And I already dealt with this one. You are proving that you don't actually bother to read what I post, ATP, which has been obvious for some time.
I told you....there is a response here. His sheep cannot be plucked out of the Father's hand because they hear His voice....and they follow Him.

They are obedient to Him, ATP.
They aren't just hanging around the field grazing...they are actively following Him.
Those sheep who will not hear Him or follow Him are lost. They are meat to the wolf and the lion and the bear. They will not have eternal life because they have wandered outside of the Shepherd's protection.

In other words, those who have eternal life are those who hear Him and who follow Him.
They will be those who love Him enough to obey His commands, ATP.
And why do they obey Him Barrd?
Because the seed of God will never leave them 1 John 3:9 NIV.
You seem to not grasp the reality of Grace.
Notice the word "believe" and "perish" here. What are we believing in Barrd.....

John 3:16 NIV For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 10:26 NIV but you do not believe because you are not my sheep.
John 10:28 NIV John 10:28 NIV I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.

Once we believe we may know and have confidence that we have eternal life 1 John 5:13-14 NIV. You still have work to do...

Well there are some who don’t believe in the sovereignty of God. Many freewill types are anarchists in nature and don’t see how God can make them do anything.
The whole chapter hits on this subject.:

Those who think they have a choice in the matter believe they can loss or leave the faith. Hence giving themselves credit for their salvation, by judging for themselves that God is good for them. God don’t go for that, no can do.

They simply don’t believe that their destruction is a righteous thing, hence the lack of repentance and fear of God, required for God’s Mercy.

I agree God is sovereign, yet we must be careful because the Bible does not teach fatalism...

We do make choices, and we are culpable for our decisions not God. With that said God knows every choice we have and will ever make, with every one of our choices falling within His plan for His glory.

Perseverance Defined.
That this perseverance in a state of grace is not innate and necessary, with the new–born nature, but gracious. It does not proceed from anything in the interior state of the regenerate soul, but wholly from God’s purpose of mercy towards that soul. Security from fall is the attribute of none but God, Adam in Paradise was capable of apostasy. Holy angels were capable of apostasy; for many of them fell; and doubtless the angels and glorified saints in heaven owe their infallibility, not to their own strength, but to God’s unchanging grace working in them. Much more would the Christian, in his imperfection, be liable to fall.
Not Compatible With Sin.
This perseverance does not imply that a man may be living in habitual and purposed sin, and yet be in a justified state, because he who is once justified cannot come into condemnation. We heartily join in everything which can be said against so odious a doctrine. It is impossible; because the living in such a state of sin proves that the man never was, and is not now, in a justified state, whatever may be his names and boasts.
Our doctrine does not teach that many will not be finally lost, who are connected with the visible Church outwardly, and whom the Scriptures may call believers in a certain sense, because they have a temporary or historical faith, like that of Simon Magus. But those who have once had in them the true principle of spiritual life, never lose it.
Nor do we teach that all Christians have equal spiritual vitality at all times; but they may fall into partial errors of doctrine, coldness and sin, which may for a time wholly interrupt their comfort in religion, and over-cloud their evidence of a gracious state. Yet is the root of the matter there.


Hebrews 6:4
Of the first we may briefly remark, that it does not appear the spiritual endowments there described of the apostate, amount to a true state of grace. A detailed criticism and comparison of the traits “being enlightened,” etc., will show that according to the usage of the Scriptures, they describe, not a regenerate state, but one of deep conviction and concern, great privilege, with perhaps charisms of tongues or healings. The exemplars are to be found in such men as Balaam, Simon Magus, and Demas. And this is most consistent with the Apostle’s scope. The terms here if meant to describe ordinary saving conversion, would at least be most singular and unusual. They are evidently vague, and intentionally so; because God does not care to enable us to decide exactly how near we may go to the impassable line of grieving His Spirit, and yet be forgiven.


General Answer.
There is one general element of objection in all these texts; that when God warns the righteous, the believer, etc., against the dangers of apostasy; or when He stimulates him to zeal in holy living by the thought of those dangers, God thereby clearly implies that believers may apostatize. The answer is: Naturally speaking, so he may. The certainty that he will not, arises, not from the strength of a regenerated heart, but from God’s secret, unchangeable purpose concerning the believer; which purpose He executes towards, and in him, by moral means consistent with the creature’s free agency. Among these appropriate motives are these very warnings of dangers and wholesome fears about apostasy. Therefore, God’s application of these motives to the regenerate free agent proves not at all that it is God’s secret purpose to let him apostatize. They are a part of that plan by which God intends to ensure that he shall not. Compare carefully Acts 27:22–25 with 31.

