Don't believe for a moment that pre-flood people were ignorant and unintelligent. They had only very recently been moulded by God's own hand and created in His image...they were not brainless apes looking to evolve...we have devolved...not evolved.Could he have completed all this with stone tools?
Your marine engineering degree would suggest that a rectangle be more sea-worthy in a catastrophic storm where water was coming from underneath and above? Our depictions of the Ark are fabricated and distorted by modern thinking. The absolutely ONLY reason for a boat or ship to have rounded, pointed ends is to guide it through the water under propulsion of some kind (like oars or sails). The pointed ends we insist upon depicting would only serve to waste possible space inside.
Noah was not a stone age savage. Indeed the civilizations of those times were extremely advanced.Could he have completed all this with stone tools?
It was raining and water was slowly rising. They were not in a Nor'easter.Your marine engineering degree would suggest that a rectangle be more sea-worthy in a catastrophic storm where water was coming from underneath and above?
"The fountains of the great deep were broken up" suggests to me that the entire topography of the planet underwent some major changes...when it was that the people were filled with violence, and the whole earth was corrupted, then with violence shall God judge it. Same as the plagues were judgements on the Egyptian gods, so the last plagues will be judgements on modern gods..."you shed blood, you shall drink blood". Justice. No way did the water rise peaceably like in a bath tub.It was raining and water was slowly rising. They were not in a Nor'easter.
Can you knap a Clovis spear head from a round piece of flint? I wasn’t implying ignorance or unintelligent by modern mans standards.Don't believe for a moment that pre-flood people were ignorant and unintelligent. They had only very recently been moulded by God's own hand and created in His image...they were not brainless apes looking to evolve...we have devolved...not evolved.

Be careful not to invest in the things of creation that which belongs to God. It is FAITH which we are told over and over and over and over and over and over (getting through yet?) in Scripture that saves - God deals to every man a measure and then man either acts on it or ignores it.How did the water save? The water saved Noah and his family by destroying the world. It cleansed them from the foul affects of the world. The like figure which water baptism saves us.
Note a similar parallel with Israel. (1Cor. 10:2) Concerning water baptism, Israel was water baptized as she went dry shod through the Red Sea. And what did the waters of that baptism do? Destroyed Pharaoh's army.

Zipporah took what came to hand at that time. It would be like someone being in the kitchen and an intruder showed up. A kitchen knife would be the only available weapon.Exodus 4:25 KJV

During this period, Egypt (where Moses was raised) was the most advanced civilizations in the world.
For almost 30 centuries—from its unification around 3100 B.C. to its conquest by Alexander the Great in 332 B.C.—ancient Egypt was the preeminent civilization in the Mediterranean world. From the great pyramids of the Old Kingdom through the military conquests of the New Kingdom, Egypt’s majesty has long entranced archaeologists and historians and created a vibrant field of study all its own: Egyptology. The main sources of information about ancient Egypt are the many monuments, objects and artifacts that have been recovered from archaeological sites, covered with hieroglyphs that have only recently been deciphered. The picture that emerges is of a culture with few equals in the beauty of its art, the accomplishment of its architecture or the richness of its religious traditions.

Prior to this, at the time of Noah, the Sumerian civilization was already much advanced and equal to Egyptian civilization:
SUMERIAN ART AND ARCHITECTURE
Architecture on a grand scale is generally credited to have begun under the Sumerians, with religious structures dating back to 3400 B.C., although it appears that the basics of the structures began in the Ubaid period as far back as 5200 B.C. and were improved upon through the centuries. The buildings are noted for their arched doorways and flat roofs.
Elaborate construction, such as terra cotta ornamentation with bronze accents, complicated mosaics, imposing brick columns and sophisticated mural paintings all reveal the society’s technical sophistication.
Sculpture was used mainly to adorn temples and offer some of the earliest examples of human artists seeking to achieve some form of naturalism in their figures. Facing a scarcity of stone, Sumerians made leaps in metal-casting for their sculpture work, though relief carving in stone was a popular artform.
Under the Akkadian dynasty, sculpture reached new heights, as evidenced by intricate and stylized work in diorite dated to 2100 B.C....
SUMERIAN SCIENCE
Sumerians had a system of medicine that was based in magic and herbalism, but were also familiar with processes of removing chemical parts from natural substances. They are considered to have had an advanced knowledge of anatomy, and surgical instruments have been found in archeological sites.
One of the Sumerians greatest advances was in the area of hydraulic engineering. Early in their history they created a system of ditches to control flooding, and were also the inventors of irrigation. Canals were consistently maintained from dynasty to dynasty.
Their skill at engineering and architecture both point to the sophistication of their understanding of math. The structure of modern time-keeping, with sixty seconds in a minute and sixty minutes in an hour, is attributed to the Sumerians.
SUMERIAN CULTURE
Schools were common in Sumerian culture, marking the world’s first mass effort to pass along knowledge in order to keep a society running and building on itself.
Sumerians left behind scores of written records, but they are more renowned for their epic poetry, which influenced later works in Greece and Rome and sections of the Bible. The Sumerians were musically inclined and a Sumerian hymn is considered the world’s oldest musically notated song....

What all this means is that stone age savages had nothing in common with Noah and the people of that time.
Your presumption of course is that what science has identified as a law can never be in error. With regard we believe by faith that He is never in error... but at times and on certain issues we simply cannot understand Him.If the flood was miraculous then it cannot be proven by science, as Stranger stated, so why are you guys looking for scientific evodence for it?
I have no problem believing in miracles - my problem is when Christians stand on their heads trying to legitimize miracles with science and try to teach miracles in science classes.
If we are claiming that Noah miraculously built a giant boat that would never survive a world wide flood and carried every type of land animal, including, sloths, rhinos, Siberian tigers, pandas, land insects, amphibians, and bacteria in his boat it is easily explainable if God wanted to work outside the laws of science.
The Flood was BOTH miraculous and can also be proven by geology. Why don't you read the Genesis Flood By Whitcomb and Morris BEFORE YOU SAY ANOTHER WORD?If the flood was miraculous then it cannot be proven by science, as Stranger stated, so why are you guys looking for scientific evidence for it?
What makes you think God wanted to work outside the laws of science, or Natural Laws, when He brought on the Flood and commanded Noah to build that ship (not boat)? Rain was according to natural laws. The release of subterranean water was according to natural laws. Flotation is a natural law. Making the Ark watertight was also according to natural laws. Even the dimensions of the Ark were precisely according to natural laws, which would ensure the stability of the ship as well as its ability to float for over one year without any issues whatsoever.
