There are many scriptures pertaining to the subject of suffering for Christ.

Suffering for Christ is being obedient to keeping faith in the Gospel of Christ and everything that you had learned with in the context of the scriptures.

In the early years of Christianity many suffered having been killed for their faith in Jesus while Paul was is prison writing to the people at Rome.(Romans 8:36)

Paul wrote to the Corinthians, (1 Corinthians 1:7) that through suffering they would not lack in any spiritual gift as they had waited on the revealing of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul wrote also to the Corinthians, (1 Corinthians 7:23) You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men. Making sure they know they were bought with a price to fully trust in God and not be persuaded to become slaves of others but rather be a bond-servant towards God in love.

Paul wrote to people in Philippians, (Philippians 3:10) so that I may know him and the power of his resurrection and may share his suffering, becoming like him in his death. This is a very interesting verse in scripture for Paul the Apostle of Jesus is having a desire to know who Jesus is and to know the power of his resurrection. Even conforming to Jesus in his death. (Possible symbolizes for dying to self, and dying to the flesh or the sinful nature, to be guided more by the spirit even though the flesh pops up from time to time).

Paul wrote to encourage Timothy, (2 Timothy 2:12) if we endure; we shall also reign with him; if we deny him, he will also deny us.

The unknown writer of Hebrews (Hebrews 11:25), says in chapter 11, verse 25 choosing rather to share ill-treatment with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.

James writing to his audience; (James 5:10), stated As an example of suffering and patience, brothers, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. Referring his audience while they suffered under trials to be encouraged to read about the Old Testament prophets before then in how they had suffered and patiently endured.

The writer of Peter says in (1 Peter 2:20) for what credit is it, when you do wrong and are beaten for it and you taken it patiently? But if when you do right and suffer for it you take it patiently, you have Gods approval. This to me means that there is no credit when you do wrong and are caught. However in suffering for doing right and enduring their is approval from God.

The writer of Peter also goes on to say in (1 Peter 3:14) but even if you do suffer for righteousness sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of then, not be troubled.

The writer lastly states in (1 Peter 4:16) the letter of Peter yet if one suffers as a Christian; let him or her not be ashamed but under that name let him or her glorify God. Even if you suffer for doing right in following Christ, do not be ashamed and remember that God is with you.

The price for Everything is everything.
The price for Truth is all our fears.

Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.
Suffering is believing in a self-fabricated story of not coping with the pain. In truth, pain is simply a sensation of nerve injury. Without a story about it, it simply becomes a curious sensation. In other words, believing in anything that is not True leads to suffering.

Most humans live a fear-based world, full of stories that deny the truth. And on the long-term is full of suffering.
Our suffering for Christ are the death-throws of our ego-self, our old self, for the New Self.
Matthew 10:39 "Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.. "

Jesus Christ said: "I am the way, the truth, and the life..." John 14:6

While none of us want to suffer, or undergo persecution, or be hated by others, these can be by products of being a Christian. The early apostles were mostly even killed for their faith. Most Christians today live peaceful lives, but not in all countries, and we fully anticipate that as the scene of this world changes, that heavier persecutions will come. The soon to be outbreak of the greatest tribulation of all time will not be a pretty picture for anyone sir. In fact, if God doesn't send His forces to step in, none of us will survive. Mat 24:22

Farouk,

A healthy balance comes at taking in both parts. I believe Truth is helpful for an individual to really grow in knowledge. One of those is pertaining to suffering for Christ.

What is the Christian suffering for? To have love for God first and to have love for others, and obeying the commandments of Christ, which are light. (denying self, and walking in spirit).

The suffering is in the doing to long suffering relationship between you and God in trusting in Him and his promises by faith in the Gospel of Christ in where our hope is one day to leave this life, and go be in the new heavenly Jerusalem, after having an Christian filled experience life here on earth of sharing light, and love towards God and towards all and any persons.

What kind of life is it we live and given? A more abundant spiritual life by abiding in Christ? a more extravagant life in and through material blessings which can lead to more abundant life for some? What are your thoughts?

This is more scripture pertaining to the teaching of suffering for Christ.

Persecution

While Jesus was on the mountain with his disciples (Matthew 5:1-11). Jesus says in (Matthew 5:11) blessed are you when men cast insults at you, and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, on account of Him. Jesus makes it clear to his disciples that they would be persecuted, and it would come at the cost of bearing the name of Christ, in that day in age in which Christians were slaughtered and killed by Jew and Gentile.

Hatred

While Jesus was alone with his disciples in (Matthew 10:1-42). Jesus stated this to his disciples, in (Matthew 10:22), And you will be hated by all on my account of my name, but it is the one who ensures to the end who will be saved.

Loss of life

While Jesus was still with his disciples alone in (Matthew 10:1-42), he was in verse 39: He who has found his life shall lose it, he who has lost his life for my sake shall find it.

