What was it about sin before Christ that we just allowed it to run ramshod over us? We were created to live by the life of another! Your creation is a living expression (soul, Adam was created a living soul) of who you are. God created man to be dominated and that is what we did as sinner's we just rolled with the flow as they say, but our flow was evil. We lived life by the sin nature, we lived the only way we could which was by the life of another there was no other way just like today in Christ. That needs to roll around in Christian's because unless they understand you will live by the old way of thinking, mixing good and bad and never knowing you have a new life to live by. Adam was created innocent but was designed to live by the life of another which was to be Christ, but he chose another life to live by. It does not matter what happened and how he fell, what matters is he was created to live by the life of another and that is what happened Satan became their life and that life is passed to everyone born into this world. So believers really have to get an understanding of their creation to be able to live by the life of another.
Why would scripture be full of men not able to live the life God asked them to live? The Old Testament is a book of failure's as far as flesh goes. So why would God expect more? He was showing mankind that they cannot please God and him what he wants on their own. He show case's flesh if you will to show human beings there in only one way and it is not by flesh. The only life there is for believers is Christ. Over and over and over Christ is shown to be the only life there is. You could not say it any better than Paul, he never leaves Christ as life, and his Epistles are full of Christ as life. You will not find life by any other way, humans try and try to be this and that but you will never be anything as long as you live apart (in mind) from Christ because Christ is your life and you have to, it is imperative that you live by that nature now. No other way "I am the way" Jesus said.
