Yes, God is said to be a “consuming fire” (Heb 12:29) ....why?...because fire consumes and destroys whatever is set alight.Jane,
God is a consuming fire anyway.
It is actually about defectors from the faith, the easily misled and willfully ignorant.....as well as the incorrigibly wicked who will be on the receiving end of Jehovah’s anger. He has no need of those people nor does he want them to spoil the marvellous future that he has in store for the righteous, who do care about their beliefs and conduct.....they don’t have to be perfect, but they do need to be obedient to the teachings of the Christ. Those found not obedient, will regret their failure to heed the warning that Jesus’ disciples are giving throughout the earth in these “last days”. (2 Tim 3:1-5)I guess Gehenna symbolic with its fire and how all garbage is burnt up when we come to Yahweh.
That’s the whole point....by choosing the truth over falsehood, or falsehood over truth, we are showing Yahweh what is in our hearts. He wants obedience from a willing heart, not a fear inspired control with hell at the end of it...he is a God of love who does not tolerate hypocrisy or lies. We will soon see who the culprits are....who is saved....and who is not.Beats me on whatever he wants.
Ask Jesus. He created it.where is it you keep the hell fire your so proud of
I have just looked at 26 different English translations of the bible, and not a single one translates it as "the Word is godly," or as "the Word is a god." If the Word were merely godly, how could all things have been made through Him? If the Word was a god, then He must have been a false god, because many times in the bible we read that there is one God. The only bible version I have heard of that translates John 1:1 as saying "and the Word was a god" is the New World Translation of the Jehovah's Witnesses.now lets add a perfect contradiction
it could be understood/corrected to, that the Word is godly or even A god
Yes indeed!Yet John opens his gospel saying:
“1 ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” (Joh 1:1-3 NKJV)
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (Joh 1:14 NKJV)
The Word was with God, the Word is the One through Whom all things were made, and the Word became flesh, and the disciles beheld His glory.
JW's love twisting the Hell out of nearly every verse in the Bible to change the clear meaning.I have just looked at 26 different English translations of the bible, and not a single one translates at as "the Word is godly," or as "the Word is a god." If the Word were merely godly, how could all things have been made through Him? The only bible version I have heard of that translates John 1:1 as saying "and the Word was a god" is the New World Translation of the Jehovah's Witnesses.
"Is there anything in the Bible that you believe is God's written Word?"I just ignore you. I'm abnormal. Good-bye I'm having chicken fingers tonight.
The problem is in the way the word “theos”(god) is translated in most Bibles.I have just looked at 26 different English translations of the bible, and not a single one translates at as "the Word is godly," or as "the Word is a god." Another vicious attack on the Christian Bible! The problem is in the way the word “theos”(god) is translated in most Bibles.
In Greek, the primary definition of “theos“, from Strongs Concordance is…
So, when one is speaking about “a god” or a “divine” person, it’s the same word, but there is a difference when speaking about Yahweh as a deity, and Jesus or an angel being described as “divine”.
- “a god or goddess, a general name of deities or divinities.”…..
In Greek, John 1:1 doesn’t really say what is commonly translated….into English.
The Mounce Greek to English Interlinear shows that a very small word, makes a very big difference.
“In en the beginning archē was eimi the ho Word logos, and kai the ho Word logos was eimi with pros ·ho God theos, and kai the ho Word logos was eimi God theos.”
Since the “one God” of the Jews was at that time nameless, the only way to identify him in Scripture was with the use of the definite article “ho” seen clearly in the Greek text there.
Calling Yahweh “THE God” singled him out as the only God worshipped by the Jews, as opposed to the multitude of Greek gods that were worshipped.
“ho logos”, as you can see is “the Word”, identifying Jesus by one of his many names or titles.
”ho logos” (Jesus) was “with ho theos” (Yahweh)…but “ho logos“ (Jesus) was “theos”, (god) not ”ho theos”. (Yahweh)
Read correctly in translation it should read as the NWT translates it.
“In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God (Yahweh) and the Word was divine”….(or a “god-like one”)
John 10:31-36 read from the Mounce Interlinear, also differentiates “ho theos” from “theos”…..
Only Yahweh is referred to as “ho theos”. In most English translations that very small word is ignored….but it identifies Yahweh as “the God” of the Jews. It’s there for all to see….and there is no reason to ignore it, except for one doctrine.
But that doesn't answer the fact that there is only one God. How can the Word Who came in the flesh be "a god", different to the one true God? How can the Word be "a god," as you claim, without being a false god, like Baal? The problem is in the way the word “theos”(god) is translated in most Bibles.

Well said!!! I've been saying that for years! It's obvious. Just another JW attack on our Saviour Jesus. But that doesn't answer the fact that there is only one God. How can the Word Who came in the flesh be "a god", different to the one true God? How can the Word be "a god," as you claim, without being a false god, like Baal?
it should be understood that there is only ONE TRUE GOD. after all there are many that are called/referred to as a god. some of them mentioned in the bible. Jesus prayed to his God, thanking his God , instructed others how to pray to his God.I have just looked at 26 different English translations of the bible, and not a single one translates at as "the Word is godly," or as "the Word is a god." No we don't have one God telling another God anything. God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God in three "persons." Also, it is strange that you call yourself a Christian, yet you talk of" the silly twisted logic employed by Christendom." Lastly, you still haven't answered my question, that if, as you claim, the Word, Who is Jesus Christ, is "a god", and there is only one true God, what sort of god are you saying the Word is?it should be understood that there is only ONE TRUE GOD. after all there are many that are called/referred to as a god. some of them mentioned in the bible. Jesus prayed to his God, thanking his God , instructed others how to pray to his God.
Luke 4:8 In reply Jesus said to him: “It is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.” according to the silly twisted logic employed by Christendom you have one god telling another god to recognize and worship the one true God.
why it is you's people reason all that crap out is beyond all comprehension! which of you is now going to say satan was never referred to as a god in the bible ?
you make your god to be Jesus ?? satan is called a god . then in Matthew 4:10 ''Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written: ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’” in that one verse 3 gods are mentioned .No we don't have one God telling another God anything. God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God in three "persons." Also, it is strange that you call yourself a Christian, yet you talk of" the silly twisted logic employed by Christendom." I just checked 31 English Bibles and NONE of them say Jehovah.Luke 4:8 In reply Jesus said to him: “It is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.” according to the silly twisted logic employed by Christendom you have one god telling another god to recognize and worship the one true God.

try Psalms 83:18 kjvJesus is God.
Christianity Board Statement of Faith:
"We believe that God is the Creator, Sustainer, and Ruler of the universe. We attest that God has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God."
I just checked 31 English Bibles and NONE of them say Jehovah.
Do you agree with Aunty that the Christianity Board Statement of Faith is Satanic?try Psalms 83:18 kjv
Any moron can read the Bible Jack....it takes a Bible student to understand what it’s saying.....