Renunciation of Worldly treasures

While traveling and after having met young man (Matthew 19:16-22). The disciples heard from Jesus it would be hard to enter the kingdom as a rich man, (Matthew 19:23). Said in (Matthew 19:28-30), verse 29 And everyone one that has forsaken houses, or brethren’s, or sisters, or fathers, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my names sake, shall receive and hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

Suffering

Luke records an incident in (Acts 9:10-16); Jesus had came upon to Ananias in a vision, and was sent to find a person named Saul. In (Acts 9:16) the Lord said For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my names sake.

Loss of reputation

Paul writes to the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 4:10) saying we are fools for Christ sake, but you are prudent in Christ; we are weak but you are strong; you are distinguished but we are without honor.

Paul writes to the Corinthians (2 Corinthians 4:5) saying For we preach not of ourselves, but Christ, Jesus our Lord; and ourselves your servant for Jesus’ sake.

Death

Paul writes again in (2 Corinthians 4:11) For we who live are constantly being delivered over from death for Jesus sake, that the life of Jesus also manifest in our mortal flesh.

Paul writing to the Corinthians (2 Corinthians 12:10) in chapter 12, verse 10 For the sake of Christ then, I am content with weakness, insults, hardships, persecution, and calamities, for when I am weak I am strong.

Paul writing to the church of the Philippians (Philippians 1:29) says For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him, but suffer for his sake.

Here are some more scripture pertaining to the subject matter:

Suffering for Christ - Reproached Suffered

While Jesus was talking to his disciples he mentioned (Luke 6:22) this to his disciples. Blessed are you when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate from you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of Mans sake.

Paul writing to encourage Timothy who was sent to Crete to help those out there who needed Christ. (1 Timothy 4:10) Paul states to Timothy For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the saviour of all men, specially those that believe.

The unknown writer of Hebrews writing to a Jewish audience records this in (Hebrews 10:33) Hebrews chapter 10, verse 33: Partly whilst you were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions: and partly, whilst you become companions of then that were so used.

The unknown writer of Hebrews also mentions to his Jewish audience, in (Hebrews 11:26) Hebrews chapter 11, verse 26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.

Another mention by the unknown writer of Hebrews comes from (Hebrews 13:13) Hebrews chapter 13, verse 13: He records Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp bearing his reproach.

Peter in his letter to his audience (1 Peter 4:14) records him saying If you are reproached for the name of Christ, happy are you for the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you; on their part he is evil, spoken of, but on your part glorified.

This is more scripture pertaining to subject matter; suffering for Christ.

The scriptures have to deal with saints being despised.

In the Old Testament record, (1 Samuel 17:42) you see how the Philistine looked down upon David in disdain.

In the Old Testament record, (2 Samuel 6:16) when the ark of the LORD had came into the city of David, Michael Sauls daughter looked through a window, and saw King David leaping and dancing before the LORD and she despised him in her heart.

In the Old Testament record, (Nehemiah 2:19) Nehemiah recorded “but when Sabal-lat the Horo-nite, and Toni-ah the servant, the ammonite: and Ge-shen the Arabian, heard it, laughed us today scorn, and despised us, and said what is this thing you do? Will you revel against the king?

In the Old Testament record, (Job 12:4) in the book of Job, it is recorded “I am as one mocked of his neighbor l, who calleth upon God, and he answe him: the Just upright man is laughed to scorn.

In the Old Testament record, (Psalm 119:141) I am small and despised: yet do not forget thy precepts.

Paul writes to the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 1:28) saying And base things of the world, and things which are despised, has God chosen, yes, and the things which are not, to being to nought the things that are.

Paul also records in his letter sent to the Corinthians. (1 Corinthians 4:13), Being defamed, we intreat. We are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.

Deciding to put this here for anyone pertaining to the definition of suffering, there are a few definitions actually.

Be encouraged to look these things up for yourself, and God bless you.

Strong's Concordance
paschó: to suffer, to be acted on
Original Word: πάσχω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: paschó
Phonetic Spelling: (pas'-kho)
Definition: to suffer, to be acted on
Usage: I am acted upon in a certain way, either good or bad; I experience ill treatment, suffer.
HELPS Word-studies
3958 pásxō (a primitive verb) – properly, to feel heavy emotion, especially suffering; affected, experiencing feeling (literally "sensible" = "sensed-experience"); "the feeling of the mind, emotion, passion" (J. Thayer).

3958/pásxō ("to experience feeling") relates to any part of us that feels strong emotion, passion, or suffering – especially "the capacityto feel suffering" (J. Thayer). The Lord has privileged us to have great capacity for feeling(passion, emotion, affections). Indeed, this is inherent because all people are created in the divine image. Note for example how Jesus in His perfect (sinless) humanity keenly felt(3958/pásxō, see Lk 17:25, 22:15, 24:26,46, etc.).

[3958/pásxō ("experiencing strong feeling") is the root of: 3804 /páthēma ("passions, sufferings"), 3805 /pathētós ("suffering") and 3806 /páthos ("strong feeling, passion").].
