Functionally God? Hmmm. That would make you "functionally" biblically illiterate. Sad.
If I may interject, even as one fairly short lived as a member here I think your assuming , accusing, Matthias as being functionally biblically illiterate is not just a personal attack but is also incredibly ignorant on your part.

You are new too. However, you have not been here long enough to arrive and assume that attack posturing against our brother Matthias.

He is far from biblically illiterate. In fact, you would do well to pause and learn from him. If he is willing.

Yeah! If anything, @Matthias might have read a bit too much! :tonguewink:

Well reading a bit to much, is not the problem that many people have. Many peoples' problem is their lack of actually understanding what the context of what they read is. Usually, they use faulty reference data to begin drawing their own conclusions out of what they have read.

Like a works-based reader will ask "how long do I have to put on the refurbished personhood that God intended us to have, to become saved," whereas others will ask God to help them remain within the personhood that God intended them to become so that they can bring Glory to His Name.

Sadly, many readers of "books" or essays, have great difficulty in coming to the same understanding as the writer of the material had when he created the apparent "word salad."

Do you believe Jesus divinity was because he was God,The Word, made flesh?
Allow me to help you best I can from questions I have asked Matthias. -
He does not believe that the Son of God had any pre-existence. He believes that the Word of God refers to an it- a plan, perhaps.. an idea. So in that sense he says the word did not become flesh & dwell among us. I don't really comprehend what he does believe about that, frankly. although I have tried.
Jesus was solely human to him I think. Yet he says he was God in the flesh. ? I don't quite get it.
I asked about Jesus' memories in heaven with His Father prior to coming to earth, and Matt likened those to a computer memory.
Feel free to correct me on anything here, Matthias.
I have extended my hand in fellowship to Matt- as I see us both as the children of God since He truly believes Jesus is his savior- died for his personal sins and took his punishment- and is God in the flesh- but he rejected my offer to include him as a brother in the faith multiple times.
I'm not totally sure why he rejects Christians as his bros/sis, other than he says we have a different God.
I think maybe he thinks we picture a 3 headed God like the Jws do or some such nonsense. I've told him I don't go by creeds or hold people to them but he did not seem to care. I guess unless you hold to his precise tenants- then your are unacceptable in his perfect theology. But good luck in trying to have him explain what he does believe. I don't have the time to read his every post. Who does that?
Matthias is a confusing person to me. I have wondered about his need to reject- I knew a borderline once who did that. She drew people in and then rejected them if they got close. Matt reminds me of that kind of personality. I hope not, but I can only go by what I've seen.
My hands are still stretched out to him in fellowship in our Father, His Son and in the Holy Spirit.

I'm not new, just recycled. Matthias denies the Divinity of Christ. I do not deny that he is well read. But if someone, particularly someone who claims to be a believer, denies the Eternal Godhead, there's really not much point in listening to anything else he has to say.

Hmmm What am I doing here ?
I first joined this forum way back in ‘07 under a different avatar/name …I stayed until the arguing got to me ( or I allowed it to get to me) there were some quite ‘vicious‘ members back then!

I came back in about 2015 for about 7 years , then saw many good ‘friends ‘ leave , so ofter a while , I drifted off too. Been gone a couple of years , and came back a week or so ago…

why did I come back yet again ? Why am I here ?
I wanted to see if any old friends had returned , and just wondered what the topics of discussion were now. I’ve seen the ownership change hands a few times in almost 20 years ….

I have no great or hidden agendas for being here. Ive always liked this forum , I guess I just end up returning like a homing pigeon :D

Bless all who sail in her…..
Hi Helen. Wonderful to see you are still alive and kicking.

I was directly involved in the conversation and barely recognize it from your description.

I don’t deny the divinity of the Messiah. I affirm the divinity of the Messiah. You (and others) will find this in my posts, if you care to look.

If what I have to say doesn’t resonate with you then reject it and go with what does.

Mmm. This tired old world has bits not only wearing out, but falling off. The Earth's stresses becomes our own, and we eventually end up one with it. But praise God for the hope of a new life at the resurrection. Not far off methinks.

"Functionally" God, is not God.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
