Do you love your husband because he made promises, or do you love him unconditionally? Does Jesus deserve anything less?
No intelligent woman marries a man whom she knows will not take care of her. That doesn’t mean materially, but to care that her emotional and spiritual needs are met, if they are Christians. No one needs material riches as Jesus himself demonstrated by being born into a poor family. If God had wanted him to be wealthy he would have been born to a wealthy family.

The very fact that Jesus made the promises he did, shows how important they were and still are to his disciples…..it’s not about Jesus deserving less, but about his ability to fulfill his promises….which humans do not have the capacity to carry out….isn’t this why people change their governments so often?
God’s government will never fail. (Isa 55:11)

If Christianity is true, would you become a Christian?
Is "Christianity" a thing? Or is what the scriptures recommend... a person, or rather 2 persons, the Father and the Son?
"Christianity" brings different messages depending on who is where and doing what. You have the myriad of denominations holding different doctrines, all having conservative and liberal nuances, others being totally apolitical, and on the other extreme a religious tyrant who considers himself a king, while you have countless individuals everywhere who reject all organised church life and practise "what seems good in their own eyes". Following what the world sees as"Christianity" will find you a very disturbed confused mentally unstable individual...at best.
But receive Jesus, take on His character, be empowered by His Spirit, having His mind and expressing the fruit of the Spirit everywhere you go, thus knowing Him in Whom you believe, then life becomes meaningful, consistent, fearless, and rewarding.

My target audience doesn’t care. That’s what the OP is about. (See post #14.)

Why even ask the question?
Another approach a pastor spoke of was when travelling on a plane, and having 3 hours of a captive audience of one. Open with normal small talk. Hi. Popular flight today. Do you fly often? It seems I never stop. The times I spend on the ground with family are precious. Etc etc etc. then he takes out his Bible and reads. This sparks a deeper conversation, bringing an admittance, "I'm an atheist, I don't believe in God", of course with other people, the different responses. With the atheist however, the pastor asked, "describe the God you don't believe in".
The response is often a stereotypical description of a god that simply does not exist, bearing no relation whatsoever to the God of the Bible. The pastor then responds, "if God is really like that, then I'm an atheist also." Then he asks what kind of God would you like to believe in? Which is similar to your initial question, if Christianity were true.... The God people want to believe in, if they were honest, would closely resemble Jesus. But through misunderstanding and ignorance, they would reject what they believe to be the God of the old testament in favour of the new.

I don't feel that I can speak freely, even within the guidelines. This post was for me, but those who take the Lord's name in vain will shut me up. You're just going to close my account.

I made this wallpaper not too long ago and I still value it. Just so you know what you're dealing with. Do you understand what I'm saying? The person who made this wallpaper is fully expecting to be rejected here.

Yes, without all the needless pomp and window retail dressings and all of its religious overtones that satisfies the requirements of the world.

Just to be in Christ as a citizen of the Kingdom of God, today, and every living day!
Great answer!

People have a way of spoiling a good thing. I mean, there is only one continual ribbon of truth in all of recorded history of God interacting with people, as a witness to the greater truth of life...and most have turned it into a circus or cult-like club. I recommend seeking God alone, knowing that there are just too many coincidences for it all to actually be coincidence--and ask to be guided on the right path by the Source directly. Which He will gladly do. Then and only then, is it safe to enter into fellowship with the well meaning folks who generally do a poor job of representing God.

All the best to you!

I sense a lot of pain.

I could be wrong.

But do tell your story without blasphemy.

Being angry doesn't have to be blasphemy.

Thank you for your reply. Are you sure you know what blasphemy is?

Pain? Yes, physical, emotional, mental -- my only escape, my only help, my only teacher, my only joy, and my only hope is what you call the Holy Spirit.

Blasphemy is the rejection of the Holy Spirit. Have I blasphemed? Please tell me how.

Welcome (back) to the forum.

This post was for me ….

The moderators aren’t going to ban any member who is registered “Other Faith” for responding with a simple yes or no answer to the question asked in the OP.

… but those who take the Lord's name in vain will shut me up. You're just going to close my account.

You haven’t changed. You’ve left them with no choice in the past and you’re picking up where you left off the last time you were here. History will repeat itself.

You gave an answer on your question in your third sentence, I am not sure if you are right.

Struggling with your faith (Losing My Religion as you say) isn't necessarily a rejection of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus loves you -
Matt 11:28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matt 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Matt 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

That is precisely my point. Religion is just religion. The Holy Spirit is pure good - a wonderful, mind-bending surprise, bringing peace of a kind that makes you know that you never really experienced peace before. The Holy Spirit brings assurance of eternity with evidence. No faith required. Being in the presence of the Holy Spirit is the best experience a human can have, period. It's categorically different. Nothing can compare in any way. I would not trade this for the Universe, eternal life without the Spirit, or even to keep the rest of my threescore and ten. If you miss this, you missed everything. It is the most serious fail possible.

Its because Christianity is True, that we can become a CHRISTian.

If it was not true, then we couldn't.

Christianity is proven to be true, because Jesus rose from the dead, and was seen by over 500 people, including the remaining Apostles who all became Martyr's for Christ, except for John.

Hello and welcome. I agree with your point key point here, completely. Religion is just religious, impersonal and really a facade or a mask in its truest intent and meaning. It does not bring anyone happiness, true peace, and does not guarantee eternal life either.

I have not missed your outcry and voice here. You have something important to say, and I have listened.

I agree that the Holy Spirit of God does bring eternal life and you can live without any contrived faith in this precious Spirit, with a peace beyond our own imaginations and understanding, forever.

True Christianity and its true Body, is built on people like you, who have cut through and bypassed religion, and found this special gift of peace from God, that no man's work or words can ever bring, let alone sustain.

Have a Blessed day and go in this peace, that I also walk with, everyday, as you.

What is the Holy Spirit?
A man once asked "What is truth?", but I'll assume your question is not rhetorical. That leaves serious or evaluative. I'm going with serious. "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." Here's the most important thing. The Holy Spirit makes oneness with Jesus and the Father possible. There's a lot more, but isn't that enough? To draw near to one who is Pure Good?
