I think... this would make a terrible topic. It would devolve into a fight between the Calvinists and Arminians pretty quickly, thereby causing more of the problem that it criticizes.
What topic within soteriology does not devolve into a fight between the Calvinists and the non-Calvinists if both participate?

Heresy does not usually remove the verses, it usually adds to them a man made teaching, which creates the heresy.

How does this deceive the deceived?

They BELIEVE the twist, that has been placed on the verse, and that becomes how they SEE IT.

For example, if i was a Hyper-Calvinist....then everytime i read the NT< and i saw these words....and phrases.

"Whosover"
"The World"
"All that Call"
"As many as"
"ALL That will"
"ALL"
"Each"
"for as many"

Then if i was a deceived Calvinist or "5 pointer", then my mind would twist the verses, into "only the elect".. "only the pre-chosen".. "only the Predestined".........every time i read......."whosoever"... "as many as"... "ALL that will"... "The World"...."The World".. "each", "for as many".

This is what the bible refers to as the "Bewitching power" of a doctrine of Devils, that is always created by a MAN...

And all false religions, and heresies related to Christian Theology, are MAN MADE... .always.

Interesting comment and so true.

We have all been there.

You present your doctrinal position and give biblical support for it.
The response is, "Yeah, but..." and then your "opponent" gives their differing doctrinal position with biblical support.
So basically, Bible versus Bible. (who will win?)

Ironically, the WORDS "Yeah, but..." are an agreement, "Yeah" means "Yes" in proper English.
Shouldn't they say, "No, but...", if they disagree? (nope) That doesn't even make sense.

This is a strange little dance that we do with each other.
Since our opponent gave scriptural support, we are compelled to agree while we disagree.

Has this happened to you? How do you handle it?
What do you do with the "Yeah, but..." response?

I get this one a lot, but the bible doesn't say the devil is done away with, but it does.

Double but with no extra t.

The issue you have is that you are presenting "YOUR Doctrinal Position".......so, this concludes that its yours.

Whereas the correct "doctrine" comes from Paul, exactly as he gave it to the Church.

Any other is not correct.

A person with the truth and the full council of God will be able to reconcile all bible verses and avoid the "verse vs verse contradictions.

Good post.
But I'm not sure that the contradictions can be reconciled.
The eternal security contradictions came up recently on the forum.
As of yet unresolved.
Feel free to weigh in.
