I don't know what it is, but I can't stand the idea of being 'beaten' by "Evolution" - Creation is *too beautiful* to be sidelined by angry naysayers!

For the most part I agree with you, but I do not think that the Holy Spirit taught these people that the earth was flat, set on a foundation, and did not move and the moon and sun revolved around the earth. They were writing what they understood to be true.

Its perspective! The Earth is flat when you stand on it, the same way the Sun is flat, when you stand on the Sun!

Sometimes getting other people to believe, seems faster than challenging your own beliefs the same way over and over again!

But I take your point, the more time we spend taking responsibility for our relationship to God, the less the deception of the world can have an influence on us.

There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed by the Creator into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone cycling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being evolved.

As a young man, he attributed the origin of life to God. Darwin even commented in The Voyage of the Beagle, how the ship's officers kidded him about his orthodox Anglican views.

That's called micro evolution, it's the expression of the variation within a species but it does have limits.

Funny thing is, no one can point to a limit. There isn't a species on Earth that has evolved as far as it can go, with no additional genes to be added.

One of Galileo's experiments was with a telescope watching a ship come up over the horizon. He could see the top of the masts first and then gradually the ship.
