They believed God's promise and God considered it righteousness, just as he did with Abraham.
“For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.” (Romans 4:3)

But you are missing the point. God's righteousness had not been gifted to mankind yet. It was their righteousness that God recognized.

But even good works are sin if not done in faith.
“And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” (Romans 14:23)

But that is to the believer.....not the world. Why can't you see that the world is not the church and the church is not the world?

A Christian is to walk by faith. If something upsets that faith....then the believer has let in another consideration.

“God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.” (Romans 3:4)

Here again is God vindicating giving the Jews the oracles of God. This is about the people of God....not the world.

No it wasn't. Abraham's faith in God was 'counted' to him for righteousness. It was not his. It was God's. Imputed righteousness. Counted, imputed, or reckoned. By faith. God's righteousness. (Gen. 15:6)

It was counted to Him as righteousness...NOT And God gifted Him with His own righteousness.

You deny God's righteousness....by lowering it to the level of a man's accomplishments....by denying a person can do something that God calls righteous.

Truly wanky logic. And a huge lie about God.

The twisted logic and statements are your.

'Counted to him as righteousness' speaks not to Abraham's own righteousness. It is a righteousness counted to him. It is God's righteousness as that righteousness is the only righteousness that avails before God.

According to mans righteousness, Abraham and anyone else can do many good things. And will receive the praise of men for it. But as having any affect on God as to even resemble His righteousness, it won't. (Rom. 4:2) "For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness."

So you see, it is you who are mistaken, and in refusing to correct your mistake, are perpetuating the lie.

Who's the "we"? what is very perturbing is that you don't understand the scale of the scriptures yet you want to judge the world?
Are you passing out theology tests? Using yourself as the textbook?

You want a biblical logic test? Try this.

When Jesus said...Without Me you can do NOTHING. Was He talking to His followers or the world?

Does a man, who is NOT a believer, need to call a Spirit-filled believer to take out the garbage for him? Or does he need a Spirit-filled believer to do EVERYTHING for him??? How do you interpret NOTHING? Religiously?

(Silly question but I am talking to a purveyor of silly notions)

So what say you?

One of the first mistakes most of us make in reading Scripture is in not determining TO WHOM the words are being spoken. There are more mistakes along the same contextual lines, but this one will do for now.

If we delve into predestination, all of your questions take on a new dimension.

Many people come to these forums full of religious notions...but are basically dishonest, proud, and are just here to spew. These are very far from being followers of Christ...as they have not learned humility...and they are practiced in resisting truth and the Holy Spirit. You would think that these sons of the lost...would profit by their time spent with others....some of whom are actual seekers and followers of Christ. But no....they come into our discussions like clouds without rain...spewing their false notions unto their own judgment.

I pray and grieve for some here that are unable to communicate without the flesh puffing itself up. You would think that there would be at least some openness to the Spirit of Christ?? Even an inch? But such is not the case...very unfortunate....and so preventable.

It's complicated and no simple answer exists. If you think it does, you do not understand predestination.

it is too easy...but you don't understand the word. You are hiding behind the doctrines of men...who also don't understand the word.

But the understanding IS given to His disciples. These are given to understand spiritual things. And these are the things that you cannot comprehend.

So again...who is Jesus talking to...the world....or His flock?

The answer is easy...but it undermines everything that you thought you knew.

Let go of your religion and your carnal pride....take a step into understanding. You have everything to gain. But pride dies hard.

It is like a monkey who is caught with his hand in a bottle. All he has to do is let go of what he thinks is valuable (the shiny object of his desire) and he is FREE! But instead he holds on the the object that has captured him....for dear life. But it is his life that he is forfeiting for his refusal to let go.

Take the step.

We can answer this question in an elementary sense and say "his flock". But this is not entirely true. God (Jesus) controls all things including what people think, say and do. So apart from him no body can do anything.

You are over thinking this. Go tell an unbeliever that he can't do anything without Jesus...and he will mock you...and blaspheme Christ.

It is with notions like this that Jesus is blasphemed among the nations...by half-converted purveyors of religious twaddle that they are trying to convert others with. First get the beam out of your own eye.

But unbelievers do not know the truth. Ask them if they cause their own hearts to beat.

Jesus Christ came to take a people out of this world....for Himself. These people are given gifts and a calling...as no other people on earth. We are called to the holy standard of God...without imposing that standard on others. It is given to HIS disciples to understand spiritual things...NOT the world. WE then are to be a light to the world...NOT their judge. We are to suffer for the world as Jesus suffered..thereby learning to be as He is in the world.

WE are the righteousness of God in Christ. This is only understood by those who walk in holiness...far from religious notions of carnal men.
