This is a bit deceptive as you have never dealt with it. I mean you have commented on it and dodged the main point as artfully as you are now. Debates like these aren't good edification for a new believer but you have to keep pushing your error so expect some push back.
I agree with the statement I put into bold. @Riven

@Matthias Have you considered that Riven has only been a believer for a few days? Constantly going after him can be repellent.

I’m not going after him. I worked with him a long time to get him where he is today; longer than anyone else here has. I’ve seen him move from Agnosticism to Christianity.

I posted my final message to him this morning.

@Matthias, when I was a child, we used to have this Catholic minister who began to come to my little village. I understood through various teachings that it was impossible to completely keep the law; even as an 8-year-old, I could see that this was impossible. I used to pray to Father God during those times because I believed in God and I saw what he could do, especially as the enemy was determined to destroy my young life. One day he spoke to me audibly, but I did not recognize him, and I asked him who he was, and he made it very clear to me that he was Jesus. That is why I 100% believe that no one can come to Father God except through his son, Jesus Christ. JM2C:thumbsupx1

I know the voice. John 14:6.

I had many encounters with the Lord prior to the minister coming to our small community.

It was not a dream, btw. I was standing on the verandah of my house one day when I heard an audible voice. calling out my name. I thought it was my brothers, but they did not answer me. This happened a few times before I realized it was not them. That is when I asked the voice who he was, and he said that he was Jesus. This revelation did not affect anyone except me. Later on (in hindsight) I realized that I was talking with the Lord, not Father God.

Whether you believe this or not, this understanding is backed up by scripture. John 14:6 as Matthias has pointed out. Galatians 4:6, John 6:44.

one day when I heard an audible voice

I also have heard an audible voice in my childhood. The voice distinctly and strongly said "go home." A couple of weeks later we found out the father at that house had tied up and molested a child.

Just before I heard the voice, he had told me we would go downstairs together. After hearing the voice I told his kids I had to go and eat dinner. Never went back.

Riven, you were hanging around this forum for a long time before you became a Christian, so you knew this is what we Christians are really like, right?

Not all of us are like that, thankfully.

you're getting yourself all worked up over nothing and are getting more agitated as we continue on this conversation. Thinks it's time you had a break from this thread. :okbro
And we can see why some people are turned off from our faith.

Thinking of you @Riven Hope you are holding up during the hot Summers there. We have had over 60 days of a bad heat wave. It's humid, normally we have dry heat. They say we might even have a little rain tomorrow which is unheard of for August here. But I hope we do...I love rain.

I put this on and pretend it's raining when it's not. Fools the cat sometimes. :funlaugh2

Yes. I went to a Christian private school in the early 2000's. I joined a Christian forum because there aren't many decent forums left in general. They're a bit of a relic from a bygone era. But I like them more than the alternatives.

I am agnostic. We are famous for saying "I don't know" to the big questions. The origin of the universe, the existence of God, what happens after you die, etc.

We're a little disturbed by the level of certainty that both the Christians and athesists have in their beliefs. The athesists view us as "fence sitters", and tend to sneer at us. Whereas the Christians tend to view us as a potential Christian because we're technically undecided. The interactions can be a little awkward at times, but they're generally more friendly than the atheists, I think.

Sometimes I simplify it and just say I believe agnostics are descended from Hercules. :funlaugh2
Hi @Riven
I am coming in late here, but went to the end to see where the discussion had progressed to, then wanted to address your first post and one of your issues with believing the Bible.

Imagine if you will, being God, and writing a book revealing truth over many generations here a little there a little. Imagine that you as God could create whatever you want to demonstrate an innumerable amount of facts by hands-on circumstances, examples, miracles, and real-to-life stories and history that served every little detail of truth. Imagine you could snap your fingers and make it so.

Imagine you made it so everyone is born into your little creation without a clue, except what they see, hear, read, and experience...and that the purpose of all you have created was to separate good from evil by having everyone choose which they prefer--forever.

That's it--that's what God has done!

I sometimes listen to rain videos. The one you posted is especially nice.

Btw our heat wave just broke and the temperatures are now in the mid 80s. A little cooler in the evenings. There's a hurricane forming off of Mexico so we still have some humidity.
