“Quench not the Spirit” (1 Thes. 5:19).

The Bible teaches that The Holy Spirit Indwells each believer in Christ:

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that
the Spirit of God Dwelleth in you?”
(1 Cor. 3:16).

The word “quench” means to extinguish, stifle, and suppress, as one would
extinguish a fire...

Paul prayed for the Ephesians that God would grant them “to be strengthened
with might by His Spirit in the inner man” (Eph. 3:16). God is our strength
(Psa. 18:2). The way we are strengthened by the Spirit in the inner man is by
nearness to God.

When we do not stifle the Spirit’s fire, and allow Him to draw us closer in our
relationship with our Savior, we will “be strengthened with might...in the inner
man.” May we “quench not the Spirit” by submitting our hearts to God, opening,
trusting, and rightly dividing the Word...

...“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the Word of Truth”
(2 Tim. 2:15).

By failing to rightly divide the Word, and attempting to live by promises made
to Israel under her prophetic program, we can quench the Spirit....

Hello

Yes it is true, that Quench not the Spirit is founded in the bible.

It is important to understand what the word quench means, and what is being said, in (1 Thes. 5:19): 3133 maraínō – properly, dry out (wither); (figuratively) fade away because depleted (consumed). 3313 /méros ("waste away because depleted") only occurs in Js 1:11.

The reason why Paul mentions this to the 1 Thessalonians was a means to tell them, to not quench the spirit by going on to feed the flesh more than that spirit. The spirit is something that is given and it is given by God himself, through the Lord Jesus Christ when a person believes. They have the Holy spirit of God dwelling with-in us, (1 Cor. 3:16) even the Spirit of Christ starts to live with-in the persons heart. The more a person feed their spirit, they do it by having prayer and relationship with the living God, they can also make the choice to read scriptures, and grow in knowledge of God, and his plan, and who he chose to choose, and what done was done by human beings who were chosen to be a great nation, that would bring forth the messiah who would be able to help, and save everyone by his single death on the cross.

God is good, and to quench the spirit is to dry out from doing things by the spirit, with hope, and faith in trusting God and having confidence that he is working out everything out for not only your own good but the good of others by and through His grand grace, and lovingkindness with mercies never ceasing (if memory recalls correctly).
