My first thought after seeing all that was to wonder why the mere inclusion of gay characters in a short film triggered this level of response from you, especially after you'd previously agreed that that sort of thing should remain legal. You might want to engage in some self-reflection and think on it a bit.

Oh, and I'd be careful about citing the Bible as a source of "objective morals", unless you want to argue that genocide, taking young girls as the spoils of war, having rape victims marry rapists, etc. are all "objectively moral".

Thre main difference is that our morals are proven to be successful over thousands of years all over the world.
When sexual moral are deviated from we don't see success

How are the two different?

Marrying of two different races, religions, cultures is one thing...that was still a marriage between a male and female.
Homosexual Same sex Unions are Not Marriages.

How exactly do they think this works? Do they think that otherwise straight kids will see LGBTQ characters in movies and suddenly decide to be gay?

Anytime the media is trying to train a culture to accept sexual perversion as "normal", Christians should push back.

Since those are your Christian beliefs, you should live by them. But the US is not a Christian theocracy, so no one else is obligated to live according to your Christian beliefs.
The belief that marriage is only between a man and a woman is a law of God and everyone, not just Christians, is subject to this law. The US is not a theocracy but it exists in a universe that was created by God and is bound by his laws.

Its always interesting to discuss the topic of Homosexual Sexuality on a "Christian" forum, as you soon discover exactly who is trained by the secular media, vs.... who is trained exactly by the New Testament, regarding the topic of gay sex...
All of us should keep in mind that its the continuing same gender sexuality sexual lifestyle that defines a person as 'gay" or "homosexual".
Its the same gender sex life they practice as a LIFESTYLE, that defines them as "gay" and 'homosexual"
So, when a believer is in opposition to "gay", they are not in opposition to the person, per say,... but are in opposition to the pervertedly immoral sexuality that is defined as such in Romans Chapter 1, by Paul. .... as well as it being defined by an area in Israel that i've seen, where God himself pronounced upon the immoral homosexual sexual lifestyle a very harsh example of His perspective of this perverse sexual lifestyle.

The hatred towards LGBTQs in this thread is both shocking and disappointing to me. I knew some Christians have negative views towards them, but the outright hatred expressed here has taken me aback a bit.

I shared some of the posts here with a gay friend of mine and she reminded me that I am on a Christian message board, so of course there are going to be some gay-hating Christians here. It's no different than the times I've been on atheist boards and found out there are some atheists who truly hate Christians. My gay friend also reminded me to consider this in a historical context, and how since the founding of this country there have always been some Christians who hate other groups of people. It was Christians who slaughtered Native Americans and intentionally infected them with disease. It was Christians who kidnapped Africans and made them slaves in America. It was Christians who founded the KKK and slaughtered blacks across the south. It was Christians who instituted and defended Jim Crow.

And with LGBTQs, it's been Christians who have killed them, used the threat of violence to keep them closeted, fought to keep them from being able to have jobs, fought to keep them from being able to get homes, fought to keep them from being able to marry the people they love, and still to this day fight to keep them from having basic civil rights.

Based on all that, my friend said to me....yes there are Christians who hate us, but given all that history, in some ways the feeling is mutual. But the good thing is, bigotry against LGBTQs is shrinking every year and the public increasingly supports LBGTQs' right to live freely and openly in society. One day the gay-hating Christians will be looked back on in the same way we now look back on the Christian segregationists.

Christians, like all other religious people, are protected from being discriminated against. Why would you deny LGBTQs a basic right that you enjoy?

Porn stars are restricted from their craft in many instances, we limit the use of certain words/sounds because they are offensive, and we do not scare our children by telling them mommy and daddy can't pay the bills (nor do we inform our children (or teens) about mom and dad's sexual behavior). The concept of protecting vulnerable children seems to be missed by you. The adolescent crisis over their identity is a very difficult time for many, younger children are even more vulnerable. Why would you support exposing children and adolescents to confusing material about sex?

BTW, I have no problem with LGBTQ people being in leading roles, just not playing an LGBTQ character. Same with non-LGBTQs; they should not play LGBTQ characters (unless the film directly calls for it, i.e., biography of an LGBTQ).

Secondly, you did not comment on the universal bigotry of all humans. Nor did you mention my comments about discrimination. How would you define "discrimination"? Do you recognize that discrimination is a normal cognitive process shared by all humans? It is confusing why modern humans do not clearly define what they mean by all these terms: bigotry, discrimination, racism, etc. The liberal movement holds itself up as quite self-righteous nowadays (something that many of us abhor about some Christians). Modern liberals focus on LGBTQ discrimination, but practically ignore more profound sources of bigotry. The elderly are significantly affected by hiring practices that are barely mentioned, prejudice in favor of beautiful people in Hollywood has gone on for decades with no outcry. There are thousands of forms of bigotry! The Liberals focus on a bias sampling of these many forms of bigotry. Therefore, the politically Left, who believe they adhere to superior morals, are committing the very sin they accuse others of committing - and they are unaware that they are committing this sin. Many modern Liberals are completely oblivious of when they are being prejudiced. Do you recognize that discrimination is based on perceived genetic similarities? Think of concentric circles: nuclear family, extended family, friendship groups (people perceived as being similar to us), ethnic groups...other nationalities, etc. The degree of discrimination increases the closer we get to the nuclear family. Humans are prejudice in favor of their family because of genetics. Humans are instinctually programmed to protect their own genetics and those perceived as sharing their genetics. Most humans will run into a burning building to save their own child, but few will run into that burning building to save another person's child. This is normal prejudice! It is discrimination based upon nothing but shared genetics. Someone may confuse terms by saying 'attraction to only blond women' is a 'preference'. Preferences are forms of discrimination; if someone "only" dates people of African descent, that is a form of prejudice. Why do you ignore so many different types of prejudice? Why do Liberals ignore their own prejudices while being so eager to point out the prejudices of others?

