It is very important that we feel secure in our salvation.
Amen! Fear and bondage to insecurity is no way to live the Christian life and prior to my conversion while still attending a church that taught a false gospel, I had absolutely no assurance of salvation and was miserable! It was not until after I received Jesus Christ through faith that I found eternal security in Jesus Christ. (1 John 5:11-13) Praise God!

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he... - Proverbs 23:7

Believing in your heart that you are secure in your salvation is huge.

The gay peoples think they can be gay and be Christian as well and many are very confident they are saved.

Care to post any stipulations to Proverbs 23:7 found in God's Word for the gay peoples since this has become a thing?

The OSAS peoples such as Charles Stanley claim as long as a gay person believes in Jesus they are saved and can keep living the gay lifestyle and it's all good which is false grace of course.

Go to a church these days and try a OSAS discussion. You will likely get a strange look and a... What??? Even in Baptist churches these days such a discussion will give people the feeling that you are a troublemaker.

Yes, they will give you the left foot of fellowship right out the door which is what happened to me at the last church I had attended for several years as they started following false grace teachers such as Joseph Prince, Andrew Womac, Charles Stanley among others.

Guys, please try to stay on topic, which is the idea that the early Church recognized OSAS as a heresy, and fought to debunk OSAS as a regular part of their fighting against the Gnostic heresy, because OSAS was only believed on by Gnostics.

You're turning tangentials into the main topic.
Please don't do that; please stay on topic.
Actually Gnostics believed in a licentious gospel

The jews taught a legalistic look at me gospel

while the true church believed in the eternal security found only in Christ based on true repentance and faith in him

so the early church not only believed eternal life was eterrnal.. it was their very foundation to fight both false teachings

OSAS- I was baptized three times in my teenage years. As a teenager my main thought was that it was fun. I do not regret it either.

1. GARBC Baptist - In a Baptistry
2. Freewill Baptist - In a River
3. Pentecostal Holiness - In a River

There are issues of the foundations of salvation in all the churches I have attended. If I were to "threaten" someones salvation...

OSAS - Raise eyebrows.... "Are you trying to threaten my salvation?"
Non OSAS - Probably wouldn't see them again

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he... - Proverbs 23:7

Believing in your heart that you are secure in your salvation is huge.
If the foundations of salvation are set you won't hear of that individual backsliding back into the world. Thus the saying....

The Baptist don't believe in backsliding
The Methodist practice it

With the Methodist type revivals it seems like the whole country is getting saved. And then... What happened?
I was baptized a year after I was born again in a GARBC baptist church

I agree with OSAS.. OSAS threatens people. That's why the jews cruficied Christ He taught that all their good deeds. all their hard work. all their sacrifice in keeping the law would not help them spend 1 second in heaven

amen.. OSAS was not even a term in Jesus day

people are fighting a term, not the word of God.

Who wants to talk about Gnostics? Gnostics were kooks, that didn't believe Jesus was deity, how could they produce a thought of salvation through Jesus, it didn't happen. I'm secure in my Salvation and never ran into a Gnostic that admitted it. I preach OSAS, it is here and now. If you are looking for someone with the same thought as you, good luck. Let go and let God do His sanctifying work in you. .
I would rather talk about the gospel. for it is the power of salvation for everyone who places their faith in it.

It is very important that we feel secure in our salvation.
I am reminded of this biblical truth

1 John 5: 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

. 11 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.

our faith is dependent on the knowledge we are secure in christ.

remove the security, your faith will crumble and all

If I had a special revelation that this is the Laodicean church age and everyone needs to seek to become more secure in their salvation... Does not make me a Gnostic. Just because someone is different does not make them a Gnostic

2 Peter 1:20
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

the testimony of Jesus (God's Word) is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10)

What God says in His Word is available to all within the Body of Christ, so if any revelation you get is of the Lord then it's available and known to the rest of God's people.
