I agree with this to a point but do you really think our involvement in other countries constitutes defending the country? I would rather not lose american lives overseas unless they really are defending this country. We would have a lot less veteran issues if we stopped putting them in war zones needlessly.
Also, all veterans deserve to be taken care of but not are all are deserving of honor.

A wounded soldier with AIDS is a risk to everyone on the battlefield.
