Welcome to Christian Forums, a Christian Forum that recognizes that all Christians are a work in progress.
You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.
We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!
Eating black eyed peas is not frowned upon by God so stop stating it without the disclaimer of "if done in a superstitious belief to bring good luck for the next year".
If you really believe this then you are terribly bound by superstition. Christians are not bound by such. We are not bound by the Law of Moses nor by superstitious beliefs.
So if FOOD is used as a charm, somthing that is to bring 'good luck', then we are NOT to participate!

No, not because of what the Old Testament says.So I see you DO know and understand what it is I have been saying!
Now if you know and understand this, which is what your statement suggest, then you also realize there are other laws (other than just the 10) that God commands in the OT we are yet to obey!
So then, are you saying it is sin or not? Yes I get it, more dietary stuff. Are you really just not getting it or what?
I do NOT believe that eating certain foods will bring good luck or ANY type of superstitions! Christians should not engage in such activities. The only one they are to depend upon for ALL of their blessing is God!
But yet there are some 'christians' that will cook and eat certain foods on New Years day, hoping, by doing so, good luck will come their way!
Thus, the purpose of this lesson.
So then, are you saying it is sin or not? Yes I get it, more dietary stuff.
So to answer your question according to God's holy word, Yes! It is a sin.
You haven't yet shown us any dietary restrictions in the NT. Did you miss my question, which Covenant are you under? Christians are under the New, not the Law of Moses. So to answer your question according to God's holy word, Yes! It is a sin.

No, it's not. Placing faith in something other than God (idolatry) is a sin.

This is the covenant I am under....
"For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:"
"This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;"
So tell us.
Now a question for a question;
What does God's word say was at fault?
And this is the Covenant Christians are under:
[/color][/size]1 Timothy 4:1-5 (NKJV)
[sup]1 [/sup]Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, [sup]2 [/sup]speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, [sup]3 [/sup]forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. [sup]4 [/sup]For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; [sup]5 [/sup]for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
So tell us.
Good grief!
Some threads need a decent burial but they never get it.How on earth did they create 34 posts out of this subject.
