But you must do this of your own power and it’s your work not Gods
Of course it is a work of God.

"Faith cometh by hearing; and hearing by the word of the Lord" (Romans 10:17)...

See Isaiah 55:10-11. God's word will not return void. He gives faith to whom He chooses. The preaching of the gospel is mixed with faith in those who hear it and are saved (Hebrews 4:1-2).

That strikes me as being a mere argument against the biblical concept that the person with a nominal, shallow, or lukewarm faith can fall away (Luke 8:13) and thus lose his salvation and be cut off (Romans 11:20-22).

But arguments will be dealt with by the weapons of our warfare which are not carnal but mighty in God for the pulling down of strongholds.
Lol, the stronghold in the context of the scripture you’ve quoted, is exactly what this whole argument is about.

If this is true, then we can’t lose salvation because we would never lose faith. Because our faith is not from us but from God
Faith is only knowing something is true. Faith is just the knowledge that the gospel is true. From there you have to put your trust in what faith has convinced you is true.

Mt. Sinai represents the old covenant of law. Everybody knows that can't save you.
It goes deeper than this

I asked what happened, and what it should teach us.

what did God earn would happen to any person or animal who touched the mountain, and what did the people react to God on the mountain?

The funny thing is you believe it’s you that stands and walks.

No; I have always taught that if we are living the sanctified life, it is Christ who is doing the living in us and through us (Galatians 2:20).

Also, you didn't answer the question.

Is it self-effort to walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit?
