Mark 15:

37 But Jesus let out a loud cry and breathed His last.
Matthew 27:

50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice and yielded up his spirit.
Strong's Greek: 863. ἀφίημι (aphiémi) — 146 Occurrences

BDAG:
① to dismiss or release someone or someth. from a place or one’s presence
③ to move away, w. implication of causing a separation, leave, depart from

Jesus voluntarily dismissed/separated his spirit.

Luke 23:

46 Then Jesus called out in a loud voice, "Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit." And when He had said this, He breathed His last.
John 19:

30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished." And bowing His head, He yielded up His spirit.
It was his decision. Jesus separated his spirit from his body; he laid down his physical/bodily life by his own action. John 10:

18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father.

I find this Greek word very interesting. I often means to dismiss or pardon sins, but I haven't seen this usage.

For the record to those who know not, this is not the Holy Ghost Jesus surrendered to the FATHER, but His own spirit. And just after this only Jesus breathed His last breath on the cross.

Likewise those who are in Christ are a new creation, where they too have, 'body', 'soul' and 'spirit'.

Look where the Spirit went to, and look why the Spirit of Christ was separated from HIs body.

So we could then worship God the Spirit in Spirit and in truth.

This is the love of Christ to die for all who were dead, so we live for Him who died for us and rose again.

Then we no longer know any man after the flesh, and though we knew Christ after the flesh, now henceforth we know Him no more. ( after the flesh)

That is belief to BE IN CHRIST, of Him that newness for us, NEWNESS OF LIFE, ( RAISED UP FROM THE DEAD BY THE GLORY OF THE FATHER.) old things PASSED AWAY. ( we are buried with him by baptism into death.) we should also WALK IN. ( ALL THINGS ARE BECOME NEW.)

All things are new is to understand that ALL THINGS ARE OF GOD, who RECONCILED US TO HIMSELF BY JESUS CHRIST. ( we are made the righteousness of God IN HIM.)..

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
15 And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

1 Peter 3:22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him.

The conversation is in heaven where we look for the Lord Jesus. ( THE WORKING, WHERE HE IS ABLE EVEN, TO SUBDUE ALL THINGS UNTO HIMSELF)

Philippians 3:20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

How would you know how to worship God The Spirit in Spirit truth.

You don’t need to read a Bible to worship God in Spirit and truth....what do you need to worship God?

We look to the Spirit who indwells our heart, not to heaven, we communicate with God via His Spirit, why?

The carnal mind can’t communicate with God.

We need text, or the ones who follow Jesus Christ....

2 Corinthians 6:4 But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
5 In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
6 By pureness, by knowledge, by long suffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,
7 By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
8 By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;
9 As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;
10 As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
11 O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged.

2 Corinthians 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

What can we do without the Life which Jesus brought?
Without the Holy Spirit how can we have the power to do anything good..., God being the only one Good?
What can a dead person do?

Hello Amadeus,

Well, without the death and resurrection of Jesus, there would be NO way back to God, we also need to be reconciled back to God via His Spirit, we do nothing good and are incapable of doing good.

The Spirit who gave us life when Spirit gives birth to spirit, tis the Spirit who is the one doing all the good through us, ...without His Spirit we are none of His.

All Glory goes to God via His Spirit.

What can a dead person do?
Nothing, their spirit needs to be Born Again , then we are right before God, Alive in the Spirit...who Glorifies the Father, bringing the truth of His Living word Alive in our hearts/ spirit.

Being Born Again of imperishable seed is a mind blowing ( for me) Spiritual rebirth....Spirit gives birth to spirit...

Luke 6:32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.
6:32 καὶ εἰ ἀγαπᾶτε τοὺς ἀγαπῶντας ὑμᾶς ποία ὑμῖν χάρις ἐστίν καὶ γὰρ οἱ ἁμαρτωλοὶ τοὺς ἀγαπῶντας αὐτοὺς ἀγαπῶσιν

Nope , we need the Living word of God, to understand His written word...if we aren’t Born of the Living word, Spirit gives birth to spirit....then we are leading ourselves through His written word....which is void of Gods truth, for without the Spirit we are none of His...we must be Born Of The Spirit.
The living word of GOD is in the written word of GOD, where All Scripture = Holy Bible. (2Timothy3:16&17)

Jesus the Word of GOD said and is written, "It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing, the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." (John6:63)

'For the Word of GOD is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.'