In our definitions, that you quite well made a list, we must look very closely how God fits into today’ definitions. Let’s see, He created all the races first and told them not to mix. He created the adamic people’s almost 2,000 years later, baad. He doesn’t want US to create any mixed anything. He likes things just like HE created them thank you. He certainly is setting a bad example for us. I really do think we should consider issue a blanket forgiveness of these “sins”, besides we are overly consumed with our own problems, as we search for new things to screw up.

Discrimination is genetic - it starts at home. You are a prejudice person (as am I), you favor people who share your genetics - everyone does (that is, you favor family members over non-family). That's discrimination, and we'll never make fair laws against it
It seems you have conflated discrimination with favoritism.

Why are you so willing to see prepubescent children be taught about being gay?
There was a time in my life where I felt the same way, however, the reality is that we live in a world where gay people exist, nearly 10 million in the USA alone. Reality should not something that should kids from knowing exists. We need to teach them critical thinking skills and confront them with this world's realities so they can be prepared to be productive and kind in the real world.

Our first filter is "does it involve one man and one woman".
Your first filter is "does it involve consenting adults"
A zoophiles first filter is "does it harm anyone"

What makes your opinion morally superior to the others?
How do u define what is moral and what is immoral?
This is deep, good stuff and needs to be a thread in and of itself.

Would you happen to have any data, proof, or a peer reviewed evidence based study to back this claim?
"This fact is particularly disturbing. Homosexuals comprise just two percent of the population, yet are responsible for 33% of all child sexual abuse. They offend against children at 16 times the rate of the normal population."
The Inescapable Link between Homosexuality and Pedophilia

This article also points out that the so-called *professionals* who do the research have an agenda -- to protect homosexuals and suggest that there is no difference. There are A LOT OF BOGUS STUDIES out there (just like the bogus studies which created the coronavirus bogus panic). The same applies to Climate Change. Scientists literally fudging the results so that people like smart-mouth Greta can be hailed as heroes.

Without a divine Creator, there is no morality; it is just what we believe is right or wrong for ourselves. If that Creator defines what is right (holy) and wrong (sinful), Homosexuality, or any other “sin” is determined by that Creator, and not by our opinions............................Morality is essentially a theological issue; it does not change with time. Spiritual answers about Christianity can be derived from Christian history, but the final authority is the Word of God.
Not so much. This is a topic that needs to be revisited. (Morality's ABC's: Acceptable Behaviors for Coexisting)

Our sexual morals are centered around family. These same morals have been proven to over thousands of years to be successful in Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Taoism and Buddhism. In fact there is no successful culture on earth that doesn't have family morals.
How are we defining success here? Is the production of more people the only objective? What about equality within a culture and peace with other cultures? Those things aren't things most of the religions mentioned above have born fruit in. If we just look at the experiences of women historically, I'm not sure how it can be determined that these systems of "morals" have been fair or just.

This article
Gives no numerical data to back many of its claims like: "As more and more homosexuals flooded seminaries and then went into the priesthood, a culture of homosexuality was fostered in the church with all its attendant pathologies."
The above is an example of an assertion without details or proof.

The article also said: "One pathology that LGBT activists will not acknowledge is the unmistakable connection between homosexuality and pedophilia." And the "proof" they provided was that The American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children stated flatly that “the vast majority of the offenders are male.” This attempts to make a correlation to homosexuality while ignoring the fact that 80% to 90% of all sexual abuse/violence is committed by men, period. So the the statement that men make up 50% of the population but are 5 to 9 times more likely to commit sexual crimes means what using this logic?

Bottom line, the article fails miserably (I'm not even sure it gives a good attempt) at backing the claims you made that I asked for evidence for.

OK. Then, define discrimination. Differentiate it logically from favoritism. Its all about where we chose to draw the lines.
Favoritism: Anyone with a sticker that shows they voted gets a complimentary drink at my restaurant on Super Tuesday
Discrimination: Anyone that did not vote will not be given service on Super Tuesday

Favoritism: Students maintaining a 4.0 GPA will receive reduced tuition
Discrimination: Irish students are not eligible for reduced tuition because they are of Irish decent

You've got to be kidding. Or are you trying to defend homosexual predators? Even Archbishop Vigano had some harsh things to say about the cover ups by Pope Francis and his bishops.

"Viganò is a conservative compared to the more reformist Pope Francis, and the letter contains a lengthy diatribe about homosexuals and liberals in the Catholic Church. In the past, Viganò has sided with a group of conservative cardinals known as "dubia" who have openly criticized and challenged Francis."

How are we defining success here? Is the production of more people the only objective?

Back when these ancient texts where written it would be fair to say that the expansion of their societies would of been number one priority

What about equality within a culture and peace with other cultures?

Peace with other cultures wouldn't have been one of their objectives back then.
If their land had harsh winters which saw many of their own people die from starvation, the cold, disease, etc then they would of justified it to themselves to take over any land that would help them sustain their society through the winter months.

As for equality it depends on your definition of it. If you expect half of our politicians and corporate leaders to be women but not other industries such as welding and construction than i disagree with equality. If you definition is for all people to have equal rights and opportunities then i would agree

If we just look at the experiences of women historically, I'm not sure how it can be determined that these systems of "morals" have been fair or just.

From what i see, men have always provided and protected for women.
So you will have to define what u mean by "the experiences of women historically".
