Some people like to filibuster vigilantly.
Yes.

Thread cleaned up. We're open to suggestions, but we purposefully chose to allow slightly longer posts than usual to open up extended discussions.

I think most of the problem comes from copy and paste replies where people would rather copy their personal material or favorite website rather than articulate their own defense in a thread. We experimented with doing away with copy & paste posts found on other websites in the past, but obviously that takes up a lot of Moderator power and actually took out some legitimate discussions as well. So we scrapped that approach.

My usual advice is to ignore those posts and not engage them or engage the points sparingly.

I whole heartedly agree here Hammer. It's one thing to post a link, but another thing to copy & paste most of it INTO a post.
We should be able to actually voice our thought processes, but inevitably with some, they resort to equivocation which quickly turns into onerous and verbose posts.
