Satan is the one that has introduced confusion to the word “ repentance”....people reject God’s Free Gift because they think that they gotta “ quit Sinning” to become a Christian and anybody with an ounce of sense knows that that is impossible...
Words actually have meanings—— it makes no difference how the Modern World wants to define the word “ Repent”...... it comes from the Greek Word “ metanoia” and it literally means “ mind change”
If repent always means to “ turn from sins” we got a problem because NOBODY Repents in the the Bible more than God does.....19 Times, give or take......and It is “ impossible for God to Sin!”
If the Bible says to “ repent from sins”—— do it! If the Bible says “ Repent from Sins in order to be Saved “....do “ that” too!
Unfortunately for many Confused would- be Christians , you won’t find the above in Scripture, Here is what you “ WILL” find——Simply BELIEVE the Gospel Of 1Cor15:1-4 ( Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead) and you will be Saved......
If you have “ changed your mind” from NOT believing the Gospel to a person that actually Believes it now—- you have undergone the only “ Repentance” required for Salvation.....God Bless...
When are you going to change your mind about whether quitting sin is not only required, but possible?

Yes, and there are about 50 things given in the Sermon on the Mount that tell us what are the specifics of what that love might look like.

.....and you don’t do a fraction of them.Had any lustful thoughts lately? If I punch you in the jaw, will you offer me the other one? Have you given everything you own to the poor? Ever get angry? You are no better than a murderer if you have.....
Why not just give it up.....Jesus was showing the hopelessness Of trying to justify one's Self before a Holy God By trying and failing to be “ good enough” .....in fact, let’s just cut to the chase —- Jesus said you had to be “ Perfect” to Merit Heaven.....How’s That working for you, Blind man? Swallow your Pride , admit you are a hopeless and helpless sinner and throw yourself onto the Mercy Of God.....Thats the ONLY thing that will save you.....pray to God that he give you a Contrite Heart because you aint got one and without “ that” —— you will NEVER be Saved.....

Most churches teach that Jesus died for your PAST sins and then you must keep the Law in order to “ stay” saved.....
It’s “ Jesus Saves—- But! Once you know “ that”....... you gotta make yourself Worthy by doing a good enough job of keeping the Commandments.....in the end you are Saved or Damned by your Law-Based Performance.....
I don't perceive this being the problem with the church these days. I just don't see the church trying to work itself to salvation. I see the opposite problem—dead faith. Which is really no faith.

This must be the only thing you know about the law.

It’s the only thing I “ NEED” to know.....it’s the difference between Heaven and Hell....

I just happen to know a LOT more than that in regard to the Law.....but as a Christian I am “ dead to the Law “..... it performed its task in my life....it lead me to Jesus....I’m done with it.....give it to somebody that needs it......like I used to need it.....
Why waste one's time with something that has “ No Power?” ......I found something better to guide my life.....it’s called the “Holy Spirit”......The Problem is, that In order to utilize that Spirit you must trust God and not yourself.... A Reality That is completely foreign to the “ stiff-Necked” .....that’s a shame .....

This must be the only thing you know about the law.

If the law causes you to sin more, you are not born again. Born again believers are no longer under the power of the law to make them sin, and no longer under the power of the law to condemn them for that sin.

For the unbeliever the law is like a marriage license that keeps them in marital submission to the desires of their flesh. But the believer's flesh has been crucified with Christ, so they are set free from the power of the law to hold them in marital bondage to the desires of the flesh. So if you are still being held in sin by the law that shows that your flesh has not been crucified with Christ. You are not born again.

Preach your gospel of 'I can sin all I want because I can't go to hell for any reason' and watch the sin rate sky rocket. Free Grace teaching says that grace is your license to sin, and many believe that lie. They're in for a rude awakening when Christ comes back. They do not believe that 'sinning all you want' shows you to not be a believer at all.

You just don’t get it, do you.....
I can sin all I “ want” .......God has changed my “Wants” .....I am a New Creation in Christ Jesus.....when God forgave ALL of my Sins, He also did something else.....he gave me a New Heart .....A New Heart That obeys out of Love—- NOT Fear or Obligation.
Yep, I do what I want . Every hour of every day . All I “ want” to do is please God .....my “ Wants” line up with His Wants....
Christianity is not about will- power....it’s about Transformation.....and Trust. You don’t Trust. That's why you never understand what I am talking about.....you just gotta Live it.....

A lot of people misunderstand "dead to the Law". What it means is that the keeping all the commandments in the Law of Moses cannot make you righteous before God. Sinners are justified by grace through faith and receive the imputed righteousness of Christ. But following that God expects practical righteousness and holiness, and that is governed by the Ten Commandments, which are embedded in the Law of Christ. So there is a Law under which Christians must operate. The Law of Christ or the Law of Love.

I don't know what to do with you, BB. You keep saying things that are contrary to what Paul taught....

11But you, O man of God, flee from these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. 12Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called... 1 Timothy 6:11-12
You're telling us to not waste our time doing this.

Not at all.....I am saying to do ALL of these things !! They are NEVER a “ waste of time”.... Just don’t do them to GET Saved and don’t do them to STAY Saved!!
One Believes the Gospel to get Saved.....these other great things to do are to be done AFTER Salvation....I have discovered that this “ to do” list comes naturally to me now that I have a New Heart—- how about you?

All of these are to be laws in Israel and have not been done away with (see Matthew 5:17-20).

There is also the possibility that they will be the law in every land during the millennial period.
Good luck with keeping the law. You will never do it, so never saved and Satan has made another conquest.

