During March 2000 God removed my faulty foundation, removed a bitter root from below it that was there from the womb (my mother had rejected me and I responded in a dishonorable way), and replaced it starting with the Chief Cornerstone.
Have you ever watched a movie called, "The Wall?" It was about an imaginary rock star named, "Pink Floyd." (based on the sad life of original Pink Floyd singer Sid Barret)
Pink was having difficulties. His woman betrayed him, friends and business partners were ripping him off and life, in general, was going poorly for him.
In a desperate attempt to deal with the pain of rejection, he started building inner walls. Eventually, the storms of life started knocking down Pink's walls, exposing him to the world. At this point, he was mentally insane.
He had a show to do but when his people kicked in his hotel room door, they discovered that he'd smashed all his belongings and had made patterns on the floor from the pieces. He had lost it.
Because they lead my people astray, saying, "Peace," when there is no peace and because, when a flimsy wall is built they cover it with whitewash, "therefore tell those who cover it with whitewash that it is going to fall. Rain will come in torrents, and I will send hailstones hurtling down, and violent winds will burst forth." When the wall collapses, will people not ask you, "Where is the whitewash you covered it with?"
"Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: In my wrath, I will unleash a violent wind, and torrents of rain will fall with destructive fury. I will tear down the wall you have covered with whitewash and will level it to the ground so that it's foundation will be laid bare. When it falls, you will be destroyed in it; and you will know that I am the Lord." Ezekiel 13:10-14 NIV.
When God was preparing me for this process, I didn't know what was ahead of me. He had just spoken to me that He loved me forever, that He'd never leave or forsake me, and that He was going to reward me for my faithfulness. He did give me ample opportunity to fall on the rock, but I was stubborn. So the Rock fell on me and ground me to dust, and in the process, He laid the foundation of my personality bare. Which is what I needed. It was like having heart surgery while you were awake.
This will seem strange to many, even God calls it His strange work, but scripture talks about this sort of thing in many places. For instance, check out Isaiah 28.
For those who think it would be neat to be in one of the 5-fold ministries unless God is calling you to it, you should repent. This is not warm fuzzy land. It is a literal death of self. Be careful what you ask for, you just might get it. Shalom.