But it isn't true. There are too many cases in the Bible where people who were once close to God did lose their salvation...beginning with Adam and Eve...

I also understand that this damnable doctrine of devils is responsible for leading an awful lot of people to think that their sin is just dandy with God, because, of course, they were "saved".

What you say doesn't change those two glaring facts that tell me unmistakably that this doctrine is a lie.

I understand that it is a very comfortable lie...and I understand that there is just enough truth in it to make it plausible.

Satan....is a very accomplished liar. But then, he's had an awful lot of practice...

Not everything is a theology to catagorize whatever somebody says something you perceive as a theology. There is such a thing as what the bible says, and it’s Jesus who is the interpretation. Not all those religious studies.


We do make choices, and we are culpable for our decisions not God. With that said God knows every choice we have and will ever make, with every one of our choices falling within His plan for His glory.

That’s not so at all, men judge other men’s choices. The sons of man are already in prison and in servitude to sin, no matter what choice they make, the result is the same in relation to their salvation. They are still in prison. Hence:

Mt:22:11: And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
12: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13: Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14: For many are called, but few are chosen.

But once born again, one can improve their status in the Kingdom.

The called are drawn not of their own doing:

Jn:6:44: No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

I’m sorry but don’t you believe what the Bible says especially when the Lord Jesus does the talking. Or is it just supposed to be one feel good after another, or something?


oh yea, here’s one for the OSAS Now unless you are able to cast yourselves out, this pretty much says it.
 
Jn:6:37: All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

I am uncertain of ATP's position, yet I feel those warning passages are valid. In the case of the Hebrews passage I see the Jews going back under the Law, leaving faith in Jesus Christ for salvation. I actually had an excellent Hebrews class under a professor that did his doctorate on the book of Hebrews. He also holds to the perseverance of the saints doctrine.

I have never exegeted the Tim passage...

I would have to study that for a response.

Here Arminius affirms the doctrine of the perseverance of the saints. I believe Scripture confirms the perseverance of the saints and not OSAS. They are not one and the same. Truly the POTS doctrine is irrefutable in its language. Concerning the OSAS doctrine, I do not know of clear language defining it. It seems to be up for grabs for antinomians and the like to latch onto.

I do not see the possibility of the born again believer losing salvation. I like Arminius though dare not speak in absolute terms concerning this issue. But losing salvation seems illogical and impossible.

God only saves those who are His, and He knows all of His own. For Him to begin the salvation process on an individual He knows is apostate is illogical, thereby that would go against His nature. A philosophical argument I know, but a valid one.

Also if there is now no condemnation in Christ Jesus, it is impossible to become condemned once you are in Christ Jesus.

From the human perspective...God's mystery of salvation remains hidden until the consummation.

Isn't it nice to know, you can sin, sin and sin, by breaking God's Commandments (sin is transgression of God's law 1st John) and He will still give you salvation and invite you into His everlasting Kingdom..wow...so the everlasting Kingdom will be a repeat of what earth is today then??? Just as Eve listened to the serpent in the garden, and caused circa 6k years of suffering for the human race, the same will happen in God's eternal Kingdom...which will be inherited with a bunch of UNREPENTANT sinners, if you have your way...hmmmmmm...interesting theology, albeit confused theology you have there...!

It's amazing how many times the word "believe" is in the Bible. God really puts it in our face. To put it to rest, the "truth" will be in us forever...Eph 1:13-14 NIV, 2 Thess 2:12 NIV, 2 John 1:2 NIV. Amen.

Mark 16:16 NIV Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.

John 3:18 NIV Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

2 Thess 2:11-12 NIV For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

No, that's incorrect and poor exegesis for that matter. We actually no longer keep sinning because the seed of God remains in us forever hereto....

Sin is transgression of God's law (1st John)...so if you have God's seed in you, you cannot transgress God's law..that means you keep His law...but if you don't keep His law, then His seed is not in you..right? Do you know even satan believes, him and his demons tremble (James 2), so you are in bad company if you say you believe and do not keep His laws....
Paul says "do we make void the law through faith? God forbid. We establish the law" Romans...