Even before the disciples received the Holy Ghost, they were disciple by the living Word of GOD, Jesus, from the sermon on the mount. As a testament is written down, from the Gospel according to Matthew to the Revelation according to John.

Therefore according to John how are we teachable according to the written word? For it is written, 'These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye received of HIM abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as 'it'(?) hath taught you, ye shall abide in HIM(GOD). (1John2:26&27)

For the record, the Holy Ghost is referred to as, 'He' and not 'it'.

As when the disciples completed their discipleship with Jesus, therefore only after His departure they then received the Holy Ghost. Even in John ch. 3, verse 3, Jesus says about the matter of 'seeing' the Kingdom of GOD that one should be born again merely. But only in verse 5, Jesus says about the matter of 'entering' the Kingdom of GOD, then only one should be born of water and of the Holy Ghost.

We have also on the other hand and is written, 'Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? (Hebrews1:14)

The designation of the Holy Ghost in a believer, is as a 'Helper' or 'Comforter'. Who will further teach believers all things or lead believers into the full truth. And bring all things to their remembrance, whatsoever Jesus have said unto them in discipleship. (John14:26)

The living word of GOD is in the written word of GOD, where All Scripture = Holy Bible. (2Timothy3:16&17)

The Living word of God lives in our heart/ spirit.

We have been Born Again of imperishable seed/ the Living word of God...the written word backs up Gods Living word?

That’s why a Born Again doesn’t sin...which you don’t understand and reject Gods word saying that a Born Again doesn’t sin....you are confused regarding Gods “ Living “ word...you can’t know God without being Born Of The Spirit....supernatural/ spiritual rebirth...only God can testify that to our heart via His Spirit..

Knowledge of the Bible doesn’t save...only the Living Spirit Of God can save us from eternal damnation..once we are Born Again.
Jesus the Word of GOD said and is written, "It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing, the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." (John6:63)

'For the Word of GOD is living and active, sharper than any two edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

The Living word makes us Born Again not the written word, the written word of God backs up His Living word.

'

(1John2:26&27)

For the record, the Holy Ghost is referred to as, 'He' and not 'it'.

I know the Holy Spirit is a “ HE”...if I called him an it then it was a typo.
As when the disciples completed their discipleship with Jesus, therefore only after His departure they then received the Holy Ghost. Even in John ch. 3, verse 3, Jesus says about the matter of 'seeing' the Kingdom of GOD that one should be born again merely. You post a lot of scripture....anyone can do that..

The carnal mind doesn’t understand the things of the Spirit.

Praying that God helps you understand in the Spirit, not the human intellect...it takes time though to understand in the Spirit ,only the Spirit can open up your mind to understanding in the Spirit.

Providing we are Born Again that is....without the Spirit God doesn’t recognise us, we are none of His...

The living word of GOD is in the written word of GOD,
That makes no sense....you are confused, the Living word of God is what makes us Born Of The Spirit.....

We must know His Living Spirit, we are birthed in the Living Spirit, Spirit gives birth to spirit.....our spirit is Born Again.....intellectual knowledge of the Bible is meaningless.....you need the Spirit to lead you through Scripture, without Him we are void of Gods truth.....the Spirit brings us to Gods truth, we don’t bring ourselves to Gods Spiritual knowledge...how would we know how to understand His written word?

Praying that you come to that spiritual understanding, are you a new babe?....it’s taken many years for the Spirit to open my mind to that of Spiritual matters....I’ve had to let go of my ego and pride, he taught me nothing all the time I held onto self.....we won’t grow if we hold onto self, hope that makes sense...

Isaiah 11:2The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.

Graphic of Isaiah 11:2 And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and strength, The spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.

The Spirit in the Christian
