When God does not reveal something specific to us is it because he forgot, feels we should not know or because he wants a modern prophet to reveal it to you?

I really like Dave Hunt's videos & books. The new age spirituality is very deceptively demonic but people have no idea when they get lead into it.

Yes--there's a book called, The Beautiful Side of Evil by Johanna Michaelsen that tells her story of having been a part of the New Age mysticism and eventually occultism. It was published about ten years ago, I think. Some who have read it say that they thought it "terrifying". Others have said that, while they believe her reported experiences (especially the gruesome tales of "psychic surgery" practiced with an occult "psychic surgeon" in Mexico) they are not very interested in her Christian take on what she experienced.

She is good.

Have not heard anything from her in years.

Revelation 19:10 says that the "essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus." The very early churches apparently got into trouble right from the beginning with mystics who claimed to be prophets. In Revelation 2, Jesus scolds the church at Thyatira for paying attention to some wicked woman who called herself a prophetess. Just as the OT is opposed to mysticism, so is the NT in a much more subtle way. While we are to pay attention to the Holy Spirit, we must not engage in the same type of conjecture as the mystics do. They think that "because of their many words" they will be more effective in reaching out for God--some even go so far as to say we will become "gods".

The Judeo-Christian faith is one in which God reaches down to us rather than a mystical reaching up to Him. Thus, often the most powerful testimonies come from those who were seized by God rather than them seeking Him. When the Father reached out to take a people from the Gentiles, He frankly says that they were not seeking Him. (Romans 10:20)

Another negative aspect to mysticism is the Apostle Paul's observation that those who "suppress the truth with their wickedness" (Romans 1:18) "knew God but refused to worship Him as God or even give Him thanks" and then "began to think up foolish ideas about what He is like"(verse 21).

That ties in with the old saying that the biggest lies begin with a grain of truth.