When are you going to change your mind about whether quitting sin is not only required, but possible?

Never.
If one could( and they can’t) abandon all sin of commission, what about all this pesky “ Sins Of Omission?” Have you spent your spare time helping out in soup kitchens or helping out the sick in the hospitals ? How many strangers have you invited into you home lately to feed and clothe? Yeah, I thought so....
When are you guys going to “ get it”.....God has us all “ trapped like rats”...... the ONLY way to get to Heaven is to humbly accept God’s Grace and trust In His Gospel to Save you.....
If you ever “ did” manage to rise above all sin, you are going to be very disappointed that you were barking up the wrong tree all along.....” By the deeds of the !aw, NO Flesh will be Justified !” You are going to find out too late that you should have been concentrating on Was Faith. Faith in Jesus .Faith in what He did for you....NOT what you did for Him.....
We are Saved by Faith and rewards in Heaven will be passed out in proportion to your Faith..... being obedient got you blessed in this life ....other than being Obedient to the Gospel , Obedience is a great thing, it pleases God more than Disobedience and as I said, it should pay off here on Earth ....obedience is a great thing.....it just does not get you saved, and it dies not keep you Saved......Faith in Christ and Faith in Him ALONE is what gets that accomplished....

I would venture to say that the “ Problems” with the Churches would be identical to the problems that small few point out in here....
...” Lucky” Repentance before you die.....no Willful Sins on your record .....and by proving yourself “ worthy “ of Heaven by doing a “ good enough” job of keeping the Law.....
90% of Churches make their little Additions to Paul’s Gospel Of Grace Plus Nothing like you and “ justbyfaithplusluckyrepentance” do , and therefore are “ Fallen from Grace” and don t even know how they got that way.....it could mean a beggarly Christian Walk Of it could mean Damnation. It depends on who you listen to....

Isa 28:22, Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord GOD of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.

Jer 15:17, I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation.

Jde 1:18, How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

(yes, I did a word search in blue letter bible on the word "mockers"...and posted only the last three that came up)

Nothing wrong with Mocking, when it is called for......Paul mocked those that demanded Circumcism as the way to be Saved .He used derision as he suggested why not just go out and “ cut off the whole thing!”..... there are other, even more graphic examples in Scripture .....
“ perverted” Gospels “ should” be mocked.....God Hates them....

Because, what you are not understanding is that I am preaching the law to you as a schoolmaster to lead you to Christ.

Been there.....done that....
What you are “ really” preaching are Additions to Paul’s Gospel Of Grace Plus Nothing , mainly “ Lucky” Repentance ......read Gal 1:8 and see for yourself that this makes you “ Accursed” .....

Christians have been delivered from the law. (Romans 7:1-6)

The law is good, perfect and holy but cannot help you be good, perfect or holy. (Romans 7:7-12)

The law which promises life only brings death through sin. (Romans 7:10)

The law is fading away. (2 Corinthians 3:11)

Anywhere the law is preached it produces a mind-hardening and a heart-hardening veil. (2 Corinthians 3:14-15)

Galatians
The law justifies nobody. (Galatians 2:16)

Christians are dead to the law. (Galatians 2:19)

The law frustrates grace. (Galatians 2:21)

To go back to the law after embracing faith is “stupid”. (Galatians 3:1)

The law curses all who practice it and fail to do it perfectly. (Galatians 3:10)

The law has nothing to do with faith. (Galatians 3:11-12)

The law was a curse that Christ redeemed us from. (Galatians 3:13)

The law functioned in God’s purpose as a temporary covenant from Moses till John the Baptist announced Christ. (Galatians 3:16 & 19, also see… Matthew 11:12-13, Luke 16:16)

If the law worked God would have used it to save us. (Galatians 3:21)

The law was our prison. (Galatians 3:23)

The law makes you a slave like Hagar. (Galatians 4:24)

Ephesians
Christ has abolished the law which was a wall of hostility (Ephesians 2:15)

Philippians
Paul considered everything the law gained him as “skybalon” which is Greek for “poop”. (Philippians 3:4-8)

1 Timothy
The law is only good if used in the right context. (1 Timothy 1:8) (see next verse for the context)

It was made for the unrighteous but not for the righteous. (1 Timothy 1:9-10)

Hebrews
The law is weak, useless and makes nothing perfect. (Hebrews 7:18-19)

God has found fault with it and created a better covenant, enacted on better promises. (Hebrews 8:7-8)

It is obsolete, growing old and ready to vanish. (Hebrews 8:13)

It is only a shadow of good things to come and will never make someone perfect. (Hebrews 10:1)

Your theology astounds me. You have just two or three posts previously declared that it is impossible to stop sinning. Previous to that you have admitted to sinning numerous times every day, even every hour. And here you are saying this is what you must want. I dunt know what it is you are promoting here, but it isn't the gospel.

.... Just don’t do them to GET Saved and don’t do them to STAY Saved!!
Those are not things you do to earn salvation. They are what you do when you have faith. When you don't have faith you go back to your sins. Paul said the faith that justifies all by itself is the faith that works. You have been defending the faith that doesn't save—dead faith—and claiming that saves too. Once again contradicting what the Bible actually says.

....no Willful Sins on your record ....
It's 'have no UNBELIEF on your record'. Get the argument right. Willful sins are the evidence of unbelief because "The one who practices sin is of the devil..." 1 John 3:8. But you say a person can practice sin and be saved at the same time. Once again, that's not what the Bible says.
