Have you ever seen a TV drama where there was a hard nosed Detective who always went with his gut, and was right a lot. He was being intuitive. He may not have 100% known all the facts or had all the evidence, he may have felt something. Over many years of being tested, and having trials, he may have grown to trust his instincts. In terms of growing Faith, given someone is going higher with God, he may have learned to talk to God, and perceive through God's Holy Spirit. Jesus perceived through his spirit. (Mark 2:8)

Jesus had a hard journey, and was tired some. He sat down at a well to relax. A Samaritan woman comes along looking for what. The Samaritan woman and Jesus talk. Through conversing, and looking at the woman, Jesus may have been perceiving or receiving things through his Holy Spirit. Over the course of conversation, Jesus reveals that she had five husbands. How did Jesus become aware? Like the detective, he may have had many trials, and grew to trust in what he was receiving. (John 4:16-19)

The Question: How may someone learn to perceiving through God's Holy Spirit as they are growing in Faith with God?

Heart and Soul
5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.. (Deuteronomy 6:5)

He answered, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" (Luke 10:27)

Song to Preface this: Heuy Lewis "Heart and Soul."

About a year ago I lived in walking distance from Duke University. Given someone was a Duke fan, or Duke Alumni, or had a lot of Duke Paraphernalia, they may have loved Duke University. How did they love Duke University? They loved Duke with their Soul or Identity. When Duke wins or has done well, they rejoice? They feel good? In their soul, they rejoice. That is where the soul is. Given anyone has been a sports fan at some point, and has identified as a fan of ___________ their soul rejoices when their team does well.

What is a soul? A soul is a person. In the Bible, given a King has fifty souls, he possibly has fifty servants or subjects. How do those subjects or servants identity themselves? Part of their identity may have been “A servant or subject of King Solomon” or “member of the Tribe of Judah.” They loved something with their Soul. Given someone loves or identifies with one Political Party of the other strongly in 2019, they may be loving something with their identity. Someone identifying with The Democrats, regardless of if they have believed in Jesus or not, may care more about what their friends think, and be prone to certain attitudes that lean towards ungodliness. Are their bad people on The Right? Yes. The State of Tennessee has been known to be Conservative. It is also the most politically corrupt state in the Union, and has accepted more liberal views on morality? There may have been ugly things going on behind closed doors in the State of Tennessee? What was the root of the problem? False teachers and false Prophets promoting sin and immorality, like “Sex Week” at the University of Tennessee, and societies general acceptance of it, in a “Whatever floats your boat” way.

There is a stripping process to growing in Faith. Someone growing in Faith should identify as a child of God, and work to build God’s Kingdom. Someone rejecting the world, and working to please God may end up hated. Faith is not easy.

Heart - God is love. (1 John 4:8) God's love is sacrificial. (John 15:13) Love is a two way street. Jesus bore his cross. Did you bear your cross and follow him? Heart could be taken to mean fighting for God. Someone with a lot of Heart could be said to not quit or give up. Heart could be tied to a man's "Fightiness." God's goal is The Kingdom of God. Have you been working to build the Kingdom of God? Do your plans and God's plans for you line up?

What is in a person's heart? Love of God or something else? God tests your heart.

Soul - Soul is intrinsic. Who are you, and what is your character? How do you identify yourself? Do you identify yourself as a child of God? Do you work to build God's Kingdom? Do you work to get to know God, and grow in Faith, and accept his Spirit, and build Godly Character in you? Your choices show your character.

Many people claim they have a Body, Soul, and Spirit. What is a Spirit?

Spirit - Spirits effect motivation. How are you motivated and toward what ends? The Bible tells you to test The Spirits. What Spirit is someone of?

Reason and Faith

What is Faith? Faith is a knowledgeable dependence. Who is God? What is God's character? How does God work in the world? How does someone lean on him?

The more Faith a man has the more God becomes his reason.

How does someone learn to lean on The Lord? Trials. A teacher in training at a University is taught how to teach. He may have knowledge of how to teach. He doesn't know how to apply that knowledge until he is tested?
Trials and Acts of Fortitude. (James 1:2-4)

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. (Psalms 1:1-2)

Man goes to Church. He is convinced of Christ. He accepts Jesus Christ. He goes through all the hoops a Pastor or Priest has him go through. He is baptized. (Assuming a more mainline Church.) Man is meek before God. God likes Glory. Man works for God's Glory.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; (Proverbs 3:5)

Man doesn't know. God knows. The Holy Ghost is a teacher and councilor. In time, man may receive Logos.

Important Elements a Man may Need Towards Perceiving:

  • An understanding of The Prophets. Someone reads the New Testament from an Old Testament Understanding.
  • Given someone is growing in Faith, they may be working on developing The Power of the Tongue. Article: "Power of the Tongue."
  • The Prophets do not contradict themselves. God spoke through men separated by time and space. In developing the Power of the Tongue, someone works not to say false things. Part of that may be perceiving.
  • A more correct view on whom Jesus is. God is not a Post Modern Mush God. Article: "Be Angry and Sin Not."
  • Someone may need to understand Thumos. Article: "Thumos and Holy Fire."
Why is Thumos important? Thumos is tied to reasoning. Someone growing in reason and faith may be someone who has been through some trials.

Less is more here. With these things, and an acceptance, someone may be set up for success.
