old drum.

It's been an interesting enlightening thread though.

But I am totally bored with this baptism thing...mainly because we have had so many threads on it before...and it always shows we are each solid on what WE believe.
