Question for Catholics: Do you classify all non-Catholics as Protestant?

I had a Catholic roomie in college. His mom had a special contempt for what she called “non-denominationals”. I guess non-denoms were considered worse than Protestants.

And yet, 40 some years later, I would still have to consider him and his mom a brother and sister in Christ. The lack of reciprocity leaves me with a tinge of sadness.

My beloved biological father was a hard-core Catholic and was the same as the people you described. Of course he didn't have the benefit that we've derived from the vast amounts of theological information available via the internet. Although with him it likely wouldn't have mattered. Why that is, is because people do not understand what the true meaning of the words are about.

I was a Protestant and grew up to hate the RCC !

Its idiocy to think Jesus intended for that authority to end with the death of John. If you want to argue that the roman catholic church is not the church that Jesus established thats fine but Jesus said he was building a church on Peter. Now if Jesus did establish a church being in that church would be pretty important id say. So where is that church? In a strip mall in some bible belt town. Only one denomination can show a line of connection to the church Jesus established. You may not like it and you may not agree but that doesnt mean its not there.

Ive asked protestants before to show evidence from the early church fathers that teaches anything they believe like the solas or osas. The usual response I get is, who cares what the early church fathers say. LMBO that tells me all i need to know

No one has suggested we follow the early church fathers. This is why i consider you duplicitous and thereby not worthy of any serious consideration. The early church fathers, as I have told you 100 times, are referred to only because they give us the most information about the development of Christianity in the post patristic era. The error of the Catholic Church (Roman or otherwise), is that Peter was not the means by which Christ would build His Church--"not by flesh and blood", but by the same means Peter received the knowledge that Jesus was the Christ--which was by our Father in heaven (spiritually).

Peter was blessed to be used to make that difference clear by example, which did include the keys to the kingdom--which was and is the Spirit of God--but he wasn't even firstfruits...just an apostle believer and a stand up guy...of which there are few, or many depending on how you look at it.

The catholic church roman or otherwise does NOT include any of the 20,000+ protestant denominations. Nothing that any of those denominations believes existed before the protestant reformation. Show me a first century reference to sola fide or sola scriptura.

Indeed, I am not arguing. But no, there were three named: Peter (flesh and blood), the Father (spirit), and Christ (Both flesh and spirit). Which Jesus clearly stated regarding the building of His Church, as being "not flesh and blood".
