I did cut out all wheat and am gluten free. Why did you cut out corn?
Because it's practically nothing but sugar. It is no coincidence that it is used to make high fructose CORN sugar. Alcohol is the most potent form of sugar there is, and corn liquor is about the best and most efficient way to make it.
I am switching to all coconut flour, almond flour. It really is time-consuming because you have to make everything from scratch.
All flour metabolizes into sugar, practically before it even gets to your stomach. Oat bran is about the only thing that takes longer to metabolize so a lot of people use that. Whenever processing occurs prior to the body doing it, all of the energy required to do that is never used by the body. When the body is requred to do the processing itself, it burns fat in order to do that. That's how the body was designed to work. Flour is like predigesting your food for you.
I bought a sugar-substitute but have not tried it yet. I was cooking with nothing but honey for awhile but it's a lot of work. I just bought a sugar substitute.
Most store bought honey isn't honey at all. It's pure sugar. It's best to get local honey that looks like it has a bunch of dirt and junk in it. Have you ever eaten honey comb? It's like candy, but way better. Sugar substitutes are actually sugar. Saccharin is the only thing I would recommend, and only for a limited time if one is going to make any serious attempt to leave an addictive lifestyle in their past. Saccharin isn't addictive, but it's terrible for the body. I used it for about a month. I got a half pint bottle, and used about a dozen drops to start with, and by the end of the month I was down to a couple when i finally stopped using it altogether.
We've been desenstitised to sugar, but when it is cut out of the diet, you begin to taste the sugar that is already in the food you're eating. Carrots taste like Kandy Korn to me. A slice of watermelon is more than enough for me to get whatever sugar I need. Three or more slices gives me a hangover. Just walking by a bakery with desserts can give me a headache. Even the smell of all that sugar is toxic. It smells like moonshine to me.
Why the strict diet over grapes and coffee? I enjoy both.
Grapes are sugar, and rasins are even a higher ratio because the water is gone. Coffee has caffeine which is addictive. I used to drink a pot of coffee every morning with sugar and cream while I chain smoked cigarettes as well. I don't miss any of it anymore. Once in a while, I have some herbal tea.
And I became a vegetarian many years ago. I love animals and don't eat anything with a face
Some people can get away with it. Others don't get enough protein from their diet without some meat. If people even had to dress out the meat they were eating, I suspect well over 70% would pass on eating meat altogether. It's too much work plucking, and gutting fowl, or dressing out a deer, cattle, etc.
Your diet worked if you lost that much weight! I lose when I go low-carb. Probiotics also regulate the weight I read.
It's not really a diet in the traditional sense of the term. We don't think of what we eat as a diet just because we don't eat bugs, or vultures, etc. I eat plenty when I have lots of things to do, and I'm never hungry. About six months ago, I was stranded out on the Gulf of Mexico, and had to ration food, I lost 35 lbs. in two weeks, but I was never hungry nor did I feel tired. I had no ill effects from not eating much of anything. The reason is because I've been off of the western processed diet for over five years.
Anyone who eats processed food, junk food, fast food would not survive a two week fast. The toxins released into their system as their fat stores are burned would poison them to death. Most people who don't eat right can't go more than a day without eating without getting quite sick.
That's very interesting about the arteries. I believe sugar ages the brain too.
Yep. It ages the body horribly. However, when sugar is eliminated from the diet, the body is quite resilient and recovers quite rapidly. I joined a Recovery From Food Addiction Group shortly after I realized I was addicted to "comfort food", and they were using the book by Kay Shepherd. It was like walking into a tent revival meeting because everyone in the place had been on all sorts of prescription medications, and now everyone was off of everything. I was on heart medication for congestive heart failer. Six months later, my cardiologist informed me, with a look of dumbfounded amazement; that I no longer had congestive heart failure. This was after being diagnosed with it over ten years earlier.
I don't have a doctor, and I canceled my health insurance over a year ago.
Have you ever read "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration?"
I've read a number of books on the subject, and i can tell you that I don't just look and feel younger since I eliminated all the junk i used to eat. I am younger. The body heals itself incredibly fast when it's given half a chance.
