I figure that if someone is regularly attending church, attentively listening to the lessons, growing in faith and practice displaying the fruits of the Spirit and trusting in God for his salvation, then he has been born again.
I don't.
I believe what Scripture says.
A confession of the thoughts of the heart, determines the point of one becoming born again.
The trick however is determining at what stage he becomes this "new creature".
Again, I do not find any trickiness.
Hear, Learn, Believe, and CONFESS or NOT.
For me personally, it was several weeks before going to church, (discounting two appearances at the local Catholic church which was my original identity since spurned) when I knew I was born again, although I had no idea of that specific terminology nor any understanding of the concept behind it.
Have never heard a scriptural reference of the Catholic Church being a persons ORIGINAL IDENTITY.
I am quite confident, it is the SEED of a natural man that reproduces a persons ORIGINAL Identity......and the SEED of God that REBIRTHS a man from his ORIGINAL Identity to his SPIRITUAL Identity.
But I knew I was a different person when I awake one morning after inviting Christ into my life the night before.
I would hope you would have LEARNED, that INVITE was the moment of your becoming BORN AGAIN.
In fact, everything was different.
Great.
Everyone is different I guess, and I would be loathe to say anyone claiming to be a Christian is or isn't born again.
Why? Scripture doesn't teach to BECOME a Christian, but rather to BECOME "Converted".
From the first Scriptural mention of men calling other men Christians, was men who were NOT following Jesus' teachings, calling men WHO WERE following Jesus' Teachings and WERE calling Jesus the Christ...were Being called CHRISTIANS, by the men NOT following Jesus' teachings or calling Jesus the Christ.
I don't see any Scriptures of the Disciples or the Apostles calling THEMSELVES, "Christians", OR calling OTHER men "Christians".
IOW...the term Christian, DOES not Scripturally DEFINE a born again man.
A born again man IS expressly defined in Scripture as a man WHO has received the SEED of God.
They may be slow growers, but God has indeed given them His Spirit.
I disagree.
You mentioned...
regularly attending church,
attentively listening to the lessons,
growing in faith
practice displaying the fruits of the Spirit trusting in God for his salvation,
Then you say...
then he has been born again
You make NO mention of the individual Confessing his belief or calling on the Lord to RECEIVE the Lords OFFERING.
Salvation is an OFFERING of a Gift.
Quickening (born again) is an OFFERING of a Gift.
When you are OFFERED a GIFT....don't you believe you have to ACCEPT the Gift, before you possess it?
Learning ABOUT the Gift, is one thing.
Practicing HOW to use the Gift, is one thing.
Notifying the Lord, one is WILLING to ACCEPT His Gift is another thing.
If a person is learing, practicing, and NEVER AGREES to ACCEPT the GIFT....
You are basically saying....the OFFERED GIFT IS FORCED on them, without them ever having AGREED to Accept His Gift....which is not what Scripture teaches.
All we really have to go on in ascertaining anyone's status, is their confession of faith and their testimony.
Well NO KIDDING! However you completely
OMITTED those Details, when saying HOW YOU FIGURE and DECLARE to KNOW, "IF" an other is BORN AGAIN.
And that was MY POINT.
You may call other people Christians,
And You may believe other people are Born Again.
However UNTIL the individual DECLARES they have been Converted IN Christ, or Declares they have Accepted Christ's Gift of Salvation or Declares they have INvited Christ into their life or Declares they are Born Again....etc.
It is just a guess.
And further, MANY men DECLARE such things, WITHOUT KNOWING what those things MEAN, or WHY they are given a man....
and then Later claim....oh....uh, changed my MIND....and am no longer that.
Well the fact is....they NEVER WERE THAT!
A man can Change his MIND all day long...
It is NEVER with the thoughts of a mans MIND, that a man Receives the Seed of God, to become born again.
Glory to God,
Taken
